The fact that you could have sliced the first pizza and only put the banana pudding on one slice and still have 3/4 of a perfectly good pizza haunts me at night.
But that’s not what happened in the show. Gotta go for authenticity.
I feel like you could do it as a dessert pizza. A cookie base, vanilla pudding for sauce, bananas (and maybe other fruit topping), and coconut flakes for the cheese.

Big Cheese has desert pizza which is their pizza crust, vanilla pudding for the sauce and then they top it with canned pie filling, (cherries or apple) or chocolate chips. They then top it before they bake it with shortbread crumbles made from flour, butter, and sugar.
I was thinking the same thing! Except I was thinking of a sort of pastry crust. Like, maybe a pie crust, but not in a pie pan. Otherwise, that's just literally a pudding pie.
I don't think you need to replace the cheese or the base. Sweet pizzas are common where I'm from, and most pizzarias use the same pizza dough and mozzarella they'd use in a savory pizza and it's great. The only ingredient that they replace or remove is the tomato sauce.
If you don't believe me, try making a banana grilled cheese: just use bread, mozzarella, 1sliced banana and cinnamon powder
I don't like coconut. I'd rather use white sprinkles instead.

Sweden is the lawless wild west of pizza. The pizza I usually get has fries (yes, I do mean french fries), kebab and a sauce known as "kebabsauce" (a sour-creamy kind of sauce I suppose you might call it). This is the basic version of kebabpizza and I love it and I'm getting hungry just typing this so peace out! Babish could concievably make an entire episode just trying out different wierd pizzas that can be found here.

Chicken pizza with curry and pineapple is really good. I used to have an amazing chicken pizza when I used to go to Sweden, but new management removed the normal pizza dough with some cheap pre-made pizzabottom. Feelsbadman.

I worked as a short order cook and have a seafood allergy. It's far from ideal but if you're confident at cooking other food (and careful not to contaminate yourself) you can definitely make it work.

I grew up in Sweden and lived there well into adulthood and I can confirm that the banana/peanut/curry pizza is an actual thing. It is however not really a Swedish _favorite_ by any means. I have only known one person in my entire life who actually ordered this pizza regularly. Out of hundreds of people, only one. Many more have tried it at one point though, mostly as a gag and out of curiosity, but most hate it and never ever try it again. So.. just a wee bit of feedback from someone who used to live there.
The ham, cheese and pineapple pizza (called the Hawaii) is however a Swedish favorite, and is, if memory serves, the third most popular pizza in Sweden. Pineapple can be delicious on a pizza, but I rarely order it myself as I am a cheese pizza guy. Nothing but marinara and cheese.
Lived in Sweden all my life, can confirm that banana on pizza is a thing. Well known, but few people pick it as their first choice. I only know two people who I've ever seen actively choose the ham/banana/curry combo, and they're related. I have personally tried exactly half a bite before nopeing the fuck out - I don't eat Janssons frestelse, and I don't eat banana on my pizza.

Doug was one of my favorite shows growing up; I recently did a retrospective on it and had to revisit this episode, and the show honestly makes the pizza look pretty good. I always wanted to try it as a kid because cartoon food always looks superior to real food when you're a youngin'. At the end of that episode, Doug is seen dipping a banana in tomato sauce, so maybe the key is simplicity. NO PIZZA, just bananas in some sauce.

Pizza is modular. No one called this pizza napolitana or pizza romana.

I was in Stockholm this last summer and tried the banana pizza. I loved it. It wasn't the first banana pizza I'd had before - when I was in Peru, I had a banana and apple pizza up in the Andes, and it was one of the best pizzas I'd ever had.

For lunch i went to the gas station around the corner from the school after stopping by my friends car for something we probably shouldn’t have been doing and used the nachos cheese dispenser to fill up the plastic nacho tray instead of putting the chips on it. Then I also bought as much cheep beef jerky as I could and sat down out on the sidewalk with my friend to eat the best stoned food ever. Like salty beef in spicy cheese goo can’t be beat when you’re a broke high school stoner.

The green plantain would've worked. Suggestion: the unripped plantain should've been made in the equal process as mofongo or tostones for a crispy thin crust. Another option would be boiling the green plantain with a pinch of salt then adding a binder agent to boiled plantain in a mixing bowl.

I too am allergic to bananas along with apples, peaches, plums, and avocados. I also am allergic to just about all nuts except for peanuts and almonds. Oh and soy too. I was cursed. None of my family members have these allergies except for one of my cousins. It kills me!

Come on Babby!!!! Brazilians have been putting bananas on pizza since the dawn of time. But to do it right you have to replace the tomato sauce with Condenced milk, keep the cheese (although Brazilian muzzarela is less salty) ad some cinnamon & and sugar on top and BOOM! Dessert pizza!!!!

I know that episode well. I know exactly what Roger did wrong. Rather than subtract two from every ingredient, Roger should've reduced the entire recipe to three quarters.
So I had banana on pizza while in Sweden. Full topping list was tomato sauce, cheese, bacon, red onions, bananas, chicken, and curry. And it was actually just okay. The bananas were virtually nonexistent in terms of contributing to the flavor -- dry, almost powdery disks with zero flavor of their own. The rest of the pizza was about average as a pizza comes.
Did you learn you were allergic to bananas in the Rachel's Trifle video?
Seeing he couldn't even hold down a bite if it it unlikely. Guessing he just ate around them banana.
You can find out what you are allergic too as a child. Remember that test they do they poke you with 50+ needles to find out what you are allergic too at a doctors office.

@@QuicklyFast Surprisingly that is true. I remember Loved eating cereal with cold milk or Ice cream on a horrible hot day. Only to find out a few years ago I became Lactose intolerant. Even the substitutes don't bring in the same type of flavor that milk used to do.
@@SinOfDisaster I feel you man, a few years ago I swole up because of god knows what after sleeping in the same bed as my aunt's dog and was so bummed out by even a small chance of being allergic to dogs. I was legit depressed for a day because of that. Luckily that turned out not to be the case, but damn was that a scare and a half. I think I would break something if I suddenly became lactose intolerant, but hey, eat it every once in a while, it's a good trade IMO, similar really hot food.

Oh man, as a swede I god damn love the banana pizza! We have different types, a few involving ham, however my absolute favorite one is: Tomato sauce, cheese, chicken, peanuts, banana, pineapple and curry. But you need Bearnaise sauce also, the chicken + peanut + banana goes togheter with bearnaise sauce just as well as licorice goes togheter with rasberrys!

Ever since I first saw that episode of Doug, I always wanted to try it
Bacon and banana on pizza works pretty well. I thought it was a sort of standard thing. It is common enough here in South Africa.
That swedish pizza is absolutely amazing. Thing is, you dit it wrong. It's not supposed to be all fancy. It's swedish, so the pizza has to be kinda shitty. None of that real mozzarella stuff, you get the cheapest pre-grated stuff available. Points if it contains palm oil and bamboo fibres, like only the worst of the worst. Then sauce out of a tin can. I feel like most people have it with chicken instead of ham (I sure do) and then banana, peanuts and a hearty dusting of Santa Maria Yellow Curry Powder. Trust me, it's delicious. Personally, I also get it with pineapple and hot sauce.
