I totally agree. Reminds me of the old days when we all used to buy little old turds and try polish them up on shoestring budgets. I think they have really come a long, long way though. I can even say that i enjoy watching this series over some of those real productions like top gear etc.

This has been my favorite series in a while, so reminiscent of og mighty car mods. So much fun. While the bigger more legit builds are cool too, it always feels like the cheap nuggets are what we love best about mcm
now pull the engine out, cut a hole in the rear floor, and drop a full camry front subframe and engine in the back of it. mid engine V6 yaris hilton FTW

I have an 03 Camry 3L V6 I could donate for said conversion. Recently nailed a bear at 60MPH front left. Car is totaled, but engine/trans are still good.

This series had me on the edge of my seat the whole time lolll. I love how it ended, it reminds us that the point of it all is the memories and having fun, even if things dont go as planned. RIP Yaris, let's see what's next!!!

Hey we would like to see the damage to the engine and I think you should continue to fix it up.
Some better rods or whatever in needs would be interesting.
Just make it strong enough to take the boost and power it makes now. Keep it as the car other RUclipsrs that visit have to set a time on around the same track. Shame for those that can't break a minute.

It either crused the bearing which is making the piston hit the head or cracked a piston.
Yeah it should really be fixed for educational purposes. Then stop the improvements and raffle it off for charity. That's what I'd like to see.
Would love to see that too. A 2ZR should be able to handle forced induction - fairly easily the 200whp they put down on the dyno. Something went wrong. Maybe a tired motor. They had no gauges to monitor AFR, boost or oil pressure. Maybe the turbo CHRA failed from compressor surge not having a BOV. Anyway it's of particular interest to me as I did this swap and turbo to my Yaris RS. Here it is, if interested:

I LOVE how out of date Martins memes are. Absolute legend. Also you guys need to get into the habit of "flying laps"... Do your warm up then rip that second lap, no pause at the start line. That time is a far more realistic and fair time as the car isn't the only thing that needs to warm up... The driver does too!

sounded like a broken piston rod to me. Didn't see any oil on the track so it probably didn't break throught the block but still sounds pretty fuc*ed. :D
could also be a burned valve but idk whats worse
Yeah sounds like a big end bearing failure to me... and that sound is the top of the piston hitting the cylinder head... had it on many an engine... that’s why it still runs, but won’t run correctly as it’s only running on 3 or maybe 2

@@CruiserBrah like that engine is the same engine that was put into the Lotus Elise but with a supercharger and tuned to 200hp that engine most have from lack of oil or cooling

Yeah, give it a break for a while, then build a robust short block that will survive the boost. Put a little reinforcing loop around the opening for the intercooler, and attachment tabs for the number plate. Buff the paint a bit, and get someone who does PDR to take out the ding. Make it the car guest RUclipsrs have to set a time with around the same track.

probably spun bearing from the sound. it's not just down one cylinder, it's down one cylinder AND being squeezed to a stop by all the friction
I reckon the timing belt has slipped a tooth -resulting in the valves just touching the piston. Not enough to detonate the engine but enough to f*ck the valves.

This is the essence of hot rodding and learning. This is how it starts. You put way more money into a car that will never be worth the sum of it's parts. But you learn valuable lessons about how to work on a car and how cars work. I vote for a rebuild.....better, stronger, faster.

Interesting youtube name: "truth seeker". Do you think you have found the truth here in this series? Do you think that MCM actually did everything they could to make this car work? Calling economy cars "pieces of shit" for performance mods, is that not being "car snobs"? How many of their subscribers can afford the cars the MCM guys can? I think MCM gave most of its viewers/subscribers exactly what they wanted and they did it well! They are brilliant in that respect. This is more about drama and less about actual legit performance modifications, IMHO. But, it *is* about entertainment value and it excels in that. I am glad that MCM brought attention to a worthy platform. I really hope that they "get more serious" and bring Yaris Hilton back as the true wild street/track machine that should her destiny. This engine and turbo combo has been proved over and over. I did it and don't regret it in the least.

@@acbent11 The name came from a hybrid of a 95 Taurus SHO I had, and that I like looking into history and current news. And, if you watch their videos years back you will understand what I mean. They built regular cars and made them into decent daily drivers. Moog made his girls GTI a decent daily for the time. My wife had the same car, and gave me a bunch of ideas. Remember the blue turd? Their trip to Japan and the drift build they did. Marty still loves his older Subaru's. Many channels on RUclips change over time. They get money and do content on supercars that I don't give a crap about. I'm never going to own one. I buy and sell all sorts of different cars. Get beaters and thrash and trash them. Have some that I save and turn into real nice cars. Building a 02 Avalanche right now with a 6 inch lift that was a flood truck. Point is, they still do builds that are knowledgeable and entertaining. They aren't snobs in my opinion. They are the closest to what I do. So take that condescending , argumentative attitude and shove it bro!!

@@alxace I think that was Season 2. Season 1 that included caliper painting and proper car washing came out in 2008. So it's been 12 years... Where did the time go?! These guys have done an absolutely marvelous job though by putting out videos and constantly improving. I'm glad Marty, Moog, and the gang didn't give up on this channel!! New MCM and Skidfactory videos make my day! I'm still trying to catch up with Benny's channel lol
