VCT Masters Tokyo has by far been the best Valorant tournament in recent history. A lot of underdog stories being made , upsets and surprise star players rising up for their teams. This shows a lot of promise for the future of the upcoming VCT pro scene.
Its the best, but im kinda sad the crowd isnt as loud as even the first live crowd in copenhagen. Great games make it interesting, loud crowds make it entertaining

Stopped being a Valorant comp fan a year ago and EDG specifically KangKang reignited my passion to watch comp Val again. I hope to see them make a run at champions
Honestly I didn’t even look twice at EDG at the start. Didn’t pay attention to the Chinese valorant scene. But damn KangKang had so much hype and fire that I’m a fan now
This is one of the biggest reasons I love valorant competitive scene and I'm glad I wasn't the only one, so many different regions playing and dominating, keep up the great content!
thats why i love this game, other games like overwatch are filled with mostly 1 or 2 regions, instead in valorant the global presence and the way that every region is represented ensures everyone has someone to root for
never really understood how some people undermined kangkang as a player. like some of them even said that he wasnt the best player on that team. i get it, but its a different kind of emotion when your star duelist is really feeling it especially on a stage that big. he pretty much hypes the team up and relieves them from their worries. Thats why i believe players showing emotion on stage is more important than those that stay chill or cold when they pull off a play.
I dont think they undermined him as a player. I think people also wanted to point out its a team game and that smoggy and nobody had just as much impact and clutches
Kang Kang's energy on stage alone was just the most electrifying thing to watch. I wish people could understand chinese lmfao because he's such a character whenever he does interviews and press conferences. Hes someone who demonstrates unmatched confidence but is always respectful and humble. hes a such an entertaining player to watch and the rest of the EDG team as well. i mean u just cant help to root for a team like this.
I've been thinking about the diversity in Valorant Esport too. I watched esport for quite a long time but mostly mobile esport even though I mostly play pc games. But then comes valorant and Paper Rex from SEA where I comes from. Seeing players from my region being on international stage and dominating feels so satisfying and makes me wanna root for them more. Btw I just wanna say that I love your video because it's hard to find content talking about valorant esport that is not game analysis.
Amazing video. I really can't even begin to underscore how amazing it is to see a team from SEA like PRX representing us in the global stage. It's primarily the reason I got interested in Val to begin with. Hopefully the regional parity continues!
Man now that I'm rewatching, I just realize how the 3 teams that were talked about, Kru, Zeta, and EDG, are all in champions. Interested on how they will play out. Hope them all the best. The underdogs always find a way.
I think DRX finally breaking their curse was another one of those moments as they beat major big teams like fnatic and almost reverse swept the OG optic in the lower finals
Love the video, and I think it does a great job explaining why competitive Valorant is so much fun. Would love to see a video on EG. EG and EDG are the perfect examples of why this scene is so much fun.
Valorant’s the first game I’ve really enjoyed in a long time. Got me back into competing, and esports as a whole. Games not perfect, tbh I think they did a great job so far.
Valorant will keep going and it'll be as great as CS in the future. The Master Tokyo 's events was ridiculously so fun to watch, especially the production is phenomenal when they make a documentary/cinematography things about each teams and their motivation to compete. Can't wait for the Champions gonna feels like.
Fun fact: valorant was not even released and was unknown in china before vct tokyo. The only few had to play with VPN in other servers. Just a few days ago, Riot officially released the game. Now, it will start the real deal. More and more chinese people will approach this game. Maybe in few years, it will become like the LPL(chinese lol league)
It also feels like each region brings their own unique styles and strategies to the game. PRX's aggressive style would be called "braindead" by everyone in NA if they were an NA team. Then there is the big difference in the map preference - NA has only ever lost once to another region on pearl. I don't know if the import rule is responsible, but I think that it's super cool that each region develops their own meta and they clash in weird and interesting ways whenever international tournaments roll around.
I believe the popularity of such games as Valorant rely on a lie based on hype. I don't think It'd be wrong to say that one has no business playing Valorant if they : -don't care about team strategy -don't comm, either sharing information or proposing strategies -blame their mates instead of helping them to perform well -are toxic in-game -are not willing to question their own playstyle If one fits at least one of these criterias (which, as a plat player, most people up to there do), it's quite certain they'd much more enjoy ffa-oriented fps games such as Krunker, GunZ or deadshot. Thing is, it sounds much more prestigious to ace on Reyna rather than being on a 15 killstreak on "a game no one cares about", which I believe would be the main reason why many people stay on Valorant despite it clearly not being the best for them. When people will realize how they only stay on Valorant, blinded by the hype without asking themselves wether they actually love the game, they will probably leave and head towards ffa/singleplayer shooters. Though, seeing how easy it still is for the gaming industry to manipulate massive amounts of people (if it wasn't the case, live service would be long gone), it probably won't happen as long as I'm alive lolo
Can confirm the scene is super interesting, even as someone who just came into the scene or the game in general since like lockin. I'm hooked to the scene as much as way back when with league during 2015-2018. Eventho i have to be honest, the live viewing experience is so bad coming from LoL where it's easier to follow, it's a fast paced game with all information gathering skills, so a lot of moments have to be missed (guaranteed i was challenger in LoL so i could follow it better and only diamond in Valorant), but when the highlights happen, it hits hard. It's great as someone who doesn't really care about which team is winning too, every teams have players who i like/love to watch and want them to perform well (tho fnatic has 4 so i'm kinda biased for them).
shoutout to the casting as well, used to think that the casting for valorant was fine to below average but bren and sideshow (while they were already great casters in the past) have improved to be some of the most iconic voices in esports, balla and doug always have great commentary, and while i don't like pansy's casting a ton, can't deny it's definitely gotten better. if you don't have these voices behind these landmark moments, valorant wouldn't generate anywhere near as much hype
Listen I’m all for valorant esports, I watch the games occasionally and the games I do watch I do enjoy. But I don’t think any ability shooter is set to be an esport for multiple years. It’s the same way overwatch died, the only reason I think Valorant has a chance is because it’s backed by Riot who have a real life unlimited money glitch.
Dota 2 also has regions being equal and well represented, you never know who which region will win. That's why its the highest echelon of esports. If Valorant can reach that level it will also become a powerhouse.

I feel like riot is trying their best to make valorant one of the better fps games of all time. The new team deathmatch mode seems like a fun different way to play the game and im impressed that they took the time to develop three stand alone maps just for that game mode. It also opens the door for other game modes that use similar types of maps i.e. capture the flag, domination, hardpoint. idk if they will go that far but its def an option and would make them big time competitors against CoD for more casual fps players, theyd just need to find a way to make valorant playable on console.
not just the teams, within the teams there are poc members who ethnically belong to so many different countries. I live in India, and nrg and drx are RISING in popularity here because of vct.
