As an Ipswich fan a large majority of our games this season could be mentioned but that win today against Southampton (which could only be topped by a win at Norwich) is by far the best moment of the season. Regardless of where we are come the end of the season this has been the best season in the 15 seasons of being a season ticket holder that ive seen and if we do go up and go straight back down none of us will care one bit. After the horrific years under Evans, McCarthy, Lambert and the failure in league one this season has been something i never thought id see. The Reading situation reminded me of Hamburg SV last season. Two way fight with HSV and Heidenheim for the last automatic promotion spot. Hamburg won and flooded the field thinking they got promotion because Heidenheim was losing and needed a win. 93’ penalty and 99th minute winner got Heidenheim the league title, and we ended up getting battered by Stuttgart in the promotion playoff. I just remember being in pain from that.

@@JackButland-tt9zk No, that's not what I mean. Heidenheim's story is similar to Luton's, they've never played in the Bundesliga before and neither did most of their players, many people predicted them to finish last, but they defied all the odds and will be playing in the first division next season. I think it's incredible. Of course, it hurts from HSV's perspective, but Heidenheim's performances in the Bundesliga show that they deserved to get promoted and they didn't get where they are by luck despite what some people said

    • @franohmsford7548

@@zosiazaremba7479 Not similar to Luton's - Luton were a top flight side in the 80s and beginning of the 90s {82-92 - 10 straight seasons}, they just happened to be relegated the same year the old first division became the premier league.
They then fell all the way to the conference {the 5th tier} in 2009 getting stuck there for 5 seasons before working their way all the way back to the top flight - The first team in England to go from being a top flight club down to the 5th tier and return!

I think the fact that one good season is all it takes for a mediocre club to get into the richest league in the world results in all kinds of owner madness. - Hearts, Kilmarnock and St Mirren {3rd, 4th and 5th in the SPL} would struggle in the Championship.
      - Lugano, FC Zurich and Winterthur {3rd, 4th and 5th in the Swiss Super League} would struggle in the Championship.
      - Midtjylland, Brondby and FC Copenhagen {1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Danish Superliga} would be competing near the top of the Championship but they aren't better than Leicester, Leeds or Ipswich.
      - You'd have to go down to 9th in the current La Liga table to find a team that wouldn't be guaranteed to be promoted out of the Championship {Osasuna} and you have Villareal and Sevilla currently in the bottom half but that still leaves a good 40% of La Liga teams who would struggle in the Championship.
      - The current EPL has only 4 teams I feel would not be guaranteed to be fighting for the top two places in the Championship were they to suffer relegation {Luton, Burnley, Sheffield United and Forest} and even then I'd say there's a good 50/50 chance they would go straight back up.

    Ooh I’ve got one.
In 2011/12 season, Pompey were placed into administration and were deducted 10 points as a result.
The club was told that if we were to sell 2 of our high earning players at the time then we’d have enough funds to avoid being put into administration.
We didn’t sell those 2 players because our chief executive at the time (David Lampitt) made himself unavailable. When we were placed into administration, he was made redundant among 30 other members of staff. Many players and fans thought Lampitt was out of his depth.

In the end Swansea won and in that season they got promoted.

I know we (QPR) got mentioned more than once (and i consider both holloway and warnock to be indirect mentions of us lol) but a good window into some more crazy championship stuff would be to watch our documentary the four year plan. It shows some absolutely insane behind the scenes and management stuff, before the more recent trend of showing behind the scenes footage was popular via streaming series'.
I really wish that match of the day had a similar quality production for the championship, it can be difficult keeping up with the league as a whole due to the highlights programs changing hands every few years and not as many games on tv. The highlights show on quest with colin murray from a couple of years ago was probably the best one for years but unfortunately they lost the rights and i really didnt rate the replacement show.
I will be absolutely buzzing for ipswich if they manage to get promotion, and even better the idea that they could finish 1st after only just coming up to the championship is absolutely incredible 😂

The past 15 years of Leicester has that beat. Relegated to league one. Champions back to championship. Mandaric takeover, Sven Goran Eriksson, Thai takeover. Champions back to prem, the great escape, WINNING THE PREMIER LEAGUE?!?!?!, champions league quarters, a first ever FA Cup win, a helicopter crash, back to back CL bottling, relegation and this year.
      In 15 years. My heart.

I Have watched saints through up and down from Alan shearer and Matt Le Tis (two of the best prem players of all time - matt Le Tis the most talented football player of all time). I have watched us going through adminstration having got back to back relagations and being saved by Markus Liebherr and getting back to back promotions and getting to Europe (I was in at the San siro) we beat inter Milan in the group. I saw us go through a terrible season back last year and the CHAOS of the championship is the best division in English football.

To say the championship is stupid is a massive understatement, Middlesborough in 10th place can still get relegated, it's april, QPR who looked dead and buried a month ago can still get promoted, it's april, fucking april

The Championship is facinsting. Where in history the biggest clubs with biggest fan bases tended to go up that is no longer the case. The clubs with parachute payments who have already been in the Prem hold a massive advantage. You only have to look at Sunderland, She Wed and Derby to see this. Ipswich and clubs like Luton are more of a rare fairy tale. Where as sorry to tell you burnley will be the favourites for a quick return next year.

I'm an adoptive Norwich City fan from Derbyshire, with a Derby County-supporting older brother so thanks, Liam, for bringing up that car crash incident that really had his eyes rolling heavenwards. I suppose one turn back towards sanity in the Championship is that the 'Samba De Janeiro' goal-celebration jingle is back at Carrow Road, after a 'Seven Nation Army' interregnum. It appears that the Rams could well be on their way back to that 'stupid' division, so I hope, for my brother's sake, that the stupidity doesn't return if they do manage that.

Is this is reference to Burnley? If so at least they got up in the first place. As an Everton fan I'm glad they are struggling as we need 3 worse teams to survive but anyone with half a brain would realise a town the size of Burnley are very much out punching their weight by being among the top 20 currently.

Even better with the Forest v Stoke bottle job. All they needed to do was score a goal to reclaim their play off spot, which they did in the 96th minute. In their own net.

Blackburn Rovers tried to buy Duncan McGuire from Orlando City (my club) in the MLS and all three parties agreed to the transfer, but the transfer ended up failing because Blackburn didn't submit the documents in time due to an "administrative error". Sheffield Wednesday also wanted to buy or loan to buy McGuire but Blackburn apparently had the better deal, but due to Blackburn's incompetence McGuire didn't get to move to England like he wanted.
