Using snips take a lot of grip strength, something that most women don't have in abundance. There are however devices out there to strengthen your grip, like spring grip exercisers, or sponge rubber balls that you squeeze to make your grip stronger. You're doing fine though and the car is coming along, the one thing I would say is stop putting yourself down, you're a very talented and gutsy girl, keep on keepn on.👌👍
You need to do all the welding ,you need to do more ,and you ,in the end, could be the one that everyone comes to for all the welding, come on girl , get in welding today, it’s so good to know how to weld, you got this , thanks BigAl California.
Just take your time with the tools and your confidence will grow, your doing fine so far and its looking great
Thanks so much!
Go Ahead And Do The Welding Yourself That’s The Best Way Too Learn Great Videos 👍
Never forget, you are doing this for you and you are allowing us to follow along. You will do just fine and we will be fine as well.
So true!
I love the vlog, you are really good at it , we are not the ones that make your titles of what you do on here, we watch because we love watching you , so be you and be grace based Christian Christ, and we will be right here for you, thanks BigAl California praise Jesus Christ grace amen 🙏
Hi guys. Kelly, you are doing the right thing by getting Travis to weld for you. It saves you time and your safety should be paramount. This is your project car and if you get your kids to weld for you it is none of our business. You have Travis that welds everyday, why not use that resource? The rebuilt flathead is waiting to be paid. I get it and this is why I watch. Tell us what you had done in the rebuild, what are specs, how much power will it produce ? Who did the engine rebuild ? I am not a flathead guy so I am also learning from this build. Why a flathead over a more powerful and update power train ? Just curious. I think you are doing well and as always, your videos are entertaining. Things will get easier and finished results will usually get better with experience. If the cutoff wheel bothers you, maybe find a smaller version like a dremel. I have used their tool in the past and it is lighter and easier to control. Fix items as you go. I have a lot more questions but will ask another time. Thanks for allowing us to watch. Have fun and stay safe.
Kelly! remember when you said, "not sure why 'm measuring this again"? As old Ross Perot said, "measure twice, cut ONCE!!"
you are doing an excellent job!
So true!!
That's a lot of credit to Mr Perot. I'm not sure he coined the phrase, though many people have indeed used it. Words to live by!
If you are not comfortable with using a cut off wheel. Try using a metal blade made by Dremel. I personally use them. You won't regret looking into it. Btw, you guys are doing a great job 👍👍
I was like you and didn't want to try stuff cause of me breaking it more. Then it hit me that if I mess it up I know someone can help me fix it or they can fix it. Anyway I've had to get help but I've not messed up that bad YET and watching them work on things it happens to them to so everybody needs help some more than others but still you need to try. If you don't you'll never get better at it or will always get someone else to do it. I turned 60 and I love to learn and got to the point that I wished I had tried doing stuff earlier in life so please don't wait jump on in Trav had to start somewhere yes he's good and can get it done cause of all the time he's put in. Some tools are loud and throws sparks wear ear protection and glasses and it may not get to you as bad. Thanks for posting.
They do make a 3in grinders in battery or electric that may will work better for you in name brands and off brands
I’ll have to look into it!
You did fine. I had to use cut off tool on my job sometimes not often and they are scary to use.
One day at a time; One goal at a time.
Exactly!
Practice makes perfect keep on doing what you do doing great job
Thank you, I will!!
@@KellyBuilds Awesome keep it up
@@KellyBuilds Excellent
It’s funny , your going to look back on this ,and laugh your rearend off some day,, when your cutting off all kinds of metal, with the side winder grinder, cut off wheel thanks BigAl California.
Haha I hope so!!
You can do it! Perfect is over-rated. Use Travis in fixing the mistakes.
Good point haha
You are doing a great job on this build. Having a fear of the grinder with a cut off wheel is healthy. Just don’t let it control you. Turn it into a healthy respect for the cut off wheel. You can get this and be able to master the cut off wheel. Keep up the great work.
I like that lookout on it
Nobody ever does perfect work to begin with. Keep taking small steps. Every journey begins with a single step. There is NO substitute for practice. I’m a professional woodturner, and every small thing - such as replacing that small piece - adds to your body of experience. I recently had to use a cut off wheel on steel for the first time. It was kind of scary, even with my decades of power tool experience. You did great on the BMW, so don’t over-think this. It gets easier every time. Of course, it would go quicker if you were doing it 8 hours a day. Since that’s impossible for you, keep on with your small victories. 😎
Super cool dig the vids
Thank you!
I understand the getting the help, but really you should tackle it yourself. It's exciting to see it come together while your scared that your fucking it up. either way though watching you learn is awesome
When it comes to powered grinders, I personally prefer a battery powered cut off grinders because powered grinders dont stop immediately, where as battery powered grinders do. Just think about buying a cheap one for starters.
For marking metal especially on black use white out it last really well even when cutting and welding around it.
Yayyyy that's awesome so cares what people say my wife has to help me sometimes on small jobs because I have big man hands which i have no patience for hahaha so if your hubby has to help u then he helps u his your partner in crime great job thou Kelly u did awesome 👍😎😊
you won"t learn how to tig weld unless you try fail and try again it will come to you
True!
@@KellyBuilds you Know It
get a grinder with a paddle switch - easier to control
Awesome honey
Thank you 😊
You need a face shield to protect your face and eyes 👀.
just go for it there is always some way to fix it with filler
You are doing gteat
It is a learning experience. Glad your hubby can help you when you need help. Learning is supposed to be fun. Not to mention, you are a Mom. Sorry, but that is a job I could never do. You're the crucible of humanity. The backbone of society. Getting some help and learning as you go is more than enough.
Thank you!!!!! Agreed
Practice makes perfect, and will help you get over your fear of the grinder! One thing that might ease your fear would be a full face shield (you can get a mild shaded one which will help you see better through the sparks! Really like that Travis is using the stock tank on the '32, looks fantastic! Go Kelly and Travis, keep moving forward!
Thank you so much!!
T
he only way you're going to learn is to do it. You will make mistakes but that is how you learn. Just do it, !!! Travis will back you up.
True!!
You're doing a great job 👍 I always enjoy your videos and appreciate you taking us along for the ride!
I’m glad you enjoy watching!
Awesome 👍
Do you have an air nibbler and if so I’m pretty sure that you would be way more comfortable using it instead of the slice and dice.
Good idea!
Just a suggestion but a dremal tool would give u a lot better control and thats what I use to do a patch job less vibration and more control
Thanks for the tip!
Never feel that you have to get it right the first time. Take your time. Some times we need to do it twice to make it nice.
You are right!! Next patch will be differnt
No guessing. You're on the right track.
😊
Hi I need rear fender for a 1936 ford 5 window coupe😢❤🎉😊
Kelly do yous make steel fenders or buy them , I have fiber glas ones but would like
Steel ones or should I make them piece by piece and weld together.
If Travis just does the work for you he's not helping you he's just doing the work for you. Just overlap the new panel over the existing bodywork tack weld it or clamp it the ends and cut both panels at the same time. That way the cuts will match exactly and there will be a gap between the panels that is precisely the thickness of the cutting wheel. And the cut off wheel is not something that is going to hurt you. You should just get some old scrap sheet metal, chuck it up in the vice and practice cutting on something that you can't f up because it's just scrap. You're not going to be able to sheet metal if you can't use a cut off wheel. I watched the whole video and I never saw you do any part of welding in the panel. You're going to have to change the name of the channel to Travis Builds While Kelly Watches!!😁😁
I feel like I do quite a bit of work on my car, compared to some who just send their cars out to have someone do it all. And if I’m not doing it, I’m right there watching and learning.. Travis does this full time as his job. I’m 1000% fine having him help me do stuff? Like I said I’m never just in the house relaxing … I’m in the shop with him. We do things a certain way here. Very precise and we like things done perfectly. Who wouldn’t want a professional to help them?! For free?! And I had talked about the welding a few times I believe. Travis has his own channel, feel free to watch his if you want more of a professional.
@@KellyBuilds I guess what I'm saying is not that your work isn't professional but part of the appeal of your channel is watching someone who is learning as they do it. You shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes. The old saying you learn from your mistakes implies that first you have to make the mistakes before you can learn from them.
You are a good fabricator!
Huh?
Looks good, Great job.
Thank you!!
You're doing fine. The death wheel is always a little scary. It's a tool that can hurt you but as long as you keep control of the tool you'll be fine! It just takes "Seat Time".
Well I will say this YOU ARE DOING BETTER THAN MOST MEN... Yes you may get angry with yourself but hay you are learning you are lucky to have a husband that can show you and help you. You just go girl try try try again...
