Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful Oistrach clip ... even all these years since his death and I fall in love each time with the warmth and perfection of his playing.
I played this for Indiana's Solo and Ensemble competition, and I took it to state yesterday. I got gold! The judge left me a comment saying she had listened to this piece several times, and I was the first one that played it like Bach. :)
You sure? If you received such a positive comment, I guess you used a baroque bow and baroque phrasing, the gut strings are optional. Because playing Bach like Bach isn't playing Bach like Oistrakh or Menuhin or Gitlis
his recording has been my favorite for over 40 years since i first encountered it as a teenager. Many thanks for posting a video of an artist i was never able to watch live
I have this exact performance on CD and I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's a little weird seeing it played so long ago, but I think this is--by far--the best interpretation of this piece. Most lead violinists I've listen to play Bach's violin concertos way too fast. If you can, buy the CD of this performance. It's the best CD I've ever purchased.
Bach's pieces have been performed so many ways. 1060 has been done with a violin and an oboe, 2 violins, 2 harpsichords, a panflute and a violin. I'm sure the list just goes on and on.
There is no doubt about it - The music of Bach is Divinely inspired, and his gift came from God If that offends someone then they don't truly appreciate his music
This list of comments is living proof of the beauty classical music has to break through all language barriers. We have Spanish, English, Japanese, and other languages posted. Such a peaceful setting.....
This guy is the best ever. He playes like god and is ten times better or more then other musiciants. he owners all others and has a sound that nobody could and had ever have, because he is the pro.
A very Young Colin Davis at the helm - but what gloriously ripe and musicianly violin playing. One of the greatest, David Oistrakh. No wonder the late Mstislav Rostropovtich idolised him
its a grade 8, I'm doing my exam in a few months and this is one of my pieces.. lovely song. Fabulous. You only have to do the first movement, not the second or third.
BRAVO
It is the New York State School Musicians Associan. Its like a solo festival for kids who are serious about musical instrumuents and voice. They play some sclaes and sight read and have to play a solo piece in one of the six levels. This one is a level 5.
Ralph Rusconi: David is the best violin player that i ever heard , he was plaing at a n amazing level even at his younger age (5), I could practist thi spiece for ever and never get the sound as importand-interesting-coo as his. He is PRO..
Very cool. It's a great piece. The conductor seemed pretty reserved. I used to have one that was known for throwing her baton mid concert and just flailing her arms wildly.
I was just objectively talking my opinion. Oistrakh is great,no any question about it. but nobody is 100% perfect all the time. for this recording, if you watch Hillary hahn playing the same piece, you will notice her extraordinary significance. her vivid interpretation, energized, pleasant stable pace and more.. still Oistrakh is one of the great violinists of 20th Century for sure. my idol when I was a kid.
In 1967 I met D. Oistrach. He was a simple, very decent and very modest man.
OMG who could possible give this video a thumbs down? It's David Oistrakh playing Bach for goodness sake. It's heaven.
Bach and Vivaldi are truly the best Baroques...David Oistrakh is unimaginably talented and graceful.
David Oistrakh is my idol. He is the only one player who emotes certainty, power, energy, precision. He is a towering figure of 20th century music.
Will always be the greatest violinist of all time!
David Oistrak is the best and my son is playing it right now and is pretty good.
David is the best and his sound breakes my heart .
Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful Oistrach clip ... even all these years since his death and I fall in love each time with the warmth and perfection of his playing.
Bach's music is the sole true proof of the existence of Bach.

Simply the best.
I can't believe my eyes, there was an empty seat...

C'EST tellement vrai
It's amazing how the solo and the orchestra seem to fit together like a puzzle - they blend into the perfect musical masterpiece!
Like is not enough for this masterpiece! Absolutely amazing!!!❤️🎻🎶

There isn't any better......tribute to Oistrakh!
I wonder who are those 3% who disliked this performance. This is simply gorgeous.
Oistrakh es un gigante del instrumento. Amo Mozart pero a Bach no hay cómo superarlo

He just made it look effortless … Masterful …

He pushed the the tempo down as he started playing as if he was not happy with the original tempo. What an authority. Great player.
klmnps are you being sarcastic or??
@@ashlieshi5486 no it is what happening, he pushes the tempo down
How much?
what a beautiful song!!! i love violin's sound!!!
There is no doubt about it - The music of Bach is Divinely inspired, and his gift came from God

This guy is the best ever. He playes like god and is ten times better or more then other musiciants.

I love this. Thank you for posting it - it gives me great hope and pleasure.
it is just perfect.
RIP David Oistraj, teacher of the teacher of my teacher, him grand son is so orgullous
Just something about Bach compositions... their purity of tone and Intricacy of melody cannot be compared.
Me too, if anything it's more slow than fast. Defininitely not rushing.
Such a beautiful piece of music and this violinst is as clear as a bell.
Very nice. I somewhat reminds me of a homely living room. I also like the playing of the orchestra, very clear.
Wonderful performance!

Imho this is the perfect tempo at which this piece should be played. :)
Abhirami G.
Laughing my hat off?
Well this piece should be played a little bit more slow
@@boitjie In my honest opinion

David rocks!
Замечательный плейлист. Просто очень, очень.
Wow, I've only ever heard one or two recordings that match this one. Awesome.
I still remember & always will ..... ♥♥
Hear hear. The genius belonged to no one except Bach himself.
Me too, I have listened hundreds of times too !
This guy is the best ever
great!
If this is the RUclips video that I am addicted to this is it...
Gorgeous!
Agreed. It's both not too hard, and not too easy, yet sounds so awesome that I feel so damn happy, playing it.
