@@qwaxerty it actually does sound very american. Back in the forties and fifties Hollywood had this thing with thinking that the accent referred to as a Transatlantic American accent was the accent of choice to use in movies. Watch all the old movies and you can hear that American accent. They made their actors speak in that accent and anybody living the Posh lifestyle at time would affect that accent because due to Hollywood's influence it became like the accent to have if you were of any worth. Mostly by the mid to late 50s that accent was completely done away with. Glad I am old enough to have experienced the 70's. Halston ruled the fashion world in that decade. To own anything by Halston was a big deal. Halston's name was mentioned in songs, magazines, TV, movies. His perfume at one time was the second highest selling perfume in history, after Chanel No.5.

We’ve lost Halston but Liza is still alive, and what an amazing talent she is. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves before it’s too late. I felt so sad for her. I hope she gets lots of love, she’s a true icon!
Agree about Ellen. Hosting the Oscars, she made a tasteless joke about mistaking Liza for a man (implying she looked like a drag queen). First, it's never funny to insult someone during a live broadcast (no opportunity to edit or re-shoot). If Liza were some kind of pompous, egotistical person she might deserve to be taken down a peg, but the opposite is true. You could tell by Liza's response that she was dispirited. Secondly, the tone deaf irony of the pot calling the kettle black. If anyone in the Dolby Theater was to be mistaken for a man, it would be Ellen herself.
I just love how he transformed american fashion... his minimalists designs, using only a beautiful piece of fabric that was tied in ingenious new ways created a new era for designers. He started the whole minimalist fashion thing.
Mr McGregor is a genius in portraying the way he talked. But the “real” Halston looks more awkward, calm and sort of sad to me than his onscreen persona. In the series the character seems snarkier and more like a diva.

It's unfortunate the Halston brand has never been properly revived. The brand has had a few designers and plenty of owners since his death, but Halston has never reclaimed its spot among other notable names in fashion.
I think part of the problem is that they've changed hands too often - and they're so in thrall to his "looks" that they can't (I'm talking the fashion end) risk breaking out and being ground-breaking, like he was. Hampered by "taste":-/
I think you're right. Some of the revivals did fairly well for a time but none of them were able to maintain momentum. You can say a lot about this guy. His lifestyle, choice of partners, the excess of partying, drugs, booze, smoking, late nights, etc. For the videos I've seen when he's working, you can tell in his eyes that he's 100% professional and business minded towards womens fashion.
The accent was fake. But I see your point. Watch the halston documentary. One of his close friends said that he created that voice when he was among certain people.
I just finished watching the series and I bought a bottle of Halston 1-12 ...I already had the z14 ...wow...they are so special aromas! Both bottles are exactly the same, not branded. You must take the tap and smell each to choose which will you use today...I find that detail simply delightful.
I loved Halston in the 70s, but like a lot of fashion lovers, I was shocked when he signed the JC Penney's deal. I didn't understand how he didn't realize how badly this would fail. I have been in to fashion all my life. I grew up shopping at Contempo judices etc. as I got older, and my career got bigger i was able to afford Macys than Nordstrom and up and I remember my favorita designers was Halston. I just now learned about his story; I love him more now. He had the same taste in clothes that I envisioned in my mind very minimalista but eye cashing. Mostly comfort.
My goodness is that joe , elsa & the store manager lady 1:03 the cast on Netflix is literally spot on 👌🏾 almost thought that was them crazy
Wow! Superb casting.
me after watching the show searching "who is halston based on?" lol some shows just makes you want to know more i love it
Ewan McGregor you did a phenomenal job portraying Halston
Love both Halston and Liza!♥️♥️👏👏👍👍
One of the best of all time
LIZA a dedicated FRIEND we all need.
This is the first time I've seen and heard him, I watched the Netflix documentary and i now think Ewan McGregor did a great job!
Came here after watching Halston on netflix… Ewan Mcgregor did an awesome job!
HALSTON was a game changer🇺🇸
McGregor's work was oustanding by portraying such iconic character. I'm not a fan of fashion designers but his performance was priceless.
what a genius.... he lived 20 lifetimes. What a forever icon.
I never even knew his name. Im in the uk, on Netflix Ewan WAS FANTASTIC i really felt the character and the voice!!! such a great film....very very good.
Ewan KILLED IT!!❤❤
He was fabulous. He made his mom hats to make her happy. How many guys do that?????
Learning he had an abusive father broke my heart. What a genuinely good person he was to comfort his mother the way he did.
Omg Evan McGregor sounds exactly like him in the series
You can say a lot about this guy. His lifestyle, choice of partners, the excess of partying, drugs, booze, smoking, late nights, etc. For the videos I've seen when he's working, you can tell in his eyes that he's 100% professional and business minded towards womens fashion.
The actor portraying Liza Minnelli did. a Great Job
Man I'm impressed by how Ewan Mcgregor nailed Halston's accent
The accent was fake. But I see your point. Watch the halston documentary. One of his close friends said that he created that voice when he was among certain people.
Who’s here from Netflix 😂♥️
Halston was around before Netflix.
Halston was pure American class🇺🇸♥️
I just finished watching the series and I bought a bottle of Halston 1-12 ...I already had the z14 ...wow...they are so special aromas! Both bottles are exactly the same, not branded. You must take the tap and smell each to choose which will you use today...I find that detail simply delightful.
His clothing fits fabulously
Ewan was fantastic. I adored this series, but hope there's a continuation. Is it a limited series??
Really good thanks for your work
Just started watching the Netflix series. McGregor is quite good in his portrayal of Halston.
Thank you, ET.
Ewan and the whole cast was fantastic. I binge watched the series and will probably watch it again. It’s a travesty what happened to his brand.
I loved Halston in the 70s, but like a lot of fashion lovers, I was shocked when he signed the JC Penney's deal. I didn't understand how he didn't realize how badly this would fail. I know designers have done this successfully for decades, but that was such an awful fit. He was way too prestigious for a store like that.
And now they are all doing it. As a matter fact, if you don’t have a clothing line in a department store you’re not a big deal.
@@1028dianemariemaybe they are all doing it. But JC penny wss the bottom of the barrel . Update all those designers who " did it" have now lost their cachet, their mystique - calvin klein. Michael kors, polo, tommy hilfiger, Coach
I loved Halston. I loved the chick/casual looks he created. I loved his Halston perfume which I use still today.
Wow... he nailed him playing the part .... the voice the mannerisms...
Chusmeando después de ver la serie 🤣🤣🤣 Me encanto la actuación de Ewan , hasta copiaron igual su oficina 😱
I’m here because of Netflix too they did a good job even his office is just like this
Right! Ewan, killed that roll I can’t imagine! I really enjoyed the series I new nothing about Halston. My Muttie had is perfume and to this day I can smell that a mile away!!
Ewan Mc Gregor❤❤
Thank you for Halston
I'm here because I wanted to compare the real McCoy to the Netflix portrayal and Ewan McGregor better get an Emmy nomination for how close he got to the essence of Halston (man, he's a Scot even). It's touching to see how close he and Liza M. were. Halston was sort of an unsung icon though he had his personal demons (isn't this how it usually goes with creative geniuses though)?
that's not Lauren Bacall in the photo (along with his vo) it's Lauren Hutton
A real god of haute couture.... An American designer who could be compared to the great European ones... A natural...
