You gotta love Hal
There is a proverb which says that "it is the cobblers always wears the worst shoes" just to say that there are men who for love of their professions, with an intense sense for friendship and helpfulness, devote themselves and devote most of their time to helping those who share the same passion. Hal is undoubtedly one of those rare guys who, beyond his amazing aptitude as a mechanic and system engineer, also has this aura that makes him a outstanding magician in this field of aviation. Respect ! ⭐⭐⭐ 🛩
I could listen to Hal talk airplanes all day.....legend
Hal is a total class act and an absolute beast of a mechanic and design engineer on the Rotax engines. It's very impressive that he continues to stay in the top tier of STOL sports, while obviously being on a much smaller budget than almost all of his competition.
Good ol Hal with his wide smile and typical coveralls. Great guy.
Hal - king of light, I wish these comps were apples for apples horsepower wise!
Hal has always been my number one favorite. I mean everyone likes the screaming Yamaha of Steve Henry, but that’s cutting edge technology in specifically built airplanes. Hal it’s just like 99% of us putting stuff on there and seeing what works and flying it across the country to competitions. No quarter million dollar RVs and $70,000 trailers just a man and his machine.
I met Hal at Oshkosh last year at hanging out at the ultralight field. I recognized the flying lawnmower from different videos from the flying cowboys and Trent's and your channel and stopped in to say HI.
Hal is so laid back. Love him!!
Cool beans! This is the first time I have actually heard Hal being interviewed.
Jonas Marcinko - emissary for flight. Excellent video.
I love that you spent the time featuring Hal!! He's a true rockstar.
Hal is the reason I got into aviation! He landed one of his first planes ever on our dirt road and pulled it into our horseshoe driveway. It was open cabbed and had a two stroke Rotax. I ran down and stood open mouthed about 11 years old. He left the engine idling and yelled “Is your dad here?” over the engine and prop. I shook my head in disbelief and he yelled back “Tell him I stopped by!” he taxied through the driveway and took of down the dirt road.
I didn’t even get his name but it didn’t matter. Right away my father knew who it was. I now fly Paramotor.
It was a great event. Pleasure meeting you there!
I could listen to Hal talk about planes all day...The guy has an incredible knowledge and the piloting skills to match
Jonas, to be like Hal when you're his age - you'll have made it. Props to him and thank you for sharing.
I saw Hal at Oshkosh!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍 was like wait a second, I know that airplane! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome interview! Hal is such a great guy. The Lawnmower is so recognizable, especially when it jumps into the air like a helicopter...or lands on a postage stamp.
The man’s a national treasure!( you too, Jonas 😂) 👍
So glad to be in pinedale last week it was so fun !! Hopefully we can get you out on the mountain this winter for some grooming
I hope so too!
I love Hal. We won’t be so light but we’ll be making more horsepower (turbo intercooled) with 4 more feet of wing span and the cuff. We’ll see!!!
He is something, Hal is awesome!
Hal seems like a real salt of the earth pilot. A pilot’s pilot 👨✈️.
Gods pilot!? How’s the old joke go about fighter pilots And God??
Always nice to see Hal getting busy he might have twice the horsepower but you got twice the fans
That is crazy competing at that high altitude and then the density altitude is just insane! Thanks Jonas!👍👍
It really is!
Hal is a national treasure. I don’t know many people so willing to help others, nor as knowledgeable and willing to share. ❤
Hal brought the Lawn Mower over to my airport, Independence, OR, and smoked the competition! Great to see him!
Man! I've got to get to one of these shows some day! We have nothing this fun in the Northeast, at least that I'm aware of. Great interview with Hal! Been seeing him on RUclips for years. Nice to see his latest version of the Lawn Mower! Thanks, Jonas! 👍👍
Super cool that you interviewed Hal. Were you volunteering as well?
This was such a fun event! I'll be back this year for sure!
That looked like fun.
The panel shot at 7:08 says it all, no big ass MFD, or two, "just the facts mam!" I'm happy with my mostly stock S-7S, still, after 3000+ hours, and don't have the motivation to do a lot of these mods. I keep hoping I'll wreck it, then I can justify at least the wing cuff, but no such luck.
Noooo don't do that! Sell the wings to me, you can build new ones and I'll just need an airframe😅
Great interview!!
Good Show. Enjoyed
I chose your video first over Trent Palmer's hanger video
Haha same here.
That was so random that we posted at the same time! I was like wth. haha thanks for choosing mine first 😀
@@JonasMarcinkoI had to order one of the Hal Stockman shirts. I fly a RANS S7 also. I just wish I had more money to make things happen faster. Good stuff haha.
If TRUE ...EXCELLENT NEWS
IOH MY GOSH!!!
forgot I had ''MESUS'' goin in the background... and well lol it fits the QUICK TAKEOFFS LOL
One cool dude!!!
Hal Stockman, the most famous guy on RUclips, that isn't on RUclips.
I think if Hal had anywhere close to Steve's power it would be a matter of pilot proficiency (who flies the most accurately) as to who wins. Hal is real close right now👍
If you ever saw Hal's LZ behind his place in Elko, like I have, you'd be even more impressed, it is the toughest I've seen, short, powerlines, rolling, narrow, it has it all! And that's coming from a guy whose own strip is considered pretty weird by most, it's like KLAX compared to Hal's.
When the sun shines straight through the oratex how does the uv not break it down? The other systems use loads of silver under the topcoat to block all light from the fabric
Crazy Fun!
Very nice. 👍
G,day Jonas from Sydney Australia. Hard for the STOL pilots to match the yellow 44 Yamaha.
Shear HP v every AoA mod.
Hope you have some time to cover some wings: what was the name of that frame "Defience" 🌏🇭🇲
Let’s gooo
The guy in the thumbnail looks like a younger version of Max Goldman in Grumpy Old Men. 😂
Jonas I am a navy air veteran of the Vietnam era and I am a resident of the Pocatello veteran's home I would love to see some STOL aircraft in person and talk to the pilots of said aircraft so if you could fly over the home and check whether it would be possible to land here then if it was ..there is a grassy more or less level hilltop near the facility that looks big enough to my untrained eye then perhaps we could put together a sort of fly in here before the snow flies ..what do you think ..yes ..no ..?
I would love to meet you and show you some stol aircraft and would love to check your spot. who do i ask for ?
I have emailed the director about it he should come to my room and talk to me about it monday or tuesday ..at which time I will show him you and your plane on my computer and explain what we would like to do ... will get back to you soon
Josiah Dahlstrom is the director he would be the person to get the go ahead from ...or if you could drive in here to the Pocatello Veteran's home and visit me I could show you where I hope you may be able to land and take off and we could decide if it's even feasible .. I would love to shake your hand and speak to you personally
Hurricane, UT is pronounced "Herkin". Us locals have to correct folks. It's kind of a thing.
Good video. How are we supposed to divide our cheering between Hal and Steve? They are both awesome! Hopefully they tie someday and we all win.
Jonas would you say Rotax is the most popular powerplant at these events?
🎉
Does Hal fly Lawnmower to events?
yes he does. and brings all his tools with him in the airplane.
If you look on his wing struts he has some channels that pods pin onto. He had me surprised how much stuff could fit into them.
These are fixed wing helicopters.😂
👍!!!!!!!!!!👍
😎
915 (special)
😂 true
Location?
How much do those coveralls he wears weigh? He could take that off and save a couple pounds. He probably has a screwdriver in his pocket while he's flying, too.
Dude...
and redbull tried to make a big deal out of landing on a roof.
The 300lb man who fasts down to 86 lbs IS The Winner Pilot,,,,,, lol.
6:00 I like how pilots will spend money to shave 1.5 lbs off their plane when they could stand to lose 20 lbs themselves.
Good point, but doesn't apply to Hal or Steve H.
...and the mainstream media is trying to push these heavy and complicated quadrocopters for VTOL and flying cars, hahaha.
It's not "Hurri-cane," it's "Hurri-kin" lol Utah has all kinds of weirdly pronounced towns.
Great video, Jonas! Good interview with Hal and a great explanation and shout-out to the guys at @badlandsstolshop
