How to do a Fishtail Braid to the Scalp!

- So I often see people french braid the hair and then try to turn it into a fishtail braid. Many people think that you can't fishtail to the scalp, BUT you can! In this video, I show the difference in appearance between a French Braid and a Fishtail Braid.

Since I have been out of practice, my daughters grew up, I find myself needing a refresher course! My granddaughter now (finally) has hair long enough for Grammy to play with and trying to do the fancy braid work I used to do is NOT as easy as I remember! Your videos are AWESOME and SO easy to follow along with! Even my arthritic fingers can manage to make neat and PRETTY hairstyles. Millie and I say THANK YOU so very much! Even thin, short, three year old hair can look amazing.

I have only seen the fishtail style on Caucasian women and I just thought it was so super cute but it looked like it was complicated to do. I watched one video and I knew how to do it. As far as doing it to the scalp, this is the first one I’ve seen and I can’t wait to try it on my daughters hair 😻 I love cute and simple styles like this for my baby and so does she

Thank you for this! My daughter dances, so needs to have her hair tied back. All I could find for fishtail braids were the loose, decorative braids and that won’t fly in her class lol.

Hello, I have been beading my own hair for quite a while, I'm the only one in my family who has rally thick, curly hair. Everyone has stick straight hair, idk how I got this so I learned cuase no one else can do my hair. I learned from RUclips and recently discovered ur tutorials which really helped in making my hairstyles look more professional and neat. I was wondering if it's possible to braid this under instead of over like a Dutch fishtale almost and then pull on it to make it bigger and puffed out. Thank you so much!

This video was so helpful but at the bottom it had so bumps because you were pulling it up so what I find helpful is once you get to the bottom I sit down on my knees and so when I’m braiding the bottom it doesn’t make the bumps that you make when you pull it up other than that you are an amazing braided and youtuber😀😀😁😁😃😬

How do you follow the curve of the head so nicely-just experience or can you give us the science behind that measure?
+Maryann MARANO it's all in the placement of your hands. If your hands are positioned more to one side or the other, the braid naturally follows your hands. I hope that helps and makes sense!

Loved the tutorial! Nice, neat and patiently explained. Looks so easy the way you do it! I just have a tiny question, the beginning of the fish tail can be done if the person has a short straight fringe? In my picture here I have almost no fringe at all, but I usually cut it above my eyebrows or just a tiny bit below the eyebrows. Can it be done if a person has short fringe?
