No wonder you decided to have an open house, the garden is looking absolutely spectacular. The Madam Butterfly Snapdragon is really something, really stands out beautifully.
Thank you, Michael. I wasn't going to open this year but the garden was looking great and we're all a little less afraid of covid now with 90%+ people vaccinated. I am very enamoured by that snapdragon too.
I would need a lot of new memory cards for my camera if I visited your garden. But I would have to say that I would spend the most time on that exquisite gladiolus--what a gorgeous color!
Lovely tour again Rachel. The year is going by so fast! We are currently blessed with something of an 'Indian Summer' so we get to enjoy some more time outside. I think my favorite tree in your garden is the Tetrapanax.
What a treat, Rachel!!! Always so very enjoyable. Every vídeo is different to the previous ones, always so many interesting features, no matter the time of the year. Thank you for these delightful moments, not long enough as already mentioned 🙏🤩😍
Thank you so much, Fernanda. I do try to vary the plants I show in videos but there are some that always take pride of place. Thanks for visiting with me and wishing you a great weekend.
Great to see all those butterflies in your garden, there were 7 of those orange small tortoiseshell butterflies in my garden a few days ago. I wonder what those flower spike plants at 31:41 are behind the pink gladiolus you have, they do remind me of the numerous spikes of light pink flowers I get on a type of mint I have in my garden. The aconitum climber is beautiful. I really like hydrangeas too, some of the lacecap ones are great for bees.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. The light pink flower is Persicaria affinis. I have it planted on a whole bank. It is very handy for that. Yeah, hydrangeas at this time of year are the best. Have a great day.
Hello Rachel this totally random but that beautiful cattleya King of Taiwan with purple red new growth is it a B.L.C. or a R.L.C? Thank you for your knowledge and sharing your beautiful garden with us like always.
Wetter summers usually, not this one though, so dry, right now I have not had rain since 12 August, probably won't get anything substantial until the weekend. So true about the butterflies, they are everywhere in my garden, yesterday one of them landed on my shoulder in the house, so I carefully walked outside to release it. I snapped that Himalayan Balsam on the banks of the suir recently, the foliage is very ugly, looks like a sow thistle, but the flowers are very pretty indeed. How do you cover your Dahlias for winter? I'm new to planting them and still have not made up my mind on whether to dig them up or not. I was thinking of putting a layer of woodchip, then cardboard down on that, then pile more woodchip on top.
Hello John and that you for watching and commenting on this video. It has been really dry here in Ireland this last while. Regarding your dahlias, your solution sounds good and should work. May I suggesting having a look at this video I made on choosing to lift dahlias or not. Happy growing... ruclips.net/video/XIvCx-akRlY/видео.html
What a beautiful garden Rachel. How do you keep your dahlias so beautiful and healthy? Mine were completely destroyed by something this year within a few weeks of planting. Not sure if it was slugs or some sort of fly
So sorry to hear that, Mary. The dahlias have done really well here this year, the ones that are left in the ground anyway. Could be slugs. They love dahlias. Hares and rabbits love them too.
This tour was not long enough! Follow up with another one soon!
That is actually a great compliment. I do intend making another one shortly as winter is too long ☺️

Thank you so much, Laura. I am really enjoying it at the moment. PS check my recent members post for lily bulbils!
Hi Rachel, your garden looks lovely. The sarracenia plants are very interesting. Nice that your boxwood is doing well. Your lilies are stunning.
Thanks so much! 😊

Yes, we got that Indian summer too but it seems to have gone now. It was welcome. Tetrapanax is great too! Now you make me doubt my choice!

It's Rhyncholaeliocattleya according to the RHS Orchid Register
