How One Miracle Run Put Japanese Valorant on the Map

- ZETA Division are the greatest underdogs in Valorant history.
They didn’t have a legacy going into Masters Reykjavik - they didn’t have international respect or fans, and no one even really knew who they were.
But their miracle run put Japanese VALORANT on the map, and showed the world they were worth taking seriously.

This video is very late but now, i wanna see more videos for the asian teams. PRX stunning the world with their unique style of play and reaching the finals in copenhagen and DRX breaking the curse and finally living up to the standards that people had set up for them at champions. Both runs were amazing in their own right as well.
asian valorant is often more interesting to watch than na/emea. so much hype.
I'll take crazy, wacky, 5 human teams over robotic, one tap, 5 machine teams.
That and more fucking Apex video's, we're just ignoring the whole comp when it really needs all attention it can get
their style of play: hold w. It was easily countered after the teams got time to analyse it and I dont think they will reach the peak they reached an denmark
Riot seems to love underdog stories this year:
-PRX reaching grand finals
-DRX breaking the top 8 curse
-LOUD coming from nothing and immediately won everything
-ZETA's top 3 finish
-GAM winning against TES, practically screwing their chances at playoffs
-NA taking down 2 EU teams at groups along with them
-EG winning a BO5 against MAD
-DFM winning a game against RNG and finally
-DRX winning worlds, probably the hardest bracket to get there (GEN, EDG, TES, RGE, T1)
LOUD comign from nothing? LMAO. The already beat optiic once and choked on the masters final, and they dominated the latam/sa qualifiers.
@@mishareal copenhagen
@@mishareal well it's safe to say loud came from nothing before masters 1. Brazil was nowhere near top 3 in 2021
DRX is not even just the hardest bracket tho.. they literally barely qualified for everything
6th in the LCK ranking just making it to the last chance qualifier gauntlet
There too came back in both games to win ...
Started worlds in the play in stage and continued on to win it all..
It's like a literal shounen anime story where they always barely get through each fight but keep on getting stronger.
@@mishareal coming from nothing in a sense they formed in 2022 and won champs and came second in rejyahrjeu
Japanese valorant commentary is just as hype as Spanish soccer commentary
Ankara messi ankara messi immense messi immense messi ankara messi Gol gol gol gol gol
Football bro
english commentary is more analytical and jp is more bias kind of like a fan watching with you so they are more hype.
@@user-cl8cl6qc5t well honestly most viewers don't care about analytics we're more into something "fun"
Korean and Spanish is more hype than Japanese
Kind of interesting that this was uploaded 1 day after command. A much smaller channel uploads the same video.
yeah thats what i was thinking, literally watched the video today
Kinda weird actually
yea i saw commends vid yesterday
A video takes a long time to record and edit, probably a coincidence
Oh I thought I had already watched this
happy for lazvell, I remember watching his fragmovies on counterstrike when I was younger. Inspired me to become a better player and I'm still gaming at 6 years later going strong. Really laid back guy too and likes teaching people stuff in any fps that he plays.
absolutely love laz, huge inspiration so happy for him
I read in an interview on HLTV with Laz when he was playing CSGO back in 2018 something where he said that Japan as a region has a very small CSGO community and because of less tournaments happening in and around here its been hard being a CSGO pro and he was considering retiring.
I'm loving the redemption arc of Laz and Japan as a region so happy for them and love seeing Laz succeed.
i love ZETA, they're so much fun to watch
I think it's important to include how many people in the val esport community look down on ZETA before masters Reykjavik even start. PlatChat, people on twitter, people on many val forums clowned them and rank them last. With them losing real bad to DRX in the first game, people truly did not think they can ever win even one map. The 2nd match against DRX showed how much ZETA has improved in a very short period.
Honesty they had every right too 💀. Japan hadn’t won a single game in any international tourney plus plat chat has ripped into other teams before
@@jesushart3238 well they can think that zeta is a low rank team but many of them straight up belittle and trash them especially platchat who put their logo upside down 😂
@@suika7707 yeah but if you get on plat chats case than you have to get on everyone who’s every shit on sentinels for playing bad, or anyone who called vivo kied cheaters
@@jesushart3238 but this is video about zeta ofc I'm gonna talk about zeta. Plus I'm asian and I only care about asian team ☺️
To the people that think this video is a stolen, you have to keep in mind there’s a lot of production that go into these vids, it was probably just a coincidence that they were(cmmend and thescore) working on a zeta vid. No hate towards thescore is not that deep!
It could be true but.. they have been notorious for copying stuff even before so I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again with this one.
@@d4nkdesu even if thats true props for thescore for making a higher quality video in like 1 day then
@@zettgundam6317 I mean the score have an entire production team commend is just one dude. Still don’t think it’s copied tho
It's funny how a small youtuber named commend just posted a video about this a few days ago. Had the zeta division story happened recently it was understandable that they're talking about it but it happened some time ago. Ig it's a coincidence that they both are talking about the same thing lol.
One day ago ≠ a few days ago
It isn't a coincidence imo
Commend has also made a video on zeta's underdog run, great video and recommend to check out their video after this
I only play CS:GO so quite surprised Laz is still actively playing, hope he finds success and help grow Japan for FPS games. The region is awesome in R6 too!
3:50 I just realised that Incendiary is the name of brim's molly, and they hyped it up like it was an anime finishing move.
I love the Japanese Commentators' energy. I'd totally watch VCT with japanese dub and sub.
2022 has been the year of upsets across all of gaming. And I'm living for it.
saddest match to watch was Zeta vs PRX as i wanted both of them to win, but as they say u can't have your cake and eat it too.
I still remember the Asia teamkill threads
Thanks to this channel, a new fan in me
just saw this and yeah! japan has been putting themselves on the map lately- so proud of them. League is another example, been rooting for DFM after MSI
"you can be reminded to touch grass when you wear our merch" I already am every time I look in the mirror😟
I was waiting for this
We just had the Greatest Underdog Story in History of Esports by DRX and then this comes up
1:44 tbc
Absolute did do ok in soem cases, within apac, win a small Asian tournament, against Korean team GOSU and MiTH
Glad to see Japan finally get on the LAN World stage well deserved and long time coming.
To be honest, I did not expect ZETA to grow so much. I think we are a top 1 team in Japan, but I didn't know if we could make it in the world. when TENNN, Dep, and SugarZ3ro joined, I was surprised, but I didn't know how well they would do. But now that they have shown the world that Japan can be world class by taking 3rd place at VCT master's, I will never look down on a Japanese team again. I have high expectations for the future:D
I still remember watching 2021 APAC LCQ grand finals, Full sense vs Northeption
Although, I support Full sense Northeption with SugarZ3ro and TENNN is such an amazing team
Coming to this year ZETA really proved themselves as an amazing and one of the best team in the world
amazing storytelling
i just saw this exact video topic yesterday from a different youtuber named commend funny little coincedence
8:40
he done everythin with passion, thats why he good
I've always been rooting for Japanese teams aside from my home country's team somewhere in SEA.
didn't commend release basically the same video on this exact topic yesterday?
Now a video about OPTC and LOUD rivalry
what DRX did at worlds and valorant is worth to talk about
Bro I'd go to Japan just to go to their international LAN. Their production is WAY WAY beyond everyone else
interesting that cmend uploads the exact same video and you guys upload the same vid 1 day later lmaoo
The same video literally came yesterday on another channel called commend which is a much smaller channel and they uploaded it just the next day 😮😮🤔🤔
It's not a miracle,it's hardwork
Those Japanese casters were hype AF!
Yo this is the 100th time yall changed the thumbnails for this video :)))))
6:12 and who have shown more strength recently, I don’t know if they weren’t as hungry for to but they weren’t as good
Dep idk how much younger he js but maybe the two tlehrs
They weren’t jsut cracked, they had a quite a bit of experience
a bit late for such a video in my opinion but still well done, especially abt the beginning where u guys talked abt the history of Zetas team
still it was a bit odd to put it out this late while the most parts were allready covered by other yters who did a video equally as detailed abt their run if not more, during master Reykjavik
Same video topic as a smaller channel is a bad look for sure, especially when it’s uploaded a day after. But for both channels, making a video takes more than just a day.
Editing, narrating, getting the clips, the interviews, etc. could take weeks if not months.
Loved the @CommendYT video that came out a day or two before this!!!
japanese valorant gets bigger crowd than csgo rio major lol. Cant wait to see an international event there.
0:39 they had legacy within Japan
Japanese peopel knew, Valorant was already very popular in japan and esports.
Also hardcore fans from CS rly knew
how long was this video in production? its incredibly suspicous that a video with the exact same topic was uploaded by commend literally yesterday, and absolutely no mention of him in the description or video. weird coincidence or just wrong
yeaah
I noticed it too
I really hope someone working at thescore didn't steal commend's video idea. The amount of time between that video and this one though makes me think its a large coincidence.
yeah...
its a coincidence bro, it happens.
even if so worth they can't cover a topic of some else has ?? like do you realize how stupid that is?
Zeta also just picked up who is looking like the number 2 smash ultimate player in the world
Glad they used this series to explain some stories "worth telling," think the thumbnail could do better at clickbaiting/doing the video justice
I HECKING LOVE ZETA
NICE~
nah bro no way yall made this coincidentally 2 days after commend released their video on this
Can we get video about PRX?
They didnt know how fucking hype valorant in japan is.
This video came after Commend's video on Zeta Division 🤔🤔
Hell yea Zeta!
not hate but did they steal this from Commend?
Nah dont need u to tell us, cuz cmend just did yesterday
I don't follow Valorant that much but it kinda is surprising to me that the game is big in Japan (and even Apex)
apex community at japan is very active. if you know scarz even there roster european there team is actually originated from japan, crazy racoon is active on organizing apex tournament on lower tier even vtuber community is also active on the scene.
@@s2-railgun718 Yeah but why. I mean out of all the other BR games, why Apex? What made it click with the Japanese?
@@BrokenNoah i think the artstyle of the game is one of them.
@@BrokenNoah I remember a comment from a Vtuber clip video a while back about why Apex is popular in Japan. Many factors come into play, Art style could be one of the reasons as mentioned above this reply. But here's what I know, and this info might be wrong so take it with a grain of salt.
The commenter from a vtuber clip said Apex is easy on the game optimization side of things. I have seen PC vs Console in Japan with the latter being more dominant in the wider audience, while PC's in Japan are mostly a niche in some cases with sizable stocks yet fairly unknown location of those parts shops (These shops are known, just not noticed enough to be bothered going with PC shopping since Console influence). It seems that Apex can be run on a decent-enough PC for decent gaming/light-load streaming performance. Also, the gameplay of Apex resonates a lot with Japanese gamers due to the movement and shooting mechanics being fun enough to go for nutty plays, just like the rest of the western Apex players but less tryhard and more methodical.
It's finally time for Japan to leave the old age and embrace the new esports. I love the old Japanese fgc pros especially the 4 SF gods but everybody else has been stuck on consoles and arcades for too long already
Hey thescore, make a video about k3soju qualifying for worlds Okayge
woo jessGOAT
How long has this channel been stuck at 1.98 m subscribers 😂😂😂
Hope Zeta rebounds to a strong 23 year!!
How about make a League version it was more hyped
Bro Japanese commentary is goateeeed
LOUD When?
do a video on prx
honestly Valorant JP and KR got the best drip
Holy fck the Japanese announcers are HYPE ASF
insandiariiiiii
Team Secret from the 1st champion deserves a story telling like this :)
would love to see more asian teams in worth, maybe a story on PRX?
They’ve done one a while back
@@trey8725 they didnt cover paper rex as a team they just cover f0rsaken playing yoru and reaching top 4 in iceland
these dudes could probably pass as jpop boy band. hahaha
I need Japanese subtitles for this video.😭
asia with top 3 finishes this year
when i think of japan's gaming community, i only think of FGC and gacha games (and a bit of apex). But then, Valorant happened and the japanese turns out to be cracked
1.98M congrats finally off 1.97 for months
Omsim
Mismo
This video is what yall should have done for DRX winning worlds. "Deft beat faker" is such a shit title
Funny thing is... most of the players used to play CS professionally, but didn't find much international success, and even much success on an international scale in APAC tournaments.
Are you going to give credit to commend for this?
Laz
Can we talk about DRX but LoL
makiba=superboy
Hot take: if zeta didn't throw in challengers and made Champs they would of gotten a lot higher than northdeception did.
Extremely hot take: they would of beat loud in playoffs. Loud didint PLAY nearly as good as they did in the grand finals
you stole this video idea didn't you?
i wont see scream :(
@commend made a video just like this a day or two ago. This is stolen so please give credit to commend or delete the video.
ok what’s stolen, they covered the same thing but what is exactly stolen
Commend’s video better
😐
Tbh this was an amazing video but cmmd has a better vid at this topic
Commend literally just realized a video on this 💀. Copy cats
Still no TI vid. Lmao
this video seemed a copy of cmnds video
Day 6 of asking for a TI video
DAE get bothered when they say things like of all time or best in history when talking about valorant? The game is 2.5 years old guys... use better descriptors!
Now we just need Valorant to become a better game...
bruh stop copying Commend's video
If theScoreEsports loves me, pin this comment.
Copied the exact same video from Commend, another common L for your channel
yall fell off fr
They lost to tier A CSGO PUGGERS.... let that sink in... Not even Tier S. Tier A.... Marved... crashies.. FNS.... yay.... LOL ... When you have the likes of Astralis and fAze , liquid csgo which are miles miles ahead of Optic. ITs so sad to see them move to such a shit game cuz of money. Then again they would have never made it out alive in CSGO, not even close.
NORTH AMERICA needs new game 😭😭😭 Valorant is deaaad! 😭😭😭 NA not best anymore..
Valve should do something to revive CSGO to Japan. VALORANT is not enjoyable to watch.
