In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the song “Walk Of Life” by Dire Straits featuring Terry Williams on drums.
This is one of my fave songs from my childhood and a great example of a drummer playing for the song. Terry keeps the groove relatively simple but also throws in some tasty drum fills that become a melodic motif of the song.

Excellent Rob ,love the way you break down the songs and counting the notes really helps for someone like me who is trying to learn drum notation ..
Glad I could help you, Taylor. Thanks!
Excelente mi brother
Terry Williams was a brilliant Drummer in Dire Stratis and David Edmunds Man Rockpil and Others.
a really useful tip that going striaght to beat 2 after crashing on beat 1, found myself doing this a lot on faster songs, thanks as always rob
Thanks, Mikey!
Excellent lesson and super helpful! Do you have The Cars - Let's go drum lesson?
Thanks for the great video and the super-helpful explanations! I’m struggling sooo much to keep that quarter note Moeller at such tempo. Any tips other than tons of practice? I find sixteenth note and triplet Moeller easier than eighth note… 😅
Cheers!
Alex
Very epic
Thanks! :)
Nice tutorial
Thank you, Roberto!
Was wandering why you have your hi hat at the front of your kit? I haven't seen that much before. Thanks for doing this song, it's a good fast song to play along with.
That was the way I was self taught initially. I got it to work for me over the years though.
