Those astros were very special, weren't they. I saw that the many vendors topped the pots with a black grit to show the silver off to best effect. A good trick.
Fabulous!!!! I wouldnt know which one to choose if I were allowed to bring one. Our likings change over the years and my favourite suculents are now cacti. I am in love with some caudex plants too and I still grieve for the loss of my Pachypodium lamereii, years ago. It can be easily found but I don't want a small one as replacement, I want a large one and never found one I liked. You see, as I am getting older I need mature plants to enjoy while I am still able to 😂. If I ever give up my orchid collection, cacti and caudex will be the perfect replacement. Thank you so much for taking us along, I truly enjoyed the market visit ❤❤❤❤
Ah yes, the older we get the less we want to start from scratch with those slow-growers. Chatachuk market is simply amazing and quite frustrating in many ways because you can't buy and bring home. Thanks for watching and have a great week, Fernanda.
Well, that was a fantastic tour!!! I dont know if I could go there and not buy!! Would drive me crazy!! So many fantastic plants!!! The white cactus clump you thought might be sulcorebutia is a mammillaria herrerae! A beautiful species that gets large ( for a mammillaria) pink flowers. And the little plant you daid you wanted so bad is a Ariocarpus kotchubeyanus. So many great plants!! The planting that are the great agaves are actually sansaveria varieties, I love these!!! I have a few of these thick leaved species like sansaveria " boncel starfish" and the boncel mini which stays very small. Great window sill plant!! They also take low light conditions like the flat leaved species. Those gymnocalycium are awesome!!! I have only one true variagated one that will survive on its own roots. It was sent to me by Daz and Edith of Cactimania. The solid red, or pink wont survive on their own roots. They have to have some green or purple ( black) to survive without being grafted. My plant has many colors in it including green. Thailand has a real way with those Adeniums!!! The best!!! We have four of them. Pink and red ones. Yes , that market would be a real challenge for a cactus, Euphorbia addict like me!! Best for me to see this market from afar . Deb would love all the bulbs!!! Thanks for this wonderful tour!!! Just awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Wexford, have a wonderful day!!! Peace,Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌿🌷🌳🌻🌸🪴🌹🌴🌱🌾💐🍀🏜😃👍
oh Rachel, I'm sure there is a way to get them home. But then you'd need a dedicated heated glasshouse or a grow tent.🤣 I think Desert Rose would be an interesting one for you to try growing from seed, they are really easy to germinate and grow (provided heat and light). I think they would do in your smaller glass house over winter, provided they had absolutely no water because they will rot at the drop of a hat if they are cold and wet.
Good to know about the desert rose. I must try it from seed. You may see in the next video how I found a nursery issuing cites certification so all was not lost😉
I live in Southern California and I have quite a variety of plants, in pots mostly, in the back yard. I have no luck with desert rose. No matter how much I read about the care of this plant, I just can’t get the hang of growing them. Thanks for a great video.
If i lived there, i woudnt be rich for long😅, so many plants id buy. I still cant get my head around how they can grow these plants in such a wet Place. Just a heads up at around 15:00 nost of these plants are probably taken from the wild, so i woudnt buy any of them. Ty for the video 😊.
Yes, I know where you're coming from. Thailand is a great place for plant collectors to live. And, by the way, the stephania were no doubt wild collected.
It’s so nice to see this famous market through you, if I was there I’d go nuts not being able to bring anything home…so many beauties, loved the variegated powderpuff cactus. Thank you for this, nice! 🤗🪴
Unfortunately it seems as tho most of these have been poached form the wild. You can see with the thumbnail that those are poached due to their stunted limbs but well formed caudex.
What a lovely plants 🪴
