Ok at min 3:52 you have a shot that is underexposed and upon shutter press the preview gets brighter when the camera autofocuses. No other cameras do this in manual mode (except Panasonic which shares this tech.also the Q3, Q2 an SL2. It is very frustrating esp if you are in AF-C as it will stay in this "proper exposure" preview mode the whole time while you are focusing. The opposite is true too if you are shooting a backlit subject, the camera will give you a underexposed preview (trying to compensate for the blown out BG). Is there a fix for this? How does anyone shoot with these cameras and not getting so distracted by this feature? My M11 does not do this BTW. Even the designer said the camera should not make you aware of the camera so you can focus on the image!
It should be WYSIWYG so we can adjust appropriately. I don’t want to be surprised in post-processing with exposure issues.
From the video, it appears that the camera may be set to Exposure Preview mode, which uses your current exposure settings to give you a preview of the final exposure you will get when you capture your image. The issue is Exposure Preview needs to be paused so the camera gets appropriate light levels from the camera for autofocus purposes. As such, if you are shooting manually, but you are using autofocus, Exposure Preview seems to turn off momentarily until focus is achieved. (Remember when using older optical viewfinders, you could not preview your exposure as you were seeing what your lens was seeing, not a processed image in an electronic viewfinder. As such, the camera continuously got the full light from the lens as cameras use the maximum aperture at all times until the shutter is depressed). I cannot state that this is an error, and I do not know if Leica will create a "fix" for this issue. However, you may wish to contact Leica directly to see if they may have more information on the above issue. If you do not want this change to occur, my recommendation would be to simply turn Exposure Preview off when shooting manually. Similar to older optical viewfinder cameras, you can use the light meter to set your exposure settings, and you should not have an issue with the camera adjusting light levels to focus your lens.

I'm convinced! I was already thinking to buy the FX3 or A7S iii, but the Leica has so much nicer shades of colors, really feels like best option without buying an ARRI

@@apmanti12 Yes, honestly I rented the SL2-S from Leica in Milano and I don't think it's the same for video like Sony for example. I bought FX3 in the end
@@ronbackal yeah, i mean for this price, it is just not worth it at all, you could get nikon z8 that does 8k raw and still have money for a high-end lens, memory and other things
Favorite new feature?….. Everything ! Leica knocks it out of the park as far as I am concerned. I ordered mine the day it was released.

Like a good ROLEX watch a LEICA SL3 is a good investment and wonderful camera to have as a family heirloom to hand down to the next generation of photographer filmmaker.
I now know what I am working towards and saving up for.✌🏻😎🇦🇺 fyi - $20k to $30k camera & a couple of lenses (AUD)
Definitely not an investment.. the right Rolex, not all, will increase value. This camera will decrease as soon as out of the shop. And loaded with electronics which is going to fail one day I doubt it will be handed down to the next generation…
Buy a good old film entirely mechanical Leica such a M3 and then your grand children will use it

Don't understand Leica 3 Years ago you said you want to stick to Photography only and where kind of arrogant in terms of Videography? How comes now you produce more Videocameras? I only see arrogance in your videos....

The SL is Leica’s answer to hybrid or video shooters. The M is for photography only (brief departure with the 240/246). I do however think Leica is feeling pressure to answer a consumer demands perhaps at the expense of keeping true to the essentials. I personally liked a lot about the SL, SL2 and SL2-S. In particular, its size, weight and minimalist design. The SL3 causes me mixed feelings. I hope I will be pleasantly surprised when I have the chance to hold it in hand. I would have been happy with an SL2/S with new sensor, processor, hybrid phase/contrast autofocus and latest battery. Although the extra dial is a nice touch.

It has the same low resolution viewfinder that was shipping in cameras less than half its price FIVE years ago. 💀 Honestly shameful from a company that's charging a premium for 'luxury' and 'quality.' But then again this is the same company which lets cheap chinese smartphones plaster their name on their camera modules.
