      The navigation pane is activated from the View tab of the ribbon. If you have 365, then you have it. If you don't see it, then I'd say you're running a perpetual license that doesn't have this feature.

    Rounded corners!?... We all love that visual aspect. As a matter of fact I've been using rounded corners and a small drop shadow on Notes in Excel consistently for a while now. Has a much more gentle look to it compared to those pointy corners. I'll add them to objects, too, from now on.

    I used to do vb coding for my users that had excel and wanted data from the big databases. Back in 2008. Retired, I was pulled into bookkeeping for my church (something I never thought I'd do) I inherited 3 inter-connected files of multiple sheets in each. The main entry portion as you have described is really in a report format. Don't know how much longer I'll be doing this as my mentor (age 90) has decided to hang up her shoes. Over the past 16 years I have added other connections between these 3 gradually to make it more friendly for me. Looking to the future, I'd like to create a table that looks like the checkbook ledger and create a simple Entry form. Then that can feed the existing files. The church is down to less than 20 members, so I don't know who will pick up the tasks if I'm not available. What do you think?
    I really enjoy your videos, but in its current form, I can't make use of most of your tips. (I have however passed them on to my sister who manages the finance for her daughter's business)

    Please no with making column charts into shapes. The whole point of a chart should be to convey information visually but accurately. Fancy shapes interfere with our ability to process the relative sizes of the columns. Columns should be both proportional height AND proportional area. Anything other than a rectangle does make it harder to interpret accurately.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  2 месяца назад +1

      I agree for business reports, but for infographics we can be more playful. I did caveat that the shape chosen should not mislead the audience, so be careful which shape you choose. The area of a column does not impact the value e.g. a wide column or a narrow column makes no difference to the value it represents, only the height.

    • @seankelleher4222
      @seankelleher4222 2 месяца назад

      @@MyOnlineTrainingHubthat’s not how the human brain works. We see a wider shape as bigger, no matter what the scale might say. Choosing any shape other than equal width rectangles WILL mislead, so “choose a shape that doesn’t mislead” is just misleading people into thinking some other shapes don’t.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  2 месяца назад

      I'm not suggesting different width rectangles and nor were any of my examples.

    • @seankelleher4222
      @seankelleher4222 2 месяца назад

      @@MyOnlineTrainingHub it’s a simple example of how what the brain processes is at least as much area as height. If your shape isn’t a rectangle, or is a rectangle but they have different widths, people will not just see height. If all that matters is which one is bigger that won’t be too disastrous, but good data visualisation is proportional and our ability to process that is messed up heavily by using non rectangles or varying the width.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  2 месяца назад

      I'm not disagreeing with that and wasn't suggesting people use different width columns. Simply that the top of the column doesn't need to have right angles. It could be rounded. As long as the columns are consistent and the top of the column finished at the correct height, then they are comparable and readable at a glance.
