Right? It was on brand, that's why I didn't make it a big deal of him being a drama queen bc anyone will be jealous too and it was also explained in the book.

I'm still living in that Pride and prejudice dance. Colin caressing softly Pen's face. It was so beautiful. Also, the confrontation/kisses outside the modiste, it was so intense. It shows that even in this mess they love and care so deeply for one another.

Yes, but I would have like to see that reluctant passion on their wedding night too... or just the after marriage the deep conflict not being there (despite the queen). That I'm going to sleep on the couch scene was a reshoot (from Colin's hair) I really wish post wedding, that he was clearly supporting her even if he was still struggling with her decisions

    • @gotasintrospectivas
      @gotasintrospectivas 17 дней назад +3

@@kellyvalence5323 that's valid, but I think It is ok that he's keeping space from her. Everytime he asked her to give up Whistledown she didn't accept, so he was hurting even deeper after the Queen moment. It was sad, but It was also Quick, Just one Episode. By the middle of Episode 8 he was already coming around.

@@gotasintrospectivas Yes, it's understandable that Colin steps back after the Queen threatened his family & she still doesn't want to stop writing, I guess I'm just longing for the less dramatic relationship that they had in the book. It's the more modern sensibility they are injecting. In the book, he comes to recognize the brilliance of her LW work & he puts everything on the line to save & protect her from the fallout from it. I'm fine that they have given her more agency in the show BUT I wanted to see him clearly supporting her. It seems like the show is constantly making changes that undercut Colin's character

@@kellyvalence5323 I think most complains are from the book fans. I feel like with an image in your mind of Colin book character you can't get to truly appreciate Colin show character. From what I understand, Show!Colin is more flawed and his hurt from LW is deeper. So It's more difficult for him to reconciliate Pen and LW, but I also think that It was so beautiful that his words on the mirror are really similar to the final declaration, because when he read those old letters from Penelope he realized that LW was already there. He already knew Penelope completely. The answer to his turmoil was there all along. He is more obnoxious but when he comes around there's no turning back. Also Pen in the show and in the books are different too, right? Show!Pen wants to be appreciated, loved and not saved or secured. I see people complaining because Book!Colin defended her to The Queen. The situation here is different as The Queen is a more important character in the show, Penelope's Archnemesis in a way, so It makes Sense that Penelope and The Queen would solve their issues by themselves. I also think that he comes to appreciate LW, he Said so. He even Said "blood brilliant". I think you Just want that reaction to come sooner. But I digress, what I meant IS that I sugest to not look for the book in the show, especially in the next Seasons. It seems like they will take things a step further from the books.

This episode is my absolute favourite of the season. The wedding & their big dance brought me to tears.
    Book references:
1). We never got to read about Colin & Penelope’s wedding day in the book. It just goes from 3 days before their wedding then jumps to a week after it happened, so I’m so glad we saw it in the show.
2). Cressida didn’t publish her version of LW but Penelope did discredit her in her finale column and that’s how Cressida found out Pen was LW because the same insult she used in the column is the same insult she used towards Cressida at a ball some chapters before.
3). Random: Penelope has a 3rd sister in the book- Felicity, her younger sister and the nicest one. She was so happy for her when Pen & Colin got together.
4). Colin brings up Penelope being a renowned writer because he was jealous of her being confident in her writing and taking the steps to publish. Something he struggles with for a few chapters because he’s a little scared to share his writing with the world.
5). Queen Charlotte isn’t in the books, so that scene towards the end never happens to the Bridgertons
And that’s all for this episode (I think 💕)

I totally agree with everything you said about Benedict and the bisexuality coming naturally to him aside from one thing I think you missed in what he said. He said he'd never been tempted....before. That's how he said it as to imply that he'd never had an interest in a man before that moment between he and what's his name.

11:14 because social norms/programming can often override what comes naturally to people until they are first made aware of what is possible, and then feel safe enough to explore. They were caught by accident and now Tilly is explaining herself and leaving the door open for Ben, it's not as if either one is pressuring him. I, for one, love the queer storyline for him because it makes him more different and interesting than his brothers.

12:02 Must say, you seem to be misinterpreting her goals here. She is explaining the situation as simply as she can, and letting him know that if he wants, the door is open and the servants are discreet.
14:25 Cressida is the product of a home life far worse than that of the Featheringtons. She doesn't even know how to be a friend, and has been taught there is no such thing.
25:35 I really like that the vows made no mention of "obey."

I agree, I was taken aback by her reaction to Tilly; who I found to be very worldly and gentle... I know Bridgerton is a historical fantasy, but homosexuality was illegal during this period and men (or women) weren't socialized to believe queerness of any kind was 'natural'. So even if queer men aren't hanged in Bridgertonworld, I doubt your average English lord would immediately jump at their first chance to hop onto a d.

I think the internet and social media has seriously done a number on people's brains because they can't actually gauge what average weight is anymore. Nicola Coughlan is incredibly attractive in personality, looks, intelligence and humour. (Democratically elected) Queen Nicola ❤ I can understand how people see her and feel like she is an example for larger women, and that is fantastic. BUT she is not even plus size. She wears UK size 10 and US 6! I'm also a short Irish lady in her 30's with curves, I'm part of the "perfect breasts community" 😂 and I too have a fuller, youthful, oval shaped face. Ever since I hit puberty I had my shape pointed out as something to be changed, altered, shrunk, or fixed because I was 5 foot 1 with a chest, hips and a butt. I wore clothes larger than my size because women's fashion is not fit for purpose and companies make a ton more money by making women feel bad about their natural shape. I'm really glad to see things are slowly changing. 🎉How about we accept that humans are supposed to all be different and that is beautiful and it's okay to desire and admire people of different sizes, heights, shapes, etc.?

A shy person -- am thinking of younger Pen -- is going to feel shy about her romantic feelings, esp. if that other person is someone within their most close circle. It's the push/pull between wanting those feelings reciprocated, never imagining they will be, and not wanting to endure the pain and potential ridicule of being found out. And it's possible the shy person doesn't want to create pressure on the friendship that exists outside the romantic feelings. I don't understand why Eloise feels she should be entitled to knowing Pen's feelings about Colin, or even Colin's about Pen, before anyone else. And I do like Eloise a lot, but find her expectations here to be more about herself than either her friend or her brother.

In the books it was completely different, Colin found out right before the carriage scene and then said same lines and instead of it being the bridgertons to know first he went to her home to tell her mother but her mother kept thinking he was about to ask to marry her youngest daughter who’s actually not in the show.
Colin was grossed out and pissed off by it cause she was the same age as hyacinth so she was literally a child and he kept thinking “why the fuck would I marry a child!?” And ended up snapping at her.
The “conflict” in the books from the wedding onwards was about how Danbury actually put out a reward for who ever finds whistle down but it was supposed to be just a game of sorts and she was practically best friends with Penelope, she had a similar relationship with her that she has with violent and the queen in the show.
She was the biggest polin shipper along with hyacinth and Penelope’s younger sister, and everyone in the bridgerton family including spouses all shipped them very openly but those 3 were the biggest shippers.
The main thing causing issues was that pen had wanted to put out one last column so Cressida couldn’t take credit and get the reward money, Danbury had actually said she didn’t believe Cressida so she wouldn’t be getting the money and she was actually pissed by Cressida doing that.
But pen felt like she had to make sure everyone knew she wasn’t lady whistledown because that’s her life’s work and her life long bully is trying to take it.
Colin didn’t understand and told her not to and just let Cressida take the fall because he believed it would destroy Penelope and ruin her life if she did and he always hated Cressida so he saw it more as a positive.
That’s the argument they had in the carriage that lead to the sexy heated carriage moment but they never actually resolved the argument and she put it out without him knowing and at the engagement party that’s when it was released and Colin wasn’t happy at all.
That’s where I stop for now on what happens in the book because the end is kinda similar to the show and I don’t wanna spoil anything but one thing I can say is that Eloise was highly impressed and happy pen turned out to be whistledown and if I remember correctly she had this moment of “HOW DID I NOT KNOW!?” And it was honestly really funny and cute, since Colin and Eloise now know in the show where your at I can only somewhat talk about how they found out. I think Eloise was mainly upset Colin knew but she didn’t and the fact she had no idea when pen is her best friend but it wasn’t made into a big deal it was just goofy.
In the books there was no moment where they had a fight bad enough for them to not talk to each other for like half a day, they still really love each other and expressed it, it was never a question if it could ruin the marriage or anything, it wouldn’t even dent it in any way, kinda like a couple arguing about what color they should paint they’re house or something.
In the books they have the most stable and healthy relationship in their individual books and it was honestly so refreshing to see such a good relationship when entertainment always has these crazy unhealthy relationships all the time.

He still is trying to find himself in society and his family and Pen have found themselves. You could say he is envious and or Jealous. But he also looks up to Pen he is just having a tough time expressing it. Colin is a very emotional individual.

Love your reactions! In the book Colin marries Pen knowing she is Whistledown and wants her to stop writing but before they do, she realeses a column at their engagement party to discredit Cressida and he gets angry and asks her if she planned that to entrap him, then words are said, she tells him she'll leave and he begs her to stay and they have their first time. So it wasn't exactly ooc for Colin to say that, even though he doesn't believe that and book Colin is not as soft as show Colin.

I hated that entrapment line - it was so out of character. Colin ruined her proposal from Debling, chased down her carriage, trauma dumped his feelings on her and then well, we know what happened next and then the proposal - in WHAT WORLD could she have planned ANY of that. Not to mention that he went out of his way in episode 5 to stand up to her mother when Portia accused her of the same thing. I get that he's angry, but even then the Cinnamon Roll Colin we've seen this season would NEVER have said that to her.

    • @Pfruit0916
      @Pfruit0916 17 дней назад +20

I hated that line bc it hurt pens feelings but from Colin’s point of view it’s valid.
Marina…her cousin tried to entrap him so he would marry her and raise her children. That had to be in the back of his mind and having her own mother bring it up has to make him question things. He gave Pen an out at the engagement party. He asked her multiple times what was going on bc he knew there was something she wasn’t telling him. He told her they didn’t have to be intimate and she decided she wanted to go all the way before they were wed then he finds out she has been lying to him, days before the wedding. He has every right to feel betrayed. Deep down he knows Pen wouldn’t entrap him but I won’t judge him for having a moment of doubt considering his history.

Benedict always was written queer-coded in the show. It's been clear they don't fully follow the books (I will not comment on my opinion of the books here bc I don't wanna be attacked lol). In the first season, they hinted he was somewhat open minded and both him and Eloise had a talk in the swing that had a lot of queer subtext. People have been expecting this. I mean, they don't need to make this storyline, but if they don't want to, then they shouldn't queerbait. Either make clear a character is straight, or be willing to explore their sexuality. I don't think Tilly was trying to convince him to join them either way, I think she was probably afraid he could perhaps even out Paul and she was explaining herself and her friend. Remember, this is the 1800s. Queer people definitely existed, but if we have trouble telling our closed ones now, imagine how it was back then.
These stories are important. Again, if they didn't want to explore this, they just should not hint at it in the first place, because we already are minorities, who have to fight for every single right we should already have, and it's disheartening to be tricked into watching TV shows just for a drop of representation. So I'm glad they finally delivered, and with a main character, not just a side one for the sake of "here is your representation".
Finding someone handsome is different than being attracted too. Especially in a time where this was forbidden. Internalized homophobia was a thing, or even the unwillingness to try. Even today, some people don't discover themselves naturally or instinctually. So yeah, her talk with him was important. She wasn't trying to convince him, she was trying to explain.

I personally did not care for the whole Benedict plot because it was a remix of all his previous plots from the last two seasons minus the painting and art.
Also, I think they wanted to do this because if they didn’t do it this season they never would because next season is most likely Benedict’s season and they might give him another fling in the beginning of his season but they won’t last long because he will fall in love
Spoiler about his future love interest:
I think Sophia will still be a women because their situation work best if Sophia is a women (will you be my mistress lol) cuz it just give them one societal problem: her lower social status
If the character is a man it gives them two: lower social status and being a men and I really want to see how they go about making Benedict more likable because book Benedict was not it.
Spoiler about the end of season 3 and Francesca’s future
I think that why they made Michael a women because they will give gay romantic story to her since she would have already have married once so it would be more accepted if she stayed a widow. Tho I’m curious if it mean that her and John will have children (the ones she eventually has with Micheal) in the show. I’m very curious to see how it will unfold.
I’m not against making some of the siblings gay or bi but I really want to see the shows take on some of the pivotal parts of the books and in cases where swapping the gender changes that then no. In cases where it doesn’t then go ahead!
