There is a proverb which says that "it is the cobblers always wears the worst shoes" just to say that there are men who for love of their professions, with an intense sense for friendship and helpfulness, devote themselves and devote most of their time to helping those who share the same passion. Hal is undoubtedly one of those rare guys who, beyond his amazing aptitude as a mechanic and system engineer, also has this aura that makes him a outstanding magician in this field of aviation. Respect ! ⭐⭐⭐ 🛩

Hal is a total class act and an absolute beast of a mechanic and design engineer on the Rotax engines. It's very impressive that he continues to stay in the top tier of STOL sports, while obviously being on a much smaller budget than almost all of his competition.

Hal is the reason I got into aviation! He landed one of his first planes ever on our dirt road and pulled it into our horseshoe driveway. It was open cabbed and had a two stroke Rotax. I ran down and stood open mouthed about 11 years old. He left the engine idling and yelled “Is your dad here?” over the engine and prop. I shook my head in disbelief and he yelled back “Tell him I stopped by!” he taxied through the driveway and took of down the dirt road.
I didn’t even get his name but it didn’t matter. Right away my father knew who it was. I now fly Paramotor.

Hal has always been my number one favorite. I mean everyone likes the screaming Yamaha of Steve Henry, but that’s cutting edge technology in specifically built airplanes. Hal it’s just like 99% of us putting stuff on there and seeing what works and flying it across the country to competitions. No quarter million dollar RVs and $70,000 trailers just a man and his machine.

If you ever saw Hal's LZ behind his place in Elko, like I have, you'd be even more impressed, it is the toughest I've seen, short, powerlines, rolling, narrow, it has it all! And that's coming from a guy whose own strip is considered pretty weird by most, it's like KLAX compared to Hal's.

The panel shot at 7:08 says it all, no big ass MFD, or two, "just the facts mam!" I'm happy with my mostly stock S-7S, still, after 3000+ hours, and don't have the motivation to do a lot of these mods. I keep hoping I'll wreck it, then I can justify at least the wing cuff, but no such luck.

Jonas I am a navy air veteran of the Vietnam era and I am a resident of the Pocatello veteran's home I would love to see some STOL aircraft in person and talk to the pilots of said aircraft so if you could fly over the home and check whether it would be possible to land here then if it was ..there is a grassy more or less level hilltop near the facility that looks big enough to my untrained eye then perhaps we could put together a sort of fly in here before the snow flies ..what do you think ..yes ..no ..?

I would love to shake your hand and speak to you personally
