Let’s Explore Drinks of the World, One Sip at a Time
I’m Brodie, and I help curious drink enthusiasts discover the stories, cultures, flavours, and traditions inside every cup, glass, or flask.
I started my liquid journey through the love of coffee in 2016 when I founded The Nomad Barista as essentially an excuse to connect with the coffee magic makers around the world through photography, words, and eventually video.
Now, I work to bridge the gap between culture and commerce by helping brands tell the impactful stories behind the drinks of the world from roasteries in Istanbul, to farms in the highlands of Ethiopia, to sake breweries in Japan, and everywhere in between.
Grab your cup, and see you out there!

AEROPRESS vs HARIO V60: Which Coffee Brewer is Better FOR YOU?
After trying out every possible brewing method and coffee bean, plus thousands of lattes, what i enjoy the most is my instant Cafe Bustelo. 10 year coffee drinker and barista.
Greetings from Ukraine! Thanks for the review. Tell me, which specific IMS basket is better to change to?
Did you bring any beans back to BCN?? I wanna try 🙏
One thing about mokapot is it brews the coffee at 100degrees.
Nebroni
Hot water is not worth the loss of freedom. Stop shilling for the CCP.
What?? The water was free
@@BrodieVissers It cost you shilling for the CCP.
I congrat you for these beautifully blended coffee shop list ❤ Our city is beyond, thanks for sharing it
What kind of coffee powder one uses while preparing turkish coffee. Does it require filtering
👏👏👏
The basket size of Nanopresso Barista Kit is 16g, not 12g! Plus you're comparing de nanopresso in pressurized-mode Vs the Pico (who's no-pressurized), but the bid advantage of Nano is that you can choose if you want to use it with valve or without it. Thanks for the video.
Picopresso: @10:10 … two fingered squeezing on 13 clicks and 18g ?!! WOW. I cannot use anything finer than 16 clicks and 14 g … I’ve tried dozens of combinations and get a really, really nice espresso with 17 clicks/14g dark roast. Dropping to 15 clicks (or lower) and more g’s (as in the video) means I have to overcome around 5 million bars of pressure. I love my Picopresso now, but was really disappointed for the first few weeks as I just couldn’t nail it. I also have the Minipresso GR2 - it’s basically a smaller, lighter version of the Picopresso with a cup … but the Picopresso produces a (much) better coffee.
Thanks for the upload. Barn and alchemy looks like my kinda place
The smart plug is such a good tip to get rid of that warm up time omg
haha, yeah this guy's genius
Awesome 👏🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video and a very nice home setup! I am aiming for the Appartmento in the near future too. Now I am using Gaggia Classic (8 bar mod) + Kinu Phoenix So far so good but when I want to make back to back drinks it is a pain so I almost never do it.. Usually I make Chemex for myself and a flat white for my spouse. But even then Gaggia has a problem with weak steam (that partially resolve "one hole" tip mod but not completely). So I am looking forward for an upgrade and think that Appartamento will do it for me.
Oh wow, so you grind your espresso by hand? That would definitely be a chore. I'm still a sucker for a good ol' filter coffee ;)
@@BrodieVissers Yep, it is actually not a so much hustle like it sounds ) I am grind for filter too with my C40 it takes about a minute total. I use to have Hario hand grinder - that thing was a real exersice...
Wow, really cool! I didn’t think you could grow coffee in Spain. Where exactly is the farm located?
Yeah, typically you can't, but they're starting to make it happen with hard work and ingenuity :). It's just outside a town called Torelló in Catalunya. Feel free to check out their Instagram!
This is so cool man, thank for sharing. I can’t wait to taste Catalan coffee 😊😊😊
Appreciate it!! And yes, me too once it's ready, haha.
*I enjoy your channel. It's great to see someone like Juan and his passion to make Spain coffee beans possible. I can't wait for your next episode of this coffee farm by Juan and his team* People Hey, just give Brodie a thumbs up come on man!
Thanks so much! Means a lot :) always inspiring meeting passionate people!
What's the most unconventional coffee origin you've ever sipped? Soon, it could be Spain.
What is with the ai voice audio track? It made the video unwatchable. If you repost with your voice maybe ill watch
I'm not sure how that got there, but you can turn it off in settings. I definitely didn't upload it with that voice.
11:23 you are talking about me???
haha, honest mistake.
Hiii where can I order this coffee bags?
You can order them on The Miners Coffee website :)
It tends to over extract if it’s too fine or under extract…
where did you get that kettle its really nice
Tremendo café del FortPienc
What would you say is a better buy for use with both aeropress and picopresso? Deciding between Kingrinder K6 (€99) or Wacaco Exagrind (€130)
I kept looking to see opinions about the kit for connecting to the water network and pre-infusion, I didn't find anything, nobody says anything in all the videos posted on you tube. There is talk of pre-brewing but nothing of pre-infusion
Me encanta!!
GR2 is same with pico presso
the only time i need to rinse is when i use wave filter or ceramic dripper. after i master (well... kinda) the osmotic flow, method that i use it daily nowadays, i really stopped rinsing it.
A true runner! "My Strava is going to be all over the place". 😅😅😅
Can the plumbing be connected directly into it ?
which one is better taste?
Newer one
Awesome video! What do you use to make it zoom in slowly like that? Been trying on Capcut and I can't find anything with that effect 😅
Thanks! I actually edited this on on premiere pro on the computer but CapCut does have it too. Not sure if it’s only available on premium though, it’s the slow zoom or something like that
A broad North American accent forcing a European accent when using a borrowed word will forever give my body the creepy shimmies. I do get the struggle - when I order a croissant in the US, and I do speak French, I struggle to find a way to pronounce it without upsetting either my ear or those around me. It's a hard balance. But pushing all in on the bad accent is rarely the right choice. Lastly, super quickly, the word "Arabica" in this context comes from Latin, not Italian. You're safe tucking away the accent on that one.
Where is the full video?
It’s on my channel
What if you mix both coffees together? Dies it make the best coffee ever?
Maybe! try and let me know :)
What kind of kettle is this?
Fellow Kettle
The whole purpose for purchasing a portable espresso machine is for traveling. There’s no room for grinder and scale. If I can’t get a decent cup of espresso using store bought pre-ground coffee on picopresso. I don’t see the point for purchasing it. Good to know. I shall continue searching for another brand.
That’s a great video funny too, you seem to great folks ✌🏻what grind setting you recommend on eureka for Esspresso?? Cheers Alan H
I am thinking of purchasing apartamento tca. Only part i am worried about is noice. How loud it is? I live in apartment in USA where people complain for every little noice. Thx
I have an apartamento and I can say it's really not that loud. The pump can be a bit noisy but it's only pumping for a couple of seconds. The louder machine will probably be the grinder.
@ Thank you very much
How do you know it's actually gold flakes. I've seen in the store in baking section fake gold flakes?
Because of the place we were in and the credibility the prestige. They wouldn’t be able to get away with faking it, but not something I would do again
Grind size make all the difference with a Moka pot And I find using an Aeropress filter over a typical Bialerti makes a huge difference in residual solids too
Good point, I didn’t refer to Moka pot grind size so much. Wouldn’t want to go too coarse. Nice tip about Aeropress filters. I didn’t get into it this time to keep things simple for the average brewer
:-)
Than you for the positive vibes. Hope this helps anyone thinking of starting a coffee shop. Can never have too many!
can you vary the pressure with the paddle?
Depends on where you go, I believe Kaffeost is more popular in Finland and Northern Sweden.
Which did he like best
Interested, but I’ll wait for a version where an on machine timer is started when the shot is started. Too hard to watch a scale and my phone at the same time - last thing I want to be holding when I make my morning coffee is my phone.
The scale has timer
What's that automated payment system The coffee has?
