- Tragedy in Singapore! Rare storm like Typhoon blows away buildings and people
Strong winds that people called a mini typhoon hit Singapore on Tuesday evening, September 17, toppling trees, snarling traffic and causing damage to a glass canopy outside UOB Plaza.
Almost the whole of Singapore received the storm's heaviest rainfall as it moved across the island.
The Sumatra Squall is a line of thunderstorms that develops over Sumatra, Indonesia, and moves over the Straits of Malacca, leading to heavy rain and strong winds in Singapore and Malaysia.

I am Singaporean and I was driving then. Thunderstorm-yes. But "Typhoon blows away buildings..." : utter rubbish!
I KNOW like no building were blown away
Oh good news! I have friends there...this was terrifying! Glad it was exaggerated here! Thanks. Glad you are ok!
@@impunitythebagpuss u believed it? The only thing that blows people away are heavy hurricanes and tornadoes.
Singaporean here. Our buildings are made of concrete. It will take much more than some strong wind to blow away our buildings. They're not made of wood you know? The only things blown down were some trees (newly planted or newly transferred trees in particular, because their roots are not as deep and firm as the old trees growing in the same location for decades), some tents and some hoardings (the barrier you see surrounding the construction sites. It's not a permanent fixture, because when the construction is finished they had to be removed and therefore hoardings are not as firmly anchored like the buildings because they are meant to be removable). Everything you mentioned that were "blown away" were things that were meant to be removable, including the trees. Even the glass panels for buildings or glass canopies are meant to be removable in case glass breaks and a new one needs to be exchanged. So there's really nothing of value nor truth in anything you said.
Thank goodness for posts like yours!
you know what's tragedy? The tragedy is the way you speak in the video. It's just an uncommon strong gust of wind
No need for that kind of slang
Excellent. Thank you.
Thanks for your update! Glad it wasn't as bad as reported here! ❤
“Blow away buildings”? I didn't know there are still attap or wooden houses in Singapore....
I can barely understand the narration
Same here I just commented the same thing
Same here.
That's why they say liars are sinners.
typical Indian reporting!
I'm a Singaporean and we do not have wooden houses
Singaporean here, our buildings were strong enough for it to not feel like anything in buildings THEYRE MADE OF CONCRETE,NONE were blown away, NO PEOPLE were blown away,EVERYTHING was okay if you stayed in an mrt or a building
WHAT NONSENSE! I AM SINGAPOREAN, BIG THUNDERSTORM YESS, BLOWN PPL N BUILDING AWAY, RUBBISH!!
Blow away buildings? Which one?? Erroneous title.. it's more like tents..

Bad pronounciation. Can`t make out what she`s saying most of the time
Exactly! What kind of accent is THAT??? Terrible English and what a disaster to allow her to do the narating!
Click bait title. Nobody got blown away and no buildings were either. People just got wet, that's all
Its Singapore. Spotted SBS Buses on the road. Its not Typhoon. Its Angin Barat and goes away in 20----60 mins or so. Survived this while fishing in Batam , Scary. There are pre-warnings. When low dark curtain clouds appaear with Cold Wind,Best run for dear life.
Some of the comments here sounds like Batam or Malaysia also have SBS/Go-Ahead SG buses and SMRT, Tampines/Xilin Road etc . Not forgetting the road signs and sheltered walkways to SG type bus stops, HDB corridors and SP digital power meters etc.. No doubt not all are from SG but most are.
The way the Makcik run is really something... Whatever it is the handbag will never be let go ... I can imagine the minute she hear the sound of the wind .. first thing she grab her handbag and run off... Hope you are safe Makcik and everybody else.. God Bless Singapore
Hard to understand the commentor😬
Honestly, I can't pick up what she is trying to say
Can you please stop talking and show the video only? What language do you speak? 😮
Seriously, this narrator's English pronunciation is so bad. I can't understand half of what she is talking...
English? I thought it was some Borneo tribal thing.
Can barely understand this newsreader. What's with the accent???
The first 2 incidents happened in Batam-Indonesia
Yes agreed!
Clickbait. Yes strong winds. Buildings blown away? No.
Please, please, please, DO NOT say or report anything whatsoever that’s bad, negative or dumb like storms in Singapore!
Singaporean people are very sensitive.
Coz so many ultra rich have parked their money here. Dye dye must narrate Singapore is good. Even a big storm didn't affect much except mooncakes have bacteria & Ecoli & gotten recalled before the storm. Two person were injured & 300 sick trees have fallen.
Damn... I missed all the excitement... but in the video, amidst the gusty winds, I notice somebody jogging n people eating away at coffee shop.
Some clips are not from Singapore
Just a suggestion, I think in cases of such typhoon like weather, emergency warning should be sent out to the public, advising the public to stay indoors. The relevant authorities or weather forecast can issue warning alarms for such extreme weathers on social media or TV. This would help prevent any mishaps during such turbulent storms.
I had experienced typhoons overseas, it was much worse but we should not take any chances. Public alarms should be set off to alert the public of such extreme storms.
I am an Indonesian helper, last time I am in Singapore ,Taiwan and now in hongkong, let's us pray more harder ,we wish Jesus know how to stop all troubles in the earth ,amien.
You know most of this video is fake right?
Lots of fake news in the medium
I saw the Merlion jumped back into the sea!!! Really!!!
Stamford Raffles walking down from the pedestal and hide in Victoria Memorial Hall.
Lol!!
If not for the subtitles, I would not understand a word from the narrator who is trying to speak with an american accent....epic fail
I don’t understand the newsreader and I had to rewind several times. Still didn’t understand her…🙄
Same with me is she from China.
@@puspamalarratnasingam8026 She's from India . . .
She's from India.
Yup. It’s inexcusable to use a non-native English speaker to narrate in English.
@@rogerfaint499this is definitely not Indian slang…someone trying very hard to sound western but failed miserably.
I can hardly understand your narrations! Yes we had strong heavy rain but no building was blown off. Our buildings are solid! Please be responsible in your reporting.
Foreign countries are the same...
_ It is hoped that there will be no accidents in Singapore
_ from 🇲🇾
Tragic in Singapore… I saw 2 trees with broken branches this morning 😢😢😢
Don’t be so sad. Just 2 old trees. Singapore has millions of trees…😅
You may wish to attend some English classes first before making another video. Sounds like someone from Indonesia.
Some of the shots like attap wooden houses and food shop at street don't belong to Singapore, please don't just share, which is not true.
What accent is she talking in? Doesn't sound like AI.
Harsh weather yes, it is happening globally. but no lives lost here in SG so where is the tragedy? Your caption only serves to clickbait.
Y’all must be so lucky.I was just meeting my friend at Pasir Ris park and this started to happen(same day as the storm).Me and my friend had to run to a shelter and one tree almost fell down!IDK how ppl were still chill cycling bro😭!?!?The rain eventually went down for a moment and we quickly ran to the mall to get new shirts! After that we went home luckily we didn’t have a fever
Oh my goodness! What intense weather! Lots of damage ...were many people lost? Hopefully it wasn't
I was in bus num 28,(Double Deck)Frm Bradell rd to Paya Lebar...abt..7plus pm...OMG....Imagine we can feel n see the real scenario....What a Proffessional Bus Driver....we even didnt feel the bus shaking....everything looks normal,n have a COOL RIDE....Thanx God we are safe....fm fallen trees n Traffic Jam....❤❤❤❤
Yes we experienced it super strong. Blasting our windows very hard to close window. Hittinf our window super hard
What language is the announcer speaking in? Couldn't make out what she's saying at all... bad... 😑
It was the same in JB. Nearly had a heart attack.
This happened, at home sleeping.
I did not feel any strong wind blowing from the windows.
Only the next day I overheard the news
Maybe at punggol, the strong wind not passby.
She sound like a spam caller
It's a normal storm for us here in summer India lol
Like it's only 59 km/h that's not that strong
But still stay safe !
It’s normal in Singapore too, I slept like a baby with my window opened; didn’t even know it’s raining. The author exaggerated to get viewership.
Thanks for the concern.
Thank You For Sharing(谢谢分享)🙏🤝😊☕
what is this trying to prove. Take care of your own country first before you fabricate this
American/British politics is a veritable clown show of hypocrisy, greed and jealousy. Hence it attracts Indian-origin players like Sunak, Vivek, Patel, Kamala etc. because it aligns very well with Indian temperament, and the best Indian talents are in their element relishing in this kind of farcical milieu in both the US and the UK, adding to the rhetorical fist and fury, raising the roof and, generally, accomplishing nothing. The ripple effect is a huge inflow of migrants from India - a more insidious erosion of the fundamental British character than the more conspicuous Muslim problem of the day.
Dimana kejadianya
fyi... this scene isn't the entirety of Singapore despite being a small country. lol. During the time that it happened, at my area, it was either drizzling (or not, didn't noticed as i was indoors), but there was a huge gust of wind that lasted for quite a while. When the news broke, i realized it was during the time that i felt the huge gust of wind.
The scenes depicted here was nothing like what i had encountered. Fortunately :x
My area only slight drizzle, no wind at all. lol
Ok..thx.. utk'infonya
I hve experienced this gust wind when i stay in kampong
But it never up rooted our houses.
Are you sure it's Singapore. Didnt see anything reported in Straits Times. Strange, people speaking in Malay.
Out buildings are so foundational strong. Never hear of broken window panes. Maybe if twice the intensity…….
The moving buses shown in the videos are not in Singapore as they travel in the opposite direction
Up - rooting trees 》YES
Blew away buildings.》 FAKE
Please do not sensationalise and exaggerate in the video title. Yes, some trees fell. But that is expected as Singapore grows more and more trees each year.
*This time of the year the seasonal Sumatran Wind is always strong but this one is exceptionally very strong.*
Why so many outside ? Is there warnings? Evacuations?
It was just very strong winds that blew away tents which were set up for Formula 1 carnival for the weekend and not the buildings.
Why are you trying to make it sound so terrible. That it is a disaster. Not so. Yes, Singapore did experience such havoc, but it is small compared to many countries . We thank God for always protecting Singapore from every air, sea n under sea disaster.
Its a Thunderstorms
Dang I gave in to the clickbait, knowing it was clickbait 😂 and commenting knowing I’m just driving the algorithm lol. While this “tragedy” was going on and people were being blown away, I was having a peaceful dinner at home not far from these places. Exactly which buildings fell and which people were blown away please?
Really that big of a deal? My end like nothing happen, some trees got blown around, someone’s essay got blown out of the window, I got my clothes wet that’s about it
Itu batam
Nope
This video is definitely over exaggerated. Some of the clips shown are not from Spore. What message are you trying to convey????
Airdome pun tak sanggup menangkal nya , itulah alam kadang" dia bersahabat dgn kita kadang" dia marah kpd kita yg hanya hidup sebentar didunia ini kita hanya bisa pasrah kpd Allah swt ❤
Шунда хам електр учмай турибди. Офарин
That's rubbish....report this video.....
Our bangla workers will keep the area clean again & the next day and everything is good again.
Thks alot for the comments in the thread. Yes. I do agree. Besides her foreign accent is too strong. Hard to understand. I was out for dinner. Its strong winds, heavy rain, flimsy boards collapsed. Im shocked when she mention buildings uprooted. So, its not true when I read the comments in the thread. Please be careful when you report dear reporter about our country Singapore. Report the truth.
We stay bukid timah suddenly rain wind heavy
Omg I went through that without realising 😮
No wonder it was heavily raining at Aljuned yesterday, I even saw a man fell down with his items being carried.
I don't see any connection between the commentary and your video.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
No matter how talented human can innovate technologies thinking they can beat nature with their latest so-called AI in the end the world today are much chaotic then ever.
😂😂😂
Are they real or fake videos. I thought fake software engineers are only in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It seems like fake is everywhere?
Real. Most of the videos are within SG.
American/British politics is a veritable clown show of hypocrisy, greed and jealousy. Seriously the world are changing. Countries that don't experience calamities before are now having it.
Awake and see the power of God ... 👏👏🤨
Natural not God.
when the nature show their power.. so don't so arrogant with what you had
What arrogant?
what talking u?
Malay said... Siapa makan cili dia terasa pedas.
im not saying it you but some of...!!?
@@ammarpinem8706
You sound bitter and very jealous of what you don’t have …but you have many massive floods too in Malaysia 😂
@@bell-xk5dd that what I said before.. Don't be arrogant.. We know Singapore as a modern country BUT when Mother Nature show up nothing you can do.. Right
As a SGrean myself, why the comments so defensive? Maybe not all the videos are SG but clearly most of them are. Yall damn fragile ego leh bad weather also must mean someone is insulting the country? That's pathetic. And fyi, objectively the Singaporean Chinglish accent is even less neutral/more painful to hear (but it's still beloved to us lah) than some Malay/Indo/wtv accent so yall are in absolutely no position to be insulting other ppl's accents tolong
@@sfmaslfkaslChinglish, Singlish, whatever you want to call it. The problem is not with the accent. The problem is, when people cannot understand you, there is NO communication.
This channel itself is not local because it is from the UK. Thus the accent is different.
@@patricialim2531 ya I agree the narration is a bit nonsensical but I see many comments about the accent as well. And above all I simply cannot understand the fragile ego of SGreans to think bad weather = country bad 😂 It's called living on earth, there's bad weather everywhere, and even SG's most severe bad weather (pictured in these videos) are tame compared to many other countries'
@@Zayn-jc4zt Little UK in SEA is it? Try again 🤣🤣🤣
Batam juga kena.
I don't even understand what are being said? Is it human or AI?
thank god for the subtitles
Je connai bien Singapour ces images sont purement des montages
No slang please...
This is click bait for the title blow away building and people
I'm sure that this country was forewarned about the approach. Why would you be caught outside..if you knew it was approaching? Why put yourself or your car in this situation? AM I missing something? Are people just dim or is there something about danger that fascinates people? Hope everyone is safe!!
When i arrived at my school all the physical education equipment... scattered everywhere...😢
Can’t understand Accent

Jeremiah 23:19 See the storm of the LORD will burst out in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down on the heads of the wicked. Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon🙏🏼❤️🕊Repent, believe in the Gospel, Be Born Again
Just like looking at cloud formation. Different people visualize different thing. Once a Christian friend ask who make all these pointing his hand at the sky. I ask who, he replied God. Others around look at him trying very hard not to laugh.
This is caused by the change in air pressure and is part of seasonal weather patterns. Why are you imagining like some invisible hand moving the elements of nature on what this is Scientific explanation of this?
Such heavy storm
I was in Singapore then the storm came out of nowhere
Strong wind only lah. We don’t have typhoon in Singapore. Don’t anyhow smoke your way to get views
