Miss-pinned edge connector. Its a classic blunder. Asteroids Deluxe is a true classic and one of the original greats! That Marquee is super cool too! There was a Circle K in Keizer Oregon back in the day. I would ride my bike there and play some Asteroids Deluxe!
Yes, the anti-glare stuff is like with storefronts. You want your window shoppers to see your wares clearly, and seeing the glare of the city is distracting. But if they tilt them a bit, the glare is redirected out of sight.
Mirror should have rails. and a nice thing holder on bottom of mirror that holds in cabinet. I have two Ast deluxe cabinet (full games) the hardest thing is the monitor overlay (the blue tint) if you don't have that it looks like crap. You can build one with plexiglass and window tints just have to find right tint. Yes the white black light is the one your want!!!!!! :) :) Thanks for the video!! Oh and nobody is selling the backgrounds anymore. Phoneix arcade used to sell one at 175.00 but Todd from TNT bought them out!!! So good luck finding those without just buying a whole Asteroids Deluxe.
Nice job, especially on the black light difference! I'm guessing that you swapped out a 395 nm for a 365 nm, which is supposed to be better for fluorescence. Regarding the capacitors, you can definitely get equal or better from reputable brands, such as Nichicon and Panasonic. You may need to do a bit of research down to lower-level specs (ESR, ripple current, leakage, etc.) to figure out which series are worth keeping in-stock in your shop. Polymer capacitors have become huge these days (if you look at modern PC motherboards, the vast majority of electrolytic capacitors are now polymer aluminum electrolytic). Above all, even if Atari was using great quality capacitors, this is definitely a field of electronics that hasn't moved backwards.
Enjoyed seeing this. My hardware professor always got all over me for going for the complicated stuff, when it was usually a connection issue. LOL Thanks for sharing this with us. Never heard of a "whit" blacklight. I'm guessing it's just normal white, along with high UV output, too.
It's an American cab, you can tell because it has buttons not a joystick. From what I've been told, the European asteroids machines all came with a Joystick.
@@mehere3013 from what I understand, most of the ones that came to the UK were bootlegs or imports. Official ones had a stick, bootlegs copied the US design, and it was likely cheaper to use buttons.
The AD service manual doesn't distingush what type of Black Light (BLB[lue] vs. BL[White]) but BLW seems to overpower the glare off the bezel from overhead lighting IMHO.
“You know what happens when you assume” has got to be one of life’s great lessons. Thanks for the video. Another game saved by Joe.
The sound and video looked great! Thanks Joe!
Nice work Joe ! 😎
That monitor looks nice, Clean and tidy not all squished together.
5 star repair ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you !
Thanks!
I am liking this new camera
The new camera seems good so far. The focus is good and so is the sound.

For your Gopro. You can get a Jaws Flex Clamp Mount. So you can use the side walls of the cabinet to clip to.
Ha Joe. Mighty fine work. 👍bob
One of my favorite cabs! Still one to get eventually.
Great video as always! Cheers!
great job
Nice repair! Also gotta say you've become a lot more comfortable doing these on video, Joe. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!

I'm from UK and the asteroids I played had buttons, never saw one with a joystick

New camera looks like it has a fisheye lens on it. Personally not my favorite, but you do you. Not a complaint, just an opinion.
What a great game, never played it till my A1up. I know not the same, but I love my Tempest cabinet.
Monitor scan reversed .. Hmm, “game over”😊
Nice Solar Fox. Thats one you dont see EVER.

Adjusting for Covid inflation, the mirror probably costs somewhere around $20/ft²
When you play an awful game, you're supposed to enter your brother's initials for the high score.
