Not sure if I can really enter the shuttle platform area since it's usually off-limits if not used by the passengers, I believe. But I will definitely try going inside, legally, despite being uncertain.
That was the shuttle platform of Line 2's Cubao Station. The platform serves as an terminus for the shuttle service of MRT-2 which runs from Cubao to Santolan. Since shuttle service is being implemented so rare on Line 2 nowadays, the extra platform was sometimes used to park or store disabled trains temporarily.
maganda naman sana but the thing is it's only 4coaches! Paano yan makaka-cope sa napakaraming tao sa Manila? They should have a 12car-train, yung Mass Transit Railway pareho d2 sa Hong Kong! Atsaka bat may nagpa-paypay, wala bang aircon?😟
Despite the fact that the type of rolling stock being used by MRT-2 (often wrongly called as LRT-2) are for Heavy Rail, the system's infrastructure was designed and built as Light Rail-inspired, the reason why it has only short-configured trains. That's because its designers considered back then on why MRT-2 trains must be short was the viability; Line 2 is just 11+km long and its ridership is still very low (and has never exceed on its maximum capacity), that's why a Hong Kong MTR-like system along Aurora Blvd is not financially-viable.
In a statement of Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), the Anonas-Santolan segment of LRT-2 can be opened 2-3 months earlier than the declared 9 months of closure, after LRTA already found a new rectifier replacement for the said segment. Possible source will be from the newly-arrived transformers for the Unified Grand Central Station (UGCS), or on the recently-procured rectifiers for the LRT-2 East Extension Project.
The only video with a clear quality that shows the shuttle terminus platform.
Thanks for liking this video, even though it's shaky:) Will do a second and better look of it next time!

What is the maximum speed of lrt2?
As of now, LRT-2 trains can reach its maximum 80kph speed on some segments of the line.
