Truth About Death When a man dies, what becomes of him? We know something of life and what it is and means. But what in the world happens to us when we die? Where do we go? Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? Limbo? What awaits us in the shadows ahead? What about our dead loved ones? Since we know that the Bible is the word of God should not we turn to the dependable source of information? How is the process God used in creating a soul reversed when we die? A. When God's breath is taken away: they die and return to dust. How does the Bible define life? A. Breath of God As long as my breath is in me, And the breath of God in my nostrils, (Job 27:3 NKJV) 14.) What happens when the breath returns to God? A. He dies or returns to dust But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he? As water disappears from the sea, And a river becomes parched and dries up, So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep. (Job 14:10-12 NKJV) Note: God did not put a living soul into Adam. Adam became a living soul as a result of the combination of the body plus the breath or spirit from God. When a lightbulb is connected to electricity, we get light. No one puts the light in the bulb. It is the result of the uniting those two components. When we take away the electricity, the light ceases to exist. According to the Bible, the soul is a combination of body plus breath, or spirit. When the breath (life force) or Spirit of God departs from the body, the soul ceases to exist. DUST + BREATH = SOUL SOUL - BREATH = DUST 15.) How much does man know during the time that he is dead? A. Nothing For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. No The dead do not praise the LORD, Nor any who go down into silence. (Psalms 115:17 NKJV) 17.) Can a dead person return to his house as a departed spirit or ghost? A. No As the cloud disappears and vanishes away, So he who goes down to the grave does not come up. He shall never return to his house, Nor shall his place know him anymore. (Job 7:9-10 NKJV) Note: Many demons can produce miracles not least of which is impersonating dead loved ones. The story is told of an evangelist who preached on the state of death. Afterwards one of the people in the audience had an appearing of their wife who had died earlier. She had the same voice and mannerisms of his wife. Convinced of this Bible teaching, he told his wife to leave in the name of Jesus Christ and she disappeared and turned into a demon. There is truth only in God's word!! CONCLUSION: So when a man dies he does not live somewhere else. He is not in heaven, not in hell, not in purgatory. He is not alive at all, anywhere, in any condition. He is in the state of sleep or unconsciousness. The dead rest quietly in their graves until Jesus comes. And when we stop to think it through, how could this be improved upon? As always, God has arranged what is best. Instead of permitting the departed one to look down from heaven and see the distress and grief his departing has caused; instead of allowing a departed husband or wife to see his spouse quickly transfer his love to another; instead of permitting parents to witness their children suffering through problems, Jesus has arranged death to be a short period of unconsciousness. There is no hardship in the departed one, for they are not conscious of passing time. They fall asleep and the next moment (so it seems) they awake and are reunited with their loved ones and Jesus.
Who are the souls under the alter in Revelation prior to the resurrection ? He prepares a place in Heaven for the souls of those bodies asleep waiting for the resurrection. Soul sleep is a false doctrine of the SDA church and similar to purgatory of the Catholics. Paul told us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. During the time I was reported to be dead, I, that is "LIFE My Real Self", felt very much alive, but not in this universe, nor did I have a human body or any other type of body. You didn't die. When you die you will have a more in depth contact with the heavens. You'll travel further out and meet celestial beings. Your spirit was out but not your soul. Wrong. No one goes to heaven. The unredeemed will go to the Lake of Fire when Jesus returns to establish his kingdom on earth. But the lake of fire is not eternal torment. Read Edward Fudge's book: "The Fire That Consumes". The redeemed will live forever on the "New Earth" after God, the Father, makes it "new" again as it was in the original creation.

Nothing happens when you die. Once you're dead you are awaiting Jesus' return and the resurrection. That "breath of life" returns to God, the Father, at death. But it's not a "soul" that carries off your conscious mind. When you die, it's over for you until the resurrection.
I think when we die we stay dead, no one goes to heaven yet till the coming of Christ when the dead in Christ will be raised up first at the last days and will then ascend with Jesus.

The sole purpose of this life is to love God and love your neighbor as yourself. True, if we love God and love our neighbors as ourselves we will obey His commandments. Thankfully we aren't saved by loving God but rather because He first loved us and gave Himself for us. Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation. Jesus paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past,present,and future). That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation. When you have believed on Christ alone for salvation then you have repented unto life! Salvation is absolutely free recieved solely by trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone, and is certainly not conditional upon service to God. Service ( discipleship)if you choose it can cost you everything if you go all out in serving God. Our good works, repenting of sins, and obedience, are solely for rewards in Heaven or a lack thereof and have absolutely nothing to do with salvation at all. The only reason anyone will ever be in Heaven is solely by the perfect life, shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection, of Jesus Christ alone. Anything added or subtracted from this is another gospel.
If your soul goes to heaven a minute after you die ...why did lazarus not speak about heaven when he was resurrected? And would it have been fair for Jesus to take Lazarus out of heaven and make him live again on the earth ?

Humans are purely corporeal creatures that exist only within a living human body. They have no "soul" that can depart and go somewhere after death. You mean the thief on the cross? Jesus never said what you stated above. Jesus said "I'm telling you today, you will be with me". Notice the comma. Jesus did not mean the thief would be "with him THAT DAY". How could he? Jesus went to the tomb for three days after he died. Was the thief in the tomb when Mary found him Jesus there?

He went to the tomb for three days as he had explained in Matthew 12:40 "so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." He was resurrected on the third day. Was the thief with him in the tomb when Mary found him there? There is no mention of the thief. Jesus probably went to heaven briefly after his resurrection to perform his high priestly ministry as when he spoke to his mother Mary and told her not to touch him because he had not yet ascended to the Father. But then soon returned and didn't go to heaven for forty more days. Jesus did not mean the thief would be "with him >today

Truth About Death
When a man dies, what becomes of him? We know something of life and what it is and means. But what in the world happens to us when we die? Where do we go? Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? Limbo? What awaits us in the shadows ahead? What about our dead loved ones? Since we know that the Bible is the word of God should not we turn to the dependable source of information?
The Bible's teaching on death is consistent, not confusing. There may be some surprises. But it's answers are reasonable, satisfying and best of all, comforting.
1.) How did Jesus referred to death?
A. Sleep
These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.” Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.” However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep. Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead." (John 11:11-14 NKJV)
2.) How does the Old Testament refer to death?
A. Sleep
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of meeting, that I may inaugurate him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting. Note: The Bible describes death as a sleep over 50 times. In order to understand the condition of death or sleep/rest we must first understand the condition of life.

A. Dust and God's breath of life
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7 NKJV)

A. He dies or returns to dust

Note: God did not put a living soul into Adam. Adam became a living soul as a result of the combination of the body plus the breath or spirit from God. When a lightbulb is connected to electricity, we get light. No one puts the light in the bulb. It is the result of the uniting those two components. When we take away the electricity, the light ceases to exist. According to the Bible, the soul is a combination of body plus breath, or spirit. When the breath (life force) or Spirit of God departs from the body, the soul ceases to exist.

15.) How much does man know during the time that he is dead?

Note: Many demons can produce miracles not least of which is impersonating dead loved ones. The story is told of an evangelist who preached on the state of death. Afterwards one of the people in the audience had an appearing of their wife who had died earlier. She had the same voice and mannerisms of his wife. Convinced of this Bible teaching, he told his wife to leave in the name of Jesus Christ and she disappeared and turned into a demon. There is truth only in God's word!!
CONCLUSION: So when a man dies he does not live somewhere else. He is not in heaven, not in hell, not in purgatory. He is not alive at all, anywhere, in any condition. He is in the state of sleep or unconsciousness. The dead rest quietly in their graves until Jesus comes. And when we stop to think it through, how could this be improved upon? As always, God has arranged what is best. Instead of permitting the departed one to look down from heaven and see the distress and grief his departing has caused; instead of allowing a departed husband or wife to see his spouse quickly transfer his love to another; instead of permitting parents to witness their children suffering through problems, Jesus has arranged death to be a short period of unconsciousness. There is no hardship in the departed one, for they are not conscious of passing time. They fall asleep and the next moment (so it seems) they awake and are reunited with their loved ones and Jesus.

Wrong. No one goes to heaven. The unredeemed will go to the Lake of Fire when Jesus returns to establish his kingdom on earth. But the lake of fire is not eternal torment. Read Edward Fudge's book: "The Fire That Consumes". The redeemed will live forever on the "New Earth" after God, the Father, makes it "new" again as it was in the original creation.

Nothing happens when you die. Once you're dead you are awaiting Jesus' return and the resurrection.
No one goes to heaven because humans do not possess a "soul" that can depart the body and carry off their conscious mind. They ARE "living souls" as it states in Gen 2:7 but so are ALL living creatures.
What is my view of heaven? Beyond anything we can possibly imagine.

When we do die in the flesh we will all go back to Father ECCL chapter 12 v 7,8 we will be on one side of paradise or the other side LUKE chapter 16 18,19 the good side we will greeted by Abraham Jesus & Mosses on the other side there will be a very sad dark place why because the persons missed out of not knowing Jesus and they have forgotten to repent for their sins in the flesh but still have one more option it will last 1000 years the good is that we will be in Sprit bodies

@@alchemistkingdickinson2256 All living creatures have God, the Father's "breath of life" that he breathed into Adam to bring the body he just created to life. It's not a "soul". That "breath of life" returns to God, the Father, at death. But it's not a "soul" that carries off your conscious mind. When you die, it's over for you until the resurrection.

I think when we die we stay dead, no one goes to heaven yet till the coming of Christ when the dead in Christ will be raised up first at the last days and will then ascend with Jesus.
You got it just about right. Not sure what you mean by "ascend with Jesus", however. Everyone who has ever lived and died will be resurrected to face Jesus' judgement seat. The redeemed will go on to live forever on the "new earth" with Jesus as their king and ruler.. The unredeemed will go to the lake of fire and be instantly consumed.

The only reason anyone will ever be in Heaven is solely by the perfect life, shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection, of Jesus Christ alone.

If your soul goes to heaven a minute after you die ...why did lazarus not speak about heaven when he was resurrected? And would it have been fair for Jesus to take Lazarus out of heaven and make him live again on the earth ?

Humans are purely corporeal creatures that exist only within a living human body. They have no "soul" that can depart and go somewhere after death. The redeemed will live again on the "New Earth" following the resurrection and judgement. The unredeemed will go to the Lake of Fire and be instantly consumed. You mean the thief on the cross? Jesus never said what you stated above.
Jesus said "I'm telling you today, you will be with me". Notice the comma. Jesus did not mean the thief would be "with him THAT DAY". How could he? Jesus went to the tomb for three days after he died. Was the thief in the tomb when Mary found him Jesus there?

Jesus did not go "straight to paradise". He went to the tomb for three days as he had explained in Matthew 12:40 "so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." He was resurrected on the third day. Was the thief with him in the tomb when Mary found him there? There is no mention of the thief.
Jesus probably went to heaven briefly after his resurrection to perform his high priestly ministry as when he spoke to his mother Mary and told her not to touch him because he had not yet ascended to the Father. But then soon returned and didn't go to heaven for forty more days.

The Catholic Church came up with number of unbiblical doctrines around the time of the Council of Nicea in 325AD. The Catholic church has several other doctrines you do not find in the bible such as the deity of Mary, Jesus' mother, transubstantiation in communion, indulgences, etc.

If they have rejected his offer of salvation from their sins he simply wants to be rid of them. The lost are sent to the Lake of Fire, not to suffer for eternity, but to be instantly consumed.
