There's no way RUclips going to keep me away from this channel.
That is very nice of you to say :-)
I’m here early because PatmanQC is the best!
Thank you my friend, kudos :-)
That kid in the Tiger Electronics ad sure did spin around a lot. Just like Superman did in his Genesis game, when prompted by the "Spin Here" sign. Lots of spinning in your recent videos.
LOL, I never thought of that
You missed the fact that Team Ninja included the dragon ninja outfit and sword in the game Nioh as well as a secret boss fight with Ryu's ancient ancestor who was the dragon ninja of the era.
Big fan of the Ninja Gaiden series. I played the SNES and XBOX games. Good stuff
Really hard (yet satisfying)
I love the jog down memory lane. I don't game anymore but I'm interested in booting up my xbox360 just to play Ninja Gaiden II, which I still have lol
Those games are classics, especially the originals. Thank you
Love your videos sir. Please keep up the good work!
Glad you like them! Thank you very much
Very informative video. You left one cameo out though. The series, Nioh, also by Team Ninja, has a secret fight where you fight an ancestor of Ryu, Jin Hayabusa. Donning the same blue dragon ninja attire as Ryu, he is extremely formidable, and has near the same skills as his Xbox incarnation. Defeating him nets you his weapons and costume, and a chance at 2 special skill drops that allow you to learn the Art of the Inferno ninpo, and his famous Izuna Drop technique. Have a great day!
Thanks for the info
Jin also likes to completely ignore the Ki system of Nioh...
Honestly u one of my favorite youtubers always entertaining and u seem like a guenually good person keep it up
I appreciate that, That is very high praise indeed. Thank you so much
perfect video man. I loved it. Now I hope we get a had remake of the sima series on PS5 one day. It will ever happen but a man can dream
Thank you, keep your fingers crossed it might happen
checked and still subscribed. :)
Thank you
Fun Channel for sure
Thank you :-)
I was told by someone who speaks Japanese that Ryu is pronounced similar to "roo" like kangaroo.
Still subscribed!
Thank you
I am subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Actually, the R is silent, in Japan.
Wish Shinobi got a proper reboot
So do I
Ree-u ree-u ree-u
At least now I know how to say it
Screw that bullshit! I pronounce Ryu with an "I" to, don't let him push you around!👍✌
LOL, thank you
"I've heard better tunes coming out of the bathroom on taco Tuesday..." CLASSIC!
LOL, thanks :-)
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries
That was a good one mate 👌🤣
I was at a forces reunion evening a few years ago, and one of the lads told the female lead singer of the band hired to entertain us, that... "having his eardrums shattered by a roadside bomb in Basra was more soothing than her voice"... I choked on my beer, and she slapped him in the kisser!
I wanted to get a cheeky Simpson's reference in and say "you can't hit Lenny, he's a war hero!!" But I whimped out once I sore the angry red mark left on my buddy's cheek lol
Thank you, that's pretty hilarious. I think I would've backed off as well LOL
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Milo Bradley I watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
You think it's bad how he pronounced Ryu? Back in my day, we called it Ninja GAY-DEN.
You know, I vaguely recall that growing up
I'm ashamed to say I called it Ninja Garden.
I still do!
We most certainly did, lol
I used to hang out at that place on a Saturday night.
Great vibe and good people... You always entered via the back door though?
Still subbed...
Ya'll want to see awesome Ninja Gaiden play just lookup Arcus
Thank you
That's a good clonk
Even though the games are so different (NES, arcade, Xbox/PS3) in design... they all have that "way too damn hard" factor.
LOL, yes they do
I've seen every single video you've posted , I can't get enough ! Your a truly amazing guy 🤜🤛 keep up the great content
Wow, thanks! I appreciate the nice words
@PatmanQC - History of arcade game documentaries should do,retrospective on,onimusha
Hmmm my Japanese friends pronounce it as "yu" the R is almost silent. Its never been Ree you. Thats the american way.
@The Deadpool Who Chuckles. so you have some that dont care. Doesn't mean im wrong.
When I was looking it up I saw three or four different pronunciations for it
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries well in reality it doesnt matter despite my opinion. The true Japanese way is "yu" from what ive been told. But the name is so colloquial that even capcom has accepted Reeyou to the point of it being said in game. So from what i understand both is can be accepted for just that character.
@@ronincustomz True your right its doesnt matter, ive lived in japan for couple year when i was there, the r is said its not a hard r its soft n quick thats why it sounds slient its not dragged n emphisize like in american english
In Japanese you sort of emphasize the center of a word, so Tokyo sounds like "Toe-Kyo"
Ninja Gaiden II for 360 is a classic. That game is super badass
It was really good
"If these the kinda girls that are attractive to ninjas; I'm going to start training to be a martial artist as soon I'm done with this video." That's a good one. After, watching the Tiger Electronic commercial. A though just came to mind. There is also a Ninja Gaiden commercial for the NES. Yes, I check the subscription tab and it is fine.
Thank you very much
Roo like the end of the word kangaroo is close enough. Plug this in and it will help リュウ・ハヤブサ. I have a friend with this name and he goes by your pronunciation in the states. This is because the Japanese is difficult for most non-speakers to say. I love your channel, and I love your videos.
I saw that pronunciation but just went with the typical way of seeing it that a lot of people in the comments were suggesting
I am subscribed but I didn't hit the bell. I guess the best explanation is it's RUclips, of course it doesn't work. The Vimeo, DailyMotion, and BitChute don't have the popularity, free usage of an account, or friendly interface.
Good to know!
The team "Jiggle"s leader Tomonobu Itagaki is also famous for being a womanizer, having been once sued for sexual harassment from a female coworker, which he was later received not guilty sentence.
After seeing the way he sexualize women I am not surprised. Thanks for the info
lot of misinformation or omissions in this video lol
-no mention of mission mode in ninja gaiden black, you said it was introduced in sigma.
-most of the dlc from the 2004 is there, minus the mechanic intercept, a parry based move that allowed for you to act instantly out of it into any attack. no mention of that here
-don't know what you mean by customize ryu's outfit since it's only costumes in sigma. accessories were added in sigma plus is the closest thing to customizing his appearence and they give him different effects like more damage+less health, more healing from blue essence etc
-hero mode is nothing like ninja dog, hero mode takes away control, making you automatically block attacks, do combos for you and greatly increases damage of ninpo. ninja dog you still are playing the game with full control.
-no mention of mission mode for ninja gaiden 2, which you had to pay for unlike previous games, same with different costumes that weren't just recolors.
-ninja gaiden 3 didn't give you new weapons at all, you just had the basic katana. only new weapons where the scythe and claws, which were dlc, they were free only for the main campaign, you had to pay for them for ninja trials which all came later after the game came out
-ninja gaiden 3 razor's edge only has 3 other playable characters, not 4 and all the "new" weapons and ninpo were lifted from ninja gaiden 2, retrofitted to play in the ninja gaiden 3 combat system
-ryu has been in DOA since DOA1, which came out in 1997, 7 years prior to the 2004 reboot.
I thoroughly enjoy how you respond to criticism with a sarcastic and metaphorical middle finger.
LOL,Thank you :-)
Sorry but NG3:Razor's Edge is a bullshit move by Tecmo. They stripped down the regular NG3 and gave Nintendo a version of the game that should've been made in the first place on the X360/PS3.Fuck Tecmo.
I hated the camera angles also
It's a good thing they fixed it
Remember if you beat momji's initial seemingly hopeless boss fight you unlock a brand new campaign with her!
Thanks for the info
So pleased to come home to this video tonight after a brutally warm day outside.
It was extremely hot here today too, thanks for watching
Still Sub'd and still loving the videos! They have given me comfort through the Covid epidemic and my wife leaving at the same time! Thank you so much!
That's rough, I'm kind of in the same boat as you are. Keep your chin up as tomorrow is always a new day. Thanks for the nice words
I wanna be a ninja master too! Would be an improvement over the girls I attract lol
LOL
Dragon Sword was such a guilty pleasure :>
The correct pronunciation is: "Ree-Yowza this is too damn hard!"
LOL!
I'm a pure Ninja Gaiden fan and i finally found this second video of yours - awesome 👍.
Fantastic, thank you
Potato ≈ Tomato
Ryu ≈Ryu
Who cares. It be like that.
Thank you :-)
I still prefer the first ninja gaiden on the nes over everything that came after it
So do I
I miss those days, back when Chad producer Itagaki was making Chad ultra-violent and ultra-sexy games. They've gone down hill without him, NG hasn't had a new game since 2014 Yaiba, and DOA6 got such a low player count for a fighting game that it's barely getting any updates anymore.
At least we got Razor's Edge on XB360 & PS3, without Itagaki. It was a really polished game that fixed practically everything bad in NG3 vanilla. The dlc gouging was pretty bad in NG3 vanilla, too. Custom Ninjas, no censorship & a rich co-op mode were some serious icing + that fine-tuned gameplay with EVERY weapon. Only real downer was that much of the best customization equipment was locked behind that 3 player arena mode.
NG3/RE should have reached NG2 level sales and popularity. They had all the hype of NG2 going in, but blew it on release day because it wasn't RE on release. Difference is NG2 was made by a Chad game developer who was trying to push boundaries of everything he can get away with from violence and sexy women to limitations of Xbox 360. NG3 was made by a Virgin game developer who follows rating board rules and doesn't try to push anything, only doing the minimal.
Itagaki is a crackpot, evidently you haven't played Devils Turd.
Team Ninja may have shit out Yaiba from the bowels of their offices, but at least they apologized with Nioh 1 and 2.
DoA though? They need itagaki
Dude, I just checked and I'm unsubscribed. I KNOW I was subbed to you. WTF, RUclips. No wonder I didn't get notification of these. Well, resubbed! (SMH)
Awesome, thank you for checking and re-subscribing
We need a next gen version. COMPLETE WITH JIGGLE PHYSICS!
LOL!
*PatmanQC* thanks for posting this video. I fondly remember playing the original Ninja Gaiden in the arcade. It was certainly challenging but oddly addictive at the same time. As per your PSA at the start of this video, I noticed I'm still subscribed to your channel and the notification bell is turned on. Since you took the time to correctly pronounce Ryu, I went ahead and gave this video a 'Like' as well. All jokes aside, I truly enjoy your content. Your videos are not only educational for nerdy gamers like myself, but you manage to turn up the nostalgia factor to 11! 😂😂
Thank you very much for the kind words
I'm still subscribed and it better stay that way dagnabbit.
LOL, thanks for checking
Darn RUclips unsubed me 😡 took care of that nonsense.
Thanks for checking
By default the 3D games are an improvement over the NES ones because you don't get knocked back every five blo*dy seconds! 😆
Was just about to hit the bed and I see your video was uploaded. It was definitely worth staying up for. Great video as always. :)
Awesome! Thank you! That's very nice of you to say
When I first saw the PC-Engine version years ago, I was surprised that it was the same as the NES but with an entirely different soundtrack, except for the Stage Intro. It also goes by the full Japanese title of, "Ninja Ryukenden."
It's too bad it was not released over here in the states because it was pretty good. Not quite as polished as the NES version
I'd like to have seen Hudson take shots at finishing the NES trilogy on PC Engine/TG16. NG2 Dark Sword of Chaos is my favorite.
What kind of sick, son of a!! What button was that for the shaking, I mean secret ninjitsu shaking art again?? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
*I watched Part 1 and Part 2 of The History of Ninja Gaiden videos you made . I love both of the videos. Can you do a Bonus Video called " What we want to see in Ninja Gaiden 4 for PS5 ?*
Yea I'm still subscribed 👍🏻👍🏾
Thank you
You forgot to mention that you could unlock the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden on Ninja Gaiden Black!
This is good, this was the 1st Ryu of the gaming world then way before Ryu of Street fighter .
You forgot about Jin Hyabusa’s in Nioh and Ren Hyabusa in Nioh 2 :)
I love your tongue in cheek style
Thank you
Rye-Yoo is one of my favorite characters.
Mine as well
If you want to pronounce Ryu properly, it's one just one syllable, not two. Just one sound.
Ryu in Japanese not only sounds like one syllable but the R has a trill so depending on the accent it can sound like Dyu
I use to own the Tiger Ninja Gaiden game. It was a great little game, lol!
Never owned that one, but I did own Batman and bowling
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries i got to play the batman one through a friend from school! Good little game too
Great video. I'm a big fan of Team Jiggle..I mean Team Ninja
I always check my subscription status on your channel. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and always look forward to the next. Hope you're well and thank you again!
Awesome! Thank you! I appreciate the nice words
top stuff
Thank you very much
beating ninja gaiden on the nes was the greatest day of my life. my wife may disagree....
I'd love to see how the Hayabusa clan/ village schools and trains their children. "Ninja Gaiden: Children Of The Hayabusa Clan/ Village", a game where were see Ryu, Rachel and others like Ayane as kids in martial arts training with a Naruto manga art style to the character designs.
That sounds pretty cool actually
1:15 nope, not the right pronunciation (I have a degree in Japanese language)
I hear RUclips unsubscribes people that haven't logged in 6 months. Then when they log in again, they're resubscribed. Or so I hear as of maybe 5 years ago.
Okay thanks for the info
Aw yeah Ninja Gaiden 2 on Xbox 360 is still my favourite game of all time, I'll have to watch this alter, was in recommend.
Great, thank you very much
2:19 oh I see the Tree Sentinel came a long way from Limgrave
Ninja Gaiden on XBOX looks to be a Devil May Cry clone.
God, that jittery background on the TG-16 OG Ninja Gaiden port is so jarring. They should've programmed in proper parallax shift.
I agree, it could have been done much better
REE- YUU it's still badly pronuounced, closer... But still very bad. In one breath, just say ryu and extend the U, The same way you pronounce Liu Kang's name, just replace the L with a soft R and extend the final U
Okay I'll make another video where I learn the pronunciation. Thank you
I'm never walking pass this gentleman's house on Tuesdays. Depending on wind conditions, I'll wait until late Wednesday afternoon to be in the area. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
LOL good call
I remember as a kid renting the original Ninja Gaiden for the NES from the local video store. They had it listed as "Ninja THE Gaiden", because they thought the Kanji for Gaiden on the cover was just supposed to be the word "the" in English. I... can kinda almost see it I guess?
I can see that, I need to rent almost all of my games as well because they were so expensive
I have subscribed, my friend. I have been watching for awhile and making comments and just realized I had not yet subscribed. My apologies. Still looking forward to a video on Gauntlet games.
Thank you very much, it's funny you should mention gauntlet…… ;-)
Forgot you were doing a part 2 to this!. - If there's one thing you can guarantee it' s that all videogame characters will end up in a golf game at some point.
LOL
The NES trilogy is where it's at and I still like getting my butt kicked by it. I wasn't aware of Ryu in the Die nasty Warriors series though I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that Koei and Tecmo are one now, I'll have to check that out, thanks😁👍
Absolutely, thank you for watching
Regretting my comment on the other Video 😱🤦♂️
i know you can do it
Thank you :-)
Thank you for the video game history of ninja gaiden. 😀👍🎮
Absolutely, thanks for watching
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries your welcome. 😀👍🎮
The 3D ninja gaiden games are where it's at! Though I've only played the ps3 versions.
There are quite a few in the series that I really enjoyed
Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorite series even tho I only got to play the nes version a couple of times as a kid I was hooked. I got to play the Xbox version a lot more later at a friends house but had no idea of the unlocks. So I learned something new today, thanks. I’m now playing the 360 & pc engine version & they are difficult as usual but a lot fun. Great video.
I've always enjoyed it as well. Thanks , glad you enjoyed it
awesome some RYU and Herb Alperts Spanish Flea!! That Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox looks like an Onimusha knock-off
LOL, glad you enjoyed it :-)
I beat Ninja Gaiden Black on normal on Xbox. I don't remember much about the game other than the feelings of frustration I had. One of the most difficult games I ever played.
LOL, it was pretty hard
Those later Ninja Gaiden games were extremely difficult I can't tell you how many times I cursed playing those games but I passed them all and there is no greater feeling then passing a game that's very difficult like Ninja Gaiden.
Absolutely, it was a great sense of accomplishment when you did it
rw:my fav kind of Ninja ^_^
RUclips has been pulling my sub from others but it hasn't happened to you yet will say something if I notice(edit) wow that og Xbox game looks bad ass I wonder if my toaster can emulate xbox
Okay thanks
Still subscribed! Thankfully
Thanks for checking
The return of NAViGaTR
Been a while since I've seen your vids Pat! How are you? Great 2-parter btw!
Thanks buddy. How have you been?
I was intdrouce in ninja Gaiden 2 on ps3 and dragon sword
Oh, wow. I forgot all about the Tiger wristwatch version. Now that I've seen it on here again, I now remember a kid in 1st grade had it and showed it to me back then. Thanks for the reminder!
Absolutely, glad I could help :-)
That intro logo always makes me think I’m about to watch a Popeye cartoon!!!! Love it man!
That was the plan, I used to have an ending that was similar to that as well thanks
Seeing the footage from the Xbox games, the Nioh franchise seems to be a spiritual successor.
I have heard that it was
You should have started from old and give background of how the game came to be and work your way up to the latest version. Video seemed rushed for 21 minutes long and not much to learn.
I did start with the very first one and worked my way up. You do realize this is part two correct?
After the pronunciation lesson in the beginning I was hoping you'd revert back to your original pronunciation the first time you said the name.
LOL, throughout the video well recording the second one I did revert back to the original way of saying by accident. If I would have done that people would've lost their minds :-)
Lynx version looks pretty good??? My ass. It looks like a pile of pixelated mess (with slight less colors).
It looks pixilated on a regular monitor, if you play it on a regular Lynx is not quite as bad
I remember playing ninja gaiden black when I brought my 1st Xbox good times
I love that game as well
Still subscribed.. Very much still love your content. Thank you, Bruv.
I appreciate that!Thank you for the nice words thank you for checking
I love your videos they're very educational especially to those that never grew up in the '80s I love video games always and forever
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed the videos
