All the best and much respect! Your cultural and historical heritage is very much respected by many Romanians from Transylvania and Bukovina! Alles Gute!
The Transylvanian Saxons were, generally, very good people, very civilised, very well mannered, very thorough, very supportive in times of trouble, and nice or at worse neutral with other ethnic groups in Transylvania along the passing of time. The German minority in Romania generally is like that (and Germans in general are exactly like that, I know very well from my personal experience both in Romania and abroad). I know because I had good to very good experiences with Germans from Romania and abroad. Last but not least, Transylvanian Saxons also have a very good regional cuisine! Very delicious traditional dishes... almost addictive I dare say, if you're not on a moderate diet, hehe. All the best and plenty of success! Alles Gute!
There is the Alliance for Transylvanian Saxons with several chapters throughout the midwest. my mother, grandmother, great grandmother and finally my Saxon ancestor great great grandmother were members. Its cool there are others out there :)
I’m not a member because they are right wing Nazi apologists. There are even Nazis in this comment section. Over 90% of Transylvanian Saxon men who were able volunteered to join the Nazis during WW2. So um, I’m sort of conflicted in embracing this culture as my own.

This is not accurate at all. Transilvania was fully populated by romanians, and these foreign occupations wanted to bring their own population from the empire to erase the original romanian population. Romanians lived here, but many foreign people were brought here, by these conquerers, from europe. Romanians were forced out if their lands, were made slaves, with no rights, they were tortured, killed, forced to change their names. They were forced to work the fields and to pay almost all to the governing empire. They were not allowed to keep their religion, their churches were distroyed. It is unfair to watch these lies....pkease look for the truth. Romanians were in this territory for millenia. There is so much archeological proof. Pkease dovument yourselves. The history of romanians does not come from the eyes of these foreign conquerors who tried their best to distroy the locals....sad
ok first of all did you live whit the saxons or not . Because my parent s and i for a little bit did . Secondly i am not denaing that romanians lived here but the region was unpopulated there were a few viligies no cities it was underdeveloped. The hungarians brought the saxons here to evevate the region economicly and the did it very well. Just look at their viligies what imens beauties and their cities. No romanians were slaved or tortured. Rather the standard of living improved because of the new craft s and agricultural techonologies they brought. Even in the times of comunism the saxons helped the romanien s whit food and sweets my grandparent s cried when the saxon s left because they knew what would become of their vilige.
@@aeiou-18 Exactly! I lived with Saxons and Germans both in Bukovina, Transylvania, and abroad. They are very kind and they respected me a lot (and vice-versa, naturally), not like when I was in the south of the country. That looks like a very communist comment and not even well written in English. Sounds like someone from somewhere deep south or Bucharest (what is the difference, after all), of course. One who doesn't even know his native language well but he is so full of 'Romanianess' and dares to speak about a region which he can hardly write correctly in German (quite possibly in Romanian as well)! Shame! Because the Saxons are far more evolved and kinder people than the one who wrote the comment above. Communist criminals without honour or humanity! The Saxons helped Romanians without asking for anything in return... anything! With food, shelter, and many other things! There are plenty of mixed families of Romanian-German heritage who lived far better and in a far civilised manner than in Bucharest for hundreds of years in Transylvania, of course! Not to mention the fact that Transylvanian Saxons rebelled against Hungarian rulers in the past (e.g. the revolt from Rupea from the 14th century) and were always on the side of Romanians or were rather neutral to the frequent Hungarian-Romanian skirmishes. A very Swiss-based mentality which is quite productive and civilised, naturally. Honterus is just one prominent example of a Transylvanian Saxon scholar who was on the side of Romanians. Also, the first Romanian-language book was printed in Sibiu/Hermannstadt not in Teleorman or Bucharest! Read the correct history! And, yes, Romanians were there before the Saxons and the Hungarians, but I really don't like that attitude in a comment which isn't even properly written in English!
Excellent documentary about my people
