    In 1967 I met D. Oistrach. He was a simple, very decent and very modest man.

    OMG who could possible give this video a thumbs down? It's David Oistrakh playing Bach for goodness sake. It's heaven.

    Bach and Vivaldi are truly the best Baroques...David Oistrakh is unimaginably talented and graceful.

    David Oistrakh is my idol. He is the only one player who emotes certainty, power, energy, precision. He is a towering figure of 20th century music.

    I played this for Indiana's Solo and Ensemble competition, and I took it to state yesterday. I got gold! The judge left me a comment saying she had listened to this piece several times, and I was the first one that played it like Bach. :)

    • @justamusician7846
      @justamusician7846 4 месяца назад

      You sure? If you received such a positive comment, I guess you used a baroque bow and baroque phrasing, the gut strings are optional. Because playing Bach like Bach isn't playing Bach like Oistrakh or Menuhin or Gitlis

    oistrakh jouait comme il respirait ,, l'archet n'avait plus besoin de sa main , une force supèrieure ineffable , enlaçait l'instrument et l'archet , au loin l'ombre du cantor majestueuse et humble à la fois , errait si haut dans les étoiles en appréciant oistrakh exécuter ses propres créations ,,

    I have this exact performance on CD and I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's a little weird seeing it played so long ago, but I think this is--by far--the best interpretation of this piece. Most lead violinists I've listen to play Bach's violin concertos way too fast. If you can, buy the CD of this performance. It's the best CD I've ever purchased.

    It is the New York State School Musicians Associan. Its like a solo festival for kids who are serious about musical instrumuents and voice. They play some sclaes and sight read and have to play a solo piece in one of the six levels. This one is a level 5.

    I was just objectively talking my opinion. Oistrakh is great,no any question about it. but nobody is 100% perfect all the time. for this recording, if you watch Hillary hahn playing the same piece, you will notice her extraordinary significance. her vivid interpretation, energized, pleasant stable pace and more.. still Oistrakh is one of the great violinists of 20th Century for sure. my idol when I was a kid.
