    E stands for Einzelbetten which means single beds. D is Doppelbett or double bed 😊

    I think for me, the compromise to the interior living space is too great. We have a Boxdrive 600XL which is also 6m but a transverse bed at the back and it’s just about ok hab wise. Wouldn’t want to lose anymore space.
    Great review though, as always. Really love the fun you guys have whilst doing it. ☺️

      Oooo nice, the Boxdrive 600XL is a lovey van and extremely well made too. We looked at a Boxdrive 680 a few weeks ago and really did like it.

      How have you got on with your Knaus? What problems and niggles have you had or you would change?

    Nice to learn there is a cupboard you can actually open! 😉 15:22. I am always curious to know why the previous owners decide to sell on after a few 000s miles.

      An opening cupboard, novel! 🤣 - well I think sometimes people buy campers thinking it's the life for them and they don't get on with it for whatever reason. We know of a few people who bought VW Californias and did the same.

    Large Bed means large boot. If it is flexible then you cannot readily use the storage. The flexible layout is useful if you store awnings and outdoor furniture which will be out of the way when camping. Otherwise if you need lots of boot storage then a large fixed bed is ideal.

    Nice review! I own the Amundsen 540 and looking for an upgrade to a larger van. Is it possible to remove the step and wall which are blocking access to the garage?

      Good question. We didn't try doing that so I'm not sure, but I know on their other vans you can so would be worth checking with Wandahome.

    Thanks for the review. It’s a lovely van I just can’t get my head around the 4 seats / 2 berth layout. I can’t think of any regular situation where this would be useful. It’s a popular thing in the industry - useless for a family and if it’s just the two of you, whats the point of the extra travel seats?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  10 месяцев назад +1

      The only logic I can think of is (a) day trips, (b) kids/2 people sleeping in an awning or tent or (c) because the seats are there anyway for dining, why not make them travel seats as well? The only thing with (c) is how it affects the payload on paper, but then if you don't take 2 extra people with you, you get that payload back!

      @@CampervanTime I think Westfalia do a version with the passenger seats that fold down and make a small bed, also a pop top but it ups the price further. Also I would want that type of van to get away from the pop top . Perhaps a tent box installation would be the way to go…

    Thank you for the nice review. It would be good to know what kind of solar panels can fit on topn. I wish VW would sell camper vans in USA.

      Hi! It all comes down to where the roof windows/vents are as to what you can fit on the roof. Some people have fitted a roof racking system and then bolted panels to that so they can cover as much of the available roof as possible too, although there are also some long and narrow self adhesive panels that are around 100w each which would do well on it too.

    Westfalia Time? 😂 TBH we do have one eye on our post Cali time, when we need something larger and this the most interesting so far, but I hate the Fiat cockpit and those airline seats in the back on all these vans are terrible - clearly the only ones all these manufacturers have approved via the crash testing. If the interour wood was better looking (and it was not a Fiat) this would be super interesting. All the external fittings, EHU etc, all look like they were thrown on in a panic too. Agree on bed - having them create seats would be better but the storage in the back is more important to us and they would generally have this bed layout.

      Yes sorry, has been quite a bit of Westy content recently, but they are quite interesting in their own right (we think, anyway!). We do have content on the Sven Hedin that we are yet to publish which you may like.... But we are going to leave it a few weeks before posting that up.

    Love the videos and tech Will and Sarah, apologies, is it me or is Westfalia becoming a little too prevalent in your reviews now?
    I preferred your California stuff. These things are not anywhere nearly as interesting, and are all Motorhomes in my opinion. Sorry but i used to love theCali stuff

      Hi, yes we can appreciate that. In this current interim period where we don't have a van of our own, we're just trying to look at things that (we think) are interesting and the Westfalia range of vans have some differences to quite a lot of the usual layouts and styles, hence why we've had a bit of a feature on them but we have also been trying to intersperse with other content too. We have some other things in the pipeline that we are just testing out and some more shows to visit etc, so it will stay varied in the coming months.

      Whereas I don't like the rock and roll bed style vans at all but find this kind really interesting.

    How does anyone of even average height sit opposite another person in that cramped 'living room'?!

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  11 месяцев назад

      That's one of the compromises with either having a 6.0m long van with this twin single bed layout at the back - everything gets pushed forward a bit. If this was a 'D' model with the transverse bed at the back the front area is less cramped.
