To unhide permanently you have to cd to the folder where the file is or enter the path to the file. Use cmd + shift + dot to view all hidden files greyed out, like toggle.

Really appreciate for your clear tutorial, I want to know that I have a file that contains all of my mp3 files that are downloaded from RUclips and it is also linked on Apple Music. I followed the first method, but I still can see those mp3 files on downloads or recent in my Finder. How can I hide a file and just hide all the tracks, and listen to the mp3 files whenever I want?
This is not working for me and it's frustrating because I'm a new MacBook user so it's a completely different world for me and much complicated. I'm a Windows 7 user.
Is there any way to hide specific file types within folders? For example if I just wanted to hide all .txt files from one folder (and potentially all its subfolders) as a rule set by the folder itself, and to continuously hide all future .txt files as they get created/added to the folder 🤔...maybe Automator?
Just group by kind and then shift select the bottom one and go to the top and select them all and hide them all. I think you can drag them into the terminal. Or command shift dot.

why mac made this so difficult when all it takes for windows is a click of a button... there was an app that can do this but it stopped supporting new os. shame Apple.
