Been listening to rap since kid in early 90s and started listening to Future during quarantine. Has been written about some, but I was shocked how deep and vulnerable & emo this trap gangster rap is & how innovative sonically. And then listening to those hypnotic songs over & over again I realized how clever lyrically he is. I think it’s kinda weird cuz Future went over most people’s heads. & in this generation, how he technically crafts songs, how he tells a deep pain-filled story in one line, how quickly he can shift through seemingly unrelated diverse subject matter while subtly flawlessly tying them together, & his understanding of sound that rivals some of the greatest R&B artists I’ve heard from decades back are all things that have me confused when I go back & watch these videos of people hearing it for the first time (cuz I didn’t until quarantine). But I think it makes sense because no one knew how influential it would be, and it can take listening to his songs over & over (like it did me) to realize the innovation & genius in it when it may have just started out sounding like slaps

I think DS2 is great it's a nice addition to his mixtape 3 peat. Future kept it homegrown as far as the sound. much better than his previous studio albums that he didn't have as much input with
