This incident means a lot to all of us, hardwork and dedication might not always necessarily end up in success but it still will make you a winner. Graeme Smith didn't step out of the field as the last casualty rather he stepped out as a role model to many and a dedicated fighter. We can't always say that hardwork results in success but it always results in vital life lessons...

Even the great old Windies of the 1980s were more brutal and merciless. But they were far generous from these Aussies. Something which screams, that Windies are worthy of respect, Aussies are not.

@@jugalkishornayak8863 Getting the ball to hit his hand was probably the only way they could get him to play the ball and get out...Thats the plan after all. There was no intention of making him injured for months.
Graeme Smith came to bat after getting injured so he also must be aware of getting it further injured until he's on crease. The fact that he stood for his nation is something respectable and inspiring for younger generations
But, for Australia to win the match they had to go after his hand or else Smith would have left the deliveries unplayed and the match would have been drawn. You seriously cannot let a match go away from your hands for the reason that you were feeling merciful for your opponent, that's not how game works.

So many comment on the cracks in the wicket by people obviously not accustomed to Australian wickets. Characteristic of the Sydney wicket. Excellent cricket wicket that produced results, not boring marathons. Very good for batting first 2-3 days, then deteriorate to become difficult by late day 4. 220 often a very good 4th innings score with some cracks opening by then and taking spin. A complete test for 2 teams that brings every single player into the game at some point over 5 days.

There's only a very thin membrane of luck that divides bravery and stupidity sometimes. Thank God that he came back safe to the pavilion. He could've been on the other side too. But for the intent... The mental decision... Should i go or not to try n save my team... I praise this man!
