  • Tragedy in Singapore! Rare storm like Typhoon blows away buildings and people
Strong winds that people called a mini typhoon hit Singapore on Tuesday evening, September 17, toppling trees, snarling traffic and causing damage to a glass canopy outside UOB Plaza.
Almost the whole of Singapore received the storm's heaviest rainfall as it moved across the island.
The Sumatra Squall is a line of thunderstorms that develops over Sumatra, Indonesia, and moves over the Straits of Malacca, leading to heavy rain and strong winds in Singapore and Malaysia.

Singaporean here. Our buildings are made of concrete. It will take much more than some strong wind to blow away our buildings. They're not made of wood you know? The only things blown down were some trees (newly planted or newly transferred trees in particular, because their roots are not as deep and firm as the old trees growing in the same location for decades), some tents and some hoardings (the barrier you see surrounding the construction sites. It's not a permanent fixture, because when the construction is finished they had to be removed and therefore hoardings are not as firmly anchored like the buildings because they are meant to be removable). Everything you mentioned that were "blown away" were things that were meant to be removable, including the trees. Even the glass panels for buildings or glass canopies are meant to be removable in case glass breaks and a new one needs to be exchanged. So there's really nothing of value nor truth in anything you said.

Just a suggestion, I think in cases of such typhoon like weather, emergency warning should be sent out to the public, advising the public to stay indoors. The relevant authorities or weather forecast can issue warning alarms for such extreme weathers on social media or TV. This would help prevent any mishaps during such turbulent storms.

American/British politics is a veritable clown show of hypocrisy, greed and jealousy. Hence it attracts Indian-origin players like Sunak, Vivek, Patel, Kamala etc. because it aligns very well with Indian temperament, and the best Indian talents are in their element relishing in this kind of farcical milieu in both the US and the UK, adding to the rhetorical fist and fury, raising the roof and, generally, accomplishing nothing. The ripple effect is a huge inflow of migrants from India - a more insidious erosion of the fundamental British character than the more conspicuous Muslim problem of the day.

I'm sure that this country was forewarned about the approach. Why would you be caught outside..if you knew it was approaching? Why put yourself or your car in this situation? AM I missing something? Are people just dim or is there something about danger that fascinates people? Hope everyone is safe!!

Just like looking at cloud formation. Different people visualize different thing. Once a Christian friend ask who make all these pointing his hand at the sky. I ask who, he replied God. Others around look at him trying very hard not to laugh.
