I left the Smartthings platform over a year ago, and you can't pay me enough to go back. I still see their constant outages. I haven't had a single outage since taking total local control of my smart devices. Home Assistant for the win.
@@Bubblehead696 Maybe one day for me. My order for a HA Yellow POE and CM4 was canceled a few months ago and the complete HA Yellow I ordered middle of last year just got pushed back to maybe August of this year.... lol
Thanks very helpful. I have wink which is getting worst. i want to switch to other hub that can connect my all system in one hub. Can i connect Lutron dimmers, switches and pico remote controls, also leviton dimmer and switches DIRECTLY to smart Things hub? thank
im slightly confused about the border router term for thread... for example i have a nanoleaf light matter enabled with thread but my smart things currently has no hub for thread if i add this it will act as a hub so i can add the light? Any help would be greatly appreciated and very nice video i just dont understand all the terms yet.
Great video as always concise and to the point! I have a shed that is connected to my house with wifi. I have a smartthings hub in the house. Could i use this in the shed to "extend" my smartthings control? I'm phasing away from z-wave and going to zigbee so nothing in the shed would be zwave but would like to use components in the house and shed as part of routines. Any better suggestions?
Honestly the SmartThings Station could be a good use for that! As long as your wireless is reliable and temperatures aren't an issue for the hub it could be a good fit. Other options would be WiFi devices, but meh, or waiting for z-wave LR to start being more available (you said you are moving away from Z-wave so not really an option just mentioning it). Just keep in mind hub to hub automations are not local so they will need to be cloud processed (even if the devices themselves can be local processed having two hubs forces the cloud processing as of today).
If I am not mistaken, in order to turn off the charging status light, you need a Samsung phone to do so. Just turning off the fast wireless charging setting, the charging status light will not be turned on while it is wirelessly charging.
I agree BTG. It is disappointing that it lacks the Zigbee Radio, (good disappointed face by the way). As you so aptly stated, the SmartThings V2 (2015 Hub) is a Matter controller that is able to support Matter devices, as it does not contain a Thread router. I was considering buying the SmartThings Station to use as a border router as I have a SmartThings V2 Hub. However, there is not much usability as my wife and I have iOS devices. Have you tried to pair any matter compatible devices?
I have a Pixel phone so I'm not able to use some of the features of the station which is fine, I picked it up just so I could get a thread boarder router 🤣 I actually don't have any matter devices yet so I have not been able to test out that functionality
@@BeardedTechGuy - I am sure you will publish something when you get a matter device for testing. Do you know if the version of thread on the Samsung Station? Has it been updated to Thread 1.3.0 yet?
Yes! Adding Amazon Alexa to Samsung SmartThings allows for you to control most devices on the SmartThings hub with your voice through Amazon Alexa. It will NOT however allow for you to control devices that are integrated into Amazon Alexa within SmartThings.
What are your thoughts on the SmartThings station? Let me know below!

It’s a great option for people new to smart home hubs or for V2 hub users.
I fall under the v2 hub user category and picked up the SmartThings station specifically for thread 😂

Very well explained.
good video for beginners!

Oh interesting, I don't have a Samsung phone so I am not able to test that out though
Can smart station hub is showed in HA ?
Smartthings Keep growing, very good video.
I'm curious where they go with matter. I'm glad you liked the video!

@@BudsSmartHome how do I check that? I only see thread network information but not version information on the hub
Great video! Lack of zwave is crazy!
Does it work with Philips Hue? Or should I say, can it replace my Philips Hue?
Nice thumbnail!!
Thank you!! I think it might be the first one I've managed to make the way I envisioned in my head lol

is it a wifi mesh too?
No, it only connects via WiFi. It does not act as a wireless access point.
@@BeardedTechGuy thanks
Is it worth the $1?

No Zwave Plus is a non-starter!
I imagine it's not to compete with the Aeotec Hub but still feels like a really big miss to me :(
