    Did you disconnect a fuel line? That struggling to start is a lack of fuel pressure

    • @Rick_Motorsport

      Hi George,
      I've done the service at the same time and I've changed the fuel filter as well, that's why it struggled to start.

    Great vid, I've had mined removed, I have noticed the effect of the swirl flaps being removed. Lack of low end torque, as the fuel isn't mixing as efficiently with the air no more, will try remapping

    I'm going to be doing this exact job on the same 2005 1 series m47 next week. It looks pretty straight forward. I've got the car for a cracking price however I feel the glow plugs are in need of replacement and plan to do them at the same time. Do you by any chance have a video on glow plug removal on this engine?

    • @Rick_Motorsport
      @Rick_Motorsport  3 года назад +2

      No I don't, but is very easy.
      As soon as you remove the intake manifold off you'll have a good access to the glow plugs, I recommend you to change the glow plugs relay as well.

      Indeed with the relay too!
      Get a ‘hitachi’ relay as they made them to withstand vibrations.
      If you have a glow plug fault with all 4 then it’s usually the relay but as you have to remove the inlet to get to them and the relay you might aswell delete the flaps @the same time!
      Dont forget to change the CCV filter!
      I do mine every service!
      It’s worth it! (Sits to the left of the injectors towards the back)

    • @Rick_Motorsport
      @Rick_Motorsport  3 года назад

      @@peterisrudens4013 if its difficult for you to buy the kit, you can use the original swirl flaps caps, just remove the swirl flaps, remove the metal part and then you end up wit a hole where the metal part was.
      Then you'll need to find a screw that covers the hole ( make sure it fits tight ) and use some silicone gasket to finish it, do that on all 4 and that's it.
      I done it once, because they sent me the wrong kit, so I had to do it that way and it worked perfectly.
      Hope that helps
