Kenepuru Road Marlborough Sounds

Tuesday 10 December, 2024 marked the first time since 2021 that stock trucks have been able to travel the length of Kenepuru Road in the Marlborough Sounds. A slip, known as 'water tank slip' occurred following a storm in July 2021, significantly damaging the road and limiting access to remote farms, as well as homes and baches in the area. Work to repair the road involved construction of a 98m retaining wall, drainage improvements and road reinstatement. The reopening was a significant milestone for farmers, residents, businesses, contractors and visitors to the area, as well as for Marlborough Roads and roading crews.
