- Join me on a whirlwind 24-hour journey through the delightful streets of Stockholm to explore the city's unique coffee culture, with a special twist -our mission, to find the elusive Kaffeost, a traditional Swedish Cheese Coffee. This rare delicacy combines the robust flavour of coffee with the creamy texture of a special cheese called leipäjuusto, and I was determined to taste this unique combination.
With the clock ticking, I popped in on iconic cafes, hidden local spots, and even ventured to lesser-known neighbourhoods in search of Kaffeost. Along the way, we encounter local baristas, shop owners and even cheese experts, each sharing their insights and honestly pointing me to further confusion.
Whether I find Kaffeost or not, this adventure is more than just tasting a rare coffee drink, it is to embrace the unexpected and discovering new aspects of Stockholm’s vibrant culture. Don’t forget to hit like, subscribe, and ring the bell for more coffee adventures around the world!

Please tell me if you've ever tried this Kaffeost out in the wild, and where I can find it next time!
I'm Swedish and I have never heard about this. According to Swedish Wikipedia, the "kaffeost" is a type of oven-baked cheese which is served together with coffee or indeed in the coffee. It appears to be from the regions in northern Finland, but apparently it is also found in some parts of northern Sweden. Regardless, it seems to be a rural thing, so I'd be surprised if there's any place in Stockholm that serves it.
I understand, it’s not a Stockholm specific thing and wouldn’t expect it in every cafe, but it’s the same country so I thought there has to be at least one place that served it, for cultural value. I’ll find it eventually lol
I live in northern Sweden and here it can be found in some supermarkets and other shops, but I have never seen it been served in the coffee shops. It’s the perfect thing to serve when you have guests from abroad (or even from south of Sweden) 😅
That makes me so glad to hear (that I’m not going crazy haha). Look forward to visiting northern regions some day :)
Brodie, I had a similar situation trying to find the Telemann museum in Hamburg. Nobody heard of the museum and most of the people ask, never heard of Telemann. So on the Ferry ride back my hotel, I listen to Telemann's Wassermuzik. It was beautiful moment sailing up the Elbe on the river that inspire this work of music.
Oh wow haha. Weird when those things happen, but magical when you can make your own experience of it. Did you find it in the end online?
@@BrodieVissers Unfortunately, no and I was headed back home the next day but I had a great experience just sailing on the Elbe.
Interesting video! Especially for someone from Sweden. I never heard about Cheese Coffee either but maybe it's not such a bad idea.
Haha maybe less caffeine spike
Minuto a minuto del video esperaba que encontrarás este café 😢 ☕ internet nos ha mentido a todos 😅
Jaja parece que si
Wow what a search! You know what!? Grandma does it at home ( Ecuador) saycheese 😄
Haha wow really? So it happens in Latin America too with coffee?
Never heard of this! Interesting finding!l. May be a new style to add to coffee shop’s offerings ! ☕️ 🧀 😊
I think so too! Always room to learn from traditional coffee cultures :)
I remember hearing about this in old explorer books and also a Swedish noir tv show.. I've tried it at home a few times and it's pretty good
Oh wow! That’s cool, seems like a lost tradition lol
It reminds me of Colombians putting cheese in hot chocolate 😅
My recommendation is to use a cheese that melt better next time 😂
Haha true! The halloumi is the least melting cheese, but it was recommended in some recipes
I thought kaffeost was norwegian? Or sàmi?
I think you need to go to Lapland (sapmi) mate! Possibly Luleå
Yes next time I’ll go north. It exists in Sweden though, which is why I thought I could at least find one shop to make it
