Of all the countries that I visited so far (19), Poland is by far my most favorite. Poland is the very essence of Europe. I have even thought about living there.
As a Pole, I will say just say that's it better not to, it's not worth it. While the country is beautiful and the culture is unique, it's still not enough to balance out the current political/economical situation. The majority of the country is extremely poor in comparison to most other European countries, the average hourly wage in our country is about 8 euros pre-tax, meanwhile, in comparison, Germany's minimum wage is 12 euros. Often two people with full-time jobs are just barely enough to pay rent here. It also doesn't help that our government is pretty much a form of populist autocracy - a single party is constantly holding rule by pretty much constantly promising social grants to those who are poor, grants that are taken from constantly increasing taxation, that in effect drives the economy down even more making everyone, even more, poorer, or constantly implementing "special requirements" to "make the elections fair" that often end up preventing the majority of voters from actually taking parts in them, or idk openly violating human rights and EU rights by outlawing access to basic resources like contraception, or by outlawing lgbt rights. Also, people here are often extremely xenophobic, they don't show it to tourists because well, they bring in money, but they are often openly hateful towards most foreigners in everyday life situations.
@@jak582filmweb It sounds good to me compared to living in the USA. If you think Poland is bad try living here. Fascism and racism are on the rise, xenophobia and bigotry toward women are skyrocketing at a ridiculous pace. There are a great number of extreme far right politicians that are openly trying to destroy democracy. We have a Communist anti-American lunatic, (Trump), that has decimated our economic security, Foreign security, and World standing. I spent 6 months in Poland and I can say that it is Nirvana compared to this country.
@@aprilmay578 I am not saying that you don't have it bad too, tbh, in my opinion, choosing between living in America or Poland is like choosing if you want to cut off your arm or your leg - preferably neither. Both countries have an extreme rise in xenophobia and bigotry, and both have seen a violation of human rights to extreme levels(America mostly(but not only) on the racial background like the Police brutality, Poland mostly(but not only) on sex inequality background, like the law that prohibits you from aborting a child as a rape victim), and both are run down by Communist lunatics that are ruling them right now, my point was more akin to "The third choice of going somewhere else nearby that's much better and still visiting from time to time", like how I plan to move to Czech soon, much better living conditions at the cost of having to drive for 2h longer to see my family.
@@jak582filmweb Sorry, but the transparency of your extremism and your pedantic fallacious dichotomies demonstrates your insecurities to societal norms. which makes me disqualify your asserted suggestions

I know you won't believe me because of course an American knows more about how the life is here than us, but damn at least look at some statistics first. For example look at the democracy index to compare the freedom of voting, you know how bad it is in America then tell me that it's better here even though we are twice as far down the list in comparison, look at average wages and tell me it's not bad even though we are in the top 10 worst in Europe, look at the citizen happiness survey and tell me it's better here even though we are far behind you. It was pretty bad in the late 70's and early 80's; there were ever-present "Polish jokes" and anti-Polish stereotypes in the U.S. media. It seemed like a concerted, purposeful effort by certain people to make Polish Americans into second rate humans. Now it's no longer bad at all, I would even say that Poles are made fun of less than many other nationalities and ethnic groups. I think that this positive turnaround has to do with two primary things: one, unlike in the past today's Polish immigrants in the U.S. are highly educated and sophisticated (programmers, professionals); two: many people from US backwaters have finally met Poles (for instance people from Texas etc. have served together with Polish Army in various conflicts throughout the world) and realized that they are highly professional, civilized and intelligent people, and have exposed their neighbors to that fact.
My dad told me to always be careful who you tell that you are Polish. You are going to find out if someone is really a friend if they know. That vodka is also called "nalewka" - "pour in" and is made by infusing fruits or herbs in pure alcohol for months. Then this alcohol gets diluted by adding water with sugar. And often bottles matures for the next few months.
Actually THAT particular vodka "Soplica" have nothing in common with infusing fruits. IT is just flavoured vodka. The most popular vodka which have been made with fruits actually is Lubelska.
excellent choice of food, that is exactly what I would recommend to anyone visiting poland, I am yet to see someone try our traditional sour pickles though :D
my spanish friends flew to Wrocław for long weekend , having had no knowledge of polish food , went crazy about food and can not praise enough :żurek , pierogis , sausages , golabki and pastries .Since then they regulars in Polish deli .
Nothing like traditional pierogi. I still have my grandmother's pierogi bowl. At holidays, we passed the bowl around and took 3 each time until we couldn't eat any more - my father always won on number eaten. Always put sour cream and butter on top. As one of my grandmother's friends said after a shot of Polish vodka - 'that'll put hair on your chest'. Poonchki (as we pronounced it) is the best dessert ever with a custard filling!

Delightful Travellers omg Anna yes we will join you in a next door AIRBNB! We are working on 2020 adventures and Poland is a MUST!!! We didn’t have the vodka but the beer was INCREDIBLE! 😊
Pierogi is traditionally filled with a mixture of potatoes, FARMERS CHEESE (which is kinda like Ricotta, but not as sweet), bacon, and onions. Cottage chees is only used as a poor substitute in America. Depending on who you ask, some would even consider those to be "Ruskie Peirogi" (Russian). My other go-to favorite filling is stewed sauerkraut, onions, and mushrooms.
You both definitely need to try Smalec! It’s a lard with several different meats you can have put in - or in my case, the restaurant placed ground sausage in the middle. It’s a a serious side-dish or appetizer that is eaten on a slice of bread or toast. GOOD LUCK! It’s an absolute eye-opener when looking at a bowl of Crisco with meat in the middle...really, it reminded me and looked EXACTLY like that jar under the sink you use for bacon grease.

Eh?! The problem is that Trevor and Anna have never been to Eastern Europe. When I was in Canada, I explained that I do not know Russian and such things. Canadians explained to me every time that they are not American. I honestly thought I was in the USA. Only Quebec was very different than stereotypical America.Eastern Europe is only Russia, Ukraine and Belarus (sometimes Moldova is also included) . These three countries cover exactly half of the continent. You will see the difference in religion, alphabet, time zone, lack of oligarchs and dictators, etc. ruclips.net/video/Zi2WiAz1MTQ/видео.html Greetings from Central Europe.
Whatever you do is don't call Poland eastern Europe. Geographically Poland is located in Central Europe, but people say eastern because it used to be part of the Eastern bloc. But like I said always call Poland Central Europe or you will offend the Polish people, they can't stand being called Eastern Europe. It's funny Finland is North East of Poland but people consider Finland as part of western Europe, but Poland that's west of Finland is called Eastern Europe.

Oh you guys have to visit just for the food alone. Sorry for making you drool 🤤🤣 - Trevor
Hey im from poland food here is very good! I wrte eanglish so you could understand i hope you enhoy your stay
The filling in Paczki you had at the beginning of the video was also made out of rose. It's quite common to see this taste here :)
Yeah! Paczki with rose filling are the best
That little paczki was the best. What a treat that is. Yum! - Anna
Rose fruit.
The filling is rosehip preserve
Kraków is very expensive. 1 dolar for donut is high price, but yes we can do donats very good.
That vodka is also called "nalewka" - "pour in" and is made by infusing fruits or herbs in pure alcohol for months. Then this alcohol gets diluted by adding water with sugar. And often bottles matures for the next few months.
nobody cares how it's called. you go to china you also want to know how the beverage is called?
i really doubt they prepare it half a year. i'd bet a few weeks
@@creekalmighty Depends which one really. Also, it's just a "fun fact". And yeah, in China I will be curious how beverage is called.
@@The0Stroy cool
Actually THAT particular vodka "Soplica" have nothing in common with infusing fruits. IT is just flavoured vodka.
The most popular vodka which have been made with fruits actually is Lubelska.

awesome! thank you both very much! im very hungry now....
excellent choice of food, that is exactly what I would recommend to anyone visiting poland, I am yet to see someone try our traditional sour pickles though :D
Went to krakow from London one time and i am absolutely amazed by this city will be back next time
I live in the UK but I’m actually Polish! I love when people try food from my country!
I love dill. I put it on many things.
I would love to go to Poland and other places.
Have fun and success always.
Jezus, ale bym zjadła teraz pączka
my spanish friends flew to Wrocław for long weekend , having had no knowledge of polish food , went crazy about food and can not praise enough :żurek , pierogis , sausages , golabki and pastries .Since then they regulars in Polish deli .
Actually eating backed sausage while holding with with a bread slice is vital part of my childhood/teen/uni/life in general years 😀
So happy to see you guys like our food. Wish i could go back there!
Oil on pierogi is from caramelized onions being on a pan

Nothing like traditional pierogi. I still have my grandmother's pierogi bowl. At holidays, we passed the bowl around and took 3 each time until we couldn't eat any more - my father always won on number eaten. Always put sour cream and butter on top. As one of my grandmother's friends said after a shot of Polish vodka - 'that'll put hair on your chest'. Poonchki (as we pronounced it) is the best dessert ever with a custard filling!
Feel free to leave your grandmother's recipe here 😉 We've heard that phrase before as well. - Trevor
i can literally smell this sausage though the monitor. pls mercy. greeting from Poland
haha sorry about the smell ;)
Thanks for nice video guys 👍. Na zdrowie! 😊
Rose filling in pączek and rose vodka is made from wild rose fruit, not from flower. In Poland is a lot of wild rose, it grows literally everywhere
You can buy rose jam made from flower but it's rather expensive comparing to wild rose fruit jam.
Great video! It didn't LOOK as cold as the last video. Man how I wanted those flavored vodkas!!!!!
Steve it wasn't as cold... good catch. The vodka was so much better than we thought it would be. All those flavours really helped 🤗 - Anna

Angie! Merry Christmas. Thanks for the kind words... less donuts in January promise hehe 🏃🏻♀️ - Anna
i love the way you call polish food :) it's completly diffrent words but it's fuuny to hear that :)
Pronunciation cheats:
Multiple 'pączki' = punch key
One 'pączek' = pun cheque
Don't worry about not getting the ą sound right, many a native don't either ('włanczać światło')
Ohhh so smart. LOL
😂
Poonch key if your from MI 🤣

It's always funny to see foreigners trying REAL sausage for the first time, and they are like 'Wow, now every other one is so blend' ;)
You should go to Lodz on Piotrkowska Street, they sell fresh donuts, you can see for yourself how such a donut is made and fried, they sell it still hot.
oh my god guys you just make me so hungry!
it's nothing better like get a grilled sausage with the mustard 😋🤣😂
well done you two

If you come in summer go to Malbork in Poland and visit the castle there are a lot of shops and cool places for Pictures.
My family and I love Asian/Mediterranean food, but still love to devour our humble pierogies and preferred ones are ruskie with mint/cottage cheese/potatoes/caramelized onion filling and often with addition of friedbacon dumplings, occasionally in potatoes and flour dough (like Lithuanian Zeppelins) Either freshly boiled or if not fresh then pan fried. With sour cream.. my son loves sushi the most and pierogies as his second favourite dish...he is still in his early teens
Cały czas tylko tak kapusta, kiełbasa i pierogi ,kuchnia staropolska i regionalna to jest dopiero moc

We had our first pierogi in Canada last year. So good!
My favourite pierogi are filled with sour cabbage and wild mushrooms of course fried and the other ones are with blueberries and sweet cream.
Another dish I recommend are zrazy zawijane which is thin beef rolled and filled with bacon together with either kopytka or pyzy. Of course there is sauce on top of it.
Also try kartacze.
For dessert a piece of tort orzechowy filled with coffee cream or napoleonka.
Oh and don’t curse Poland after seeing results on your scale.

I highly recommend you visiting lublin it's a bit smaller than Kraków but it's a beautiful city with really beautiful history and places. I'm from lublin and really can say that it's very pretty and amazing. Also the best time to come to lublin is summer.
Next time! We've definitely heard about that place - Trevor
Ahh I'm so proud of my country UwU
Try the Dumpling soup. My Mom made this all the time.
It’s out of this world. The stuffed cabbage and chrusciki
Is a must.
The oil on the pierogi (around 7:15) is probably oil or butter coming from the onions that are on top of the pierogi ;-).
You have to try Łącka Śliwowica. This vodka is made from plums and is only 70% strong.
Ohhh u havent even scratch the surface :D There is much much more to try in Poland :) Someone, should take u on a proper polish food tour :D

Delightful Travellers omg Anna yes we will join you in a next door AIRBNB! We are working on 2020 adventures and Poland is a MUST!!! We didn’t have the vodka but the beer was INCREDIBLE! 😊
Mouth watering 😋
Pierogi is traditionally filled with a mixture of potatoes, FARMERS CHEESE (which is kinda like Ricotta, but not as sweet), bacon, and onions. Cottage chees is only used as a poor substitute in America. Depending on who you ask, some would even consider those to be "Ruskie Peirogi" (Russian). My other go-to favorite filling is stewed sauerkraut, onions, and mushrooms.
if you would like to try a very traditional Polish dish, I recommend trying the dish called "Bigos"
Dobre pączki .
Fajny film
food is food regardless where you are from , but being Polish i find it special .... thank`s and God love :)
Nice country i love this country.from srilanka...

I also regret of lacking snow in Poland nowadays. It used to be snow since November. When you will go to eastern Europe don't forget to visit Poland for few days. All the best and happy new year.

Greetings from Central Europe.
