I never understood just how blessed I was to work, even if it was at a job I didn't like, until I couldn't work. I love the gratitude mentality. Develop skills and get another job if it's that bad. I wish younger me was more grateful for my health and ability to work hard. I was stoked at 14 for my first job, and by 16, it was no longer exciting. Still a blessing though!

You really don't need to love or like your job, but you need to have a good attitude towards your boss, colleagues, and the job. Why? Be thankful you've got a job, you earn money, you can take care of yourself and if it makes you unhappy look out for something better. If you can be trusted with little, then you can be entrusted with more and who knows what that may be...

You don't have to like the job but you do have to have a positive attitude.

You have two choices for a fulfilling career. You can either make your passion your career or get a career that provides you the resources to enjoy your passion

Actually, I DO think everyone should pursue a career they love. I worked through jobs I disliked to land a high paying job that I like. I will never settle for a disrespectful boss.

Accept things or reject things, but don't tolerate them.... this applies to jobs.

This really depends on how she was acting. Like was she being rude to everyone, or was she just minding her own business and her employer was trippin?

My theory is that they had a problem with her for a long time, but never talked to her about it. She probably did have a bad attitude, but never noticed it until they brought it up, and by that time the employer already made up their mind. People can change if their boss communicates with them, they just have to give them a chance, and it'll be easier then firing someone and retraining another.

I usually agree with you Ruslan but I’m with her on this one. You don’t have to like your job to do it well. Unless you are getting paid for your passion, you are only going to work to make money. I’m willing to bet that if you asked 100 people that are great at their jobs, if they could make the same money without going to work… a majority if not all of them would just take the money.

The fact that she got fired is fair enough. I definitely don’t believe that employer should be beholden to “right to work” laws or anything more than At-Will employment, but without the rest of the context don’t see what she did wrong. She was being honest. If the criticism is that she didn’t fake being happy, I’d say there’s nothing wrong with that. Everybody likes to preach about the fake it till you make it mentality, but as Christians, I don’t believe that we should embrace falsehood.
    Work is a transactional relationship.
You are an employee not a slave, and you don’t worship your employers.
It just seems to me like a lot of these older generations want you to embrace complete subjugation without reciprocating an equal amount of respect.
Perhaps, if you don’t have the resources to take care of your most reliable employees, then you shouldn’t be running a business. Otherwise, don’t cry when you have to part ways with them.
