    If the devs could make that non functional button a programmable button to turn the lights on or off in the studio, or anything else in the house, that would set it apart from everything else in the market.
    In all seriousness, I watched a video with one of the co-founders, and he's an extremely cool cat and I was sold on this product not only for it's sounds but the human beings behind the device. Just two and that is amazing! I know the people are not what I hear when playing a device yet they are so critical in the experience.
    Thank you for sharing this update and exited to see how this evolves.

    With the right effects, this will be a great little piece of hardware. Thank you for showing us the prototype. It nice to see something like this taking shape. 👍

    I looked at this at Superbooth and while I've been a bit sceptic whether there might be too many hidden functions and menu diving on the bug-sized screens, the demo I was given seemed very thought through and intuitive. At half the size of the Tasty Chips GR-1, it can pretty much do the same with a very clever visual feedback (I was afraid it was lacking that as it doesn't have a big screen like the GR-1). So I'm keeping an eye on it - if Tasty Chips keeps producing truck sized successors and fails to fix saving and loading projects in a more user-friendly, less Windows-like manner, I might as well switch to the Tempera, for less money.
    So my video content wish: do a comparison of the GR-1 and Tempera that considers the whole workflow: getting samples into it, making a pad, adding effects like reverb/delay, steering the machine via MIDI CC and program/bank change, DAW integration.

    I‘m more than happy to get in early. One thing I would love to see it the ability to create rhythmic pattern for melodic tech productions. For sure Tempra seems to be the ultimate tool for intros and drone based soundscapes. I would love to see how to create quick rhythmic pattern and loops in a more procussive and groovy approach. Just a bit like Moog‘s Subharmonicon does.

  • @ArtificialSoundLab
    @ArtificialSoundLab Год назад +3

    Would be cool to have live looping capabilities with possibility to mangle audio rhythmically in real time. Considering it has 3.5 jack midi out and possibilty to sample would be great to send analog clock through that jack, sync modular or semi and perform live.

    Feature ideas/request: Accelerometer and Touch Motion recording.
    For the accelerometer I’d like to strum, flick, etc the surface in vertical, horizontal, diagonal to trigger the samples, effects, etc.
    For touch motion recording, I’d like to snake my finger across the surface and have the speed and path looped after I lift my finger off.

    A couple of items of possible interest are filter tracking input midi note (or some sort of position on the grid), pitch detection, and pitch correction for samples that do not necessarily fit the Western scale exactly, For the last one, I am thinking recordings of sounds from the environment or sounds from oddball synths that don't necessarily track pitch or admit fine tuning.

    Why there are no tempert granular videos coming? The device should now be delivered to many users. Why there are no videos arriving? RUclips is absolute empty if searching for „Tempera Granular“, for the last 2 month.

    Synths and MIDI keyboards never really did it for me. Love the sounds we can do with them but never felt like it was for me. But this new Granular and Convolution effects stuff is just amazing. This has me interested for sure. Must be because I can start with sounds I capture or play and manipulate them into unique spacescapes or even melodic lines. - Disclaimer, I'm guitar player so a lot of the technical jargon and commonplace keyboard stuff goes right over my head. Considering the Texture Lab for a starting point into this Wild West of Synthesis and maybe a Poly Verb convolution reverb next year. This stuff is too cool to leave alone.

    Thanks for sharing some content about tempera :) I got into the first batch and looking forward to learn more about how it actually works. I still have a bit of hard time wrapping up my head around the 8 samples / 4 emitters / polyphony relationship as well as the feature that (apparently) allows to "grab and play" some of the samples next to the playing one. If you can give more explanation on this, it would be great :)

    MUST be on board:The possibility to control the sample play position from the grid vertically per sample and to also do this with poly AT. I basically want to use the sample content itself for dynamic control, basically replacing the need for a filter to control brightness.

      Thanks for watching! Mine came with a few loaded sets of samples and emmiter settings which as a whole are called “Canvases” for now (those would be equivalent to presets I’d say). I assume the finished version will ship with a few of these including some of mine👍🏼

    This looks really cool. However, I am uncomfortable spending that much money on a preorder and it looks like the next batch won’t release until early next year. I think it’ll be a couple of years before I will get my hands on this.

    Not sure I dig. I have real issues working with Granular Synthesis when I cannot visualise the sound form of the sample and the location from it used for generating sound. This to me feels like going into it blindfolded.

    I want more granular hardware, but am not willing to preorder a pig in a poke, for $710, and wait 5(?) months to get it.
    Will have to wait for the product to mature, and see some more in depth reviews, by end users, like Loopop,
    and have units in stock at Detroit Modular, before I press the Buy button 🙂

      It’s very easy to make granular synthesis turn into a reverb, which i also am not a fan of. I already have reverbS. What I’ve never had but really want are the glitchy stuttery individual grains. GR-1 has long been contemplated but haven’t tried it yet.

    At 840 Euros, it's 1/3 of the cost of a Push 3 with a Live Suite license, which gives you granular, wavetable, subtractive, FM and what-have-you synthesis, among with endless effect chains, super expressive MPE pads a la Linnstrument, a fully featured sampler, looper, song sketchpad, sequencer and live performance instrument. Not saying it's an obvious choice at all, but it's worth pointing out that this is a lot of money for a niche instrument. Perhaps Hans Zimmer could help us pick. 😊

    • @MidlifeSynthesist
      @MidlifeSynthesist  Год назад +6

      Fair point! However, this can also be applied to pretty much everything in the synth world. Why pay 5000 dollars for an oberheim obx8 if it only gives you 8 voices of polyphony when you could buy a push3 and a macbook for less? Why pay 2000 dollars for a P bass if you could get an Op-1 field? It’s a pretty funny thing really, because price is so dependent on the value we personally assign things. Hopefully someone will find the value in Tempera for what it is. Also I like supporting people like Andre and Adam (the two guys who are the company that makes this and Vector) so they can continue innovating and make new sound machines. Food for though! Thank you for watching my friend!

      @@MidlifeSynthesist Yes I agree, and the love individuals put into the instruments they create are often felt when using them, and that warrants a premium. The Syntakt is one such example for me (and really the Digitone and Digitakt too): you really sense the love that was put into its design, the thoughtful adventurous features like ctrl+all, the design of the key combos and their consistency. Contrast this with an MPC, which feels like it was designed by a committee and at least 10 independent product teams. 🙈 Still a great device (the MPC) but not nearly as intimately connected to your hands when you play it.

    • @sinewaymusic
      @sinewaymusic Год назад +1

      @@MidlifeSynthesist I forgot to say: the reason why I thought the Push 3 might be a relevant comparison was because of the expressiveness of the pads and the granular synthesis in a similar grid layout. Perhaps that's where the similarities end though?

    • @MidlifeSynthesist
      @MidlifeSynthesist  Год назад +1

      @@sinewaymusic I’ll have to try the out the Push 3 someday first to say for sure😜 congrats on the purchase! It looks sweet🙌🏻

    • @sinewaymusic
      @sinewaymusic Год назад

      @@MidlifeSynthesist I should have been clearer, I don't own the Push 3, it's still just GAS! But I do love the idea of an expressive granular synth and I'd love an all-in-one box again after selling the MPC because I didn't gel with the effects synths and workflow.
      I do own and love the Syntakt though. Such a creative little beast. If you find the time, please check out my latest jam with the Syntakt and SP-404 mk2 playing together, I'd love your feedback. 😊 I find ctrl+all to be one of the most inspiring features of any instrument I've owned, and it's what let do the chiptune intro, the dark outtro and the "vibey" (as Bo Beats would put it) break in the middle. That thing just writes music by itself. Cheers!
