Hello everyone, I have been pondering this and here is my thought about santa. Santa can be used as a way to explain to children the gift of Jesus. Santa brings presents and happiness to children, God has also given us a gift, Jesus who gives us more happiness than shiniest wrapped presents. Santa represents the generosity and giving nature of God. However Santa is a parable character, and pretend whereas God is not.
Hey, I guess my question would be, what would your biblical definition of a false god or spirit worship be? The dictionary definition of a little "g" god is: "a supernatural being that is worshiped." Santa has supernatural knowledge and ability. Kids stay up and night in anticipation of his arrival. Sing songs to and about him. Tell everyone what Santa gave them. They offer milk and cookies. They supplicate their gift requests. They receive some sort of answer to those gift requests. They ask other kids if Santa exists and then try to convince other kids that Santa is real. We are forbidden to seek spirits of the dead (if you are going with the St. Nic story) and to seek false gods, and if Santa began with imagination, Satan would be much dumber than advertised if he hasn't put a spirit in the place of the supernatural false being known as Santa Klaus that children are taught to believe is real. Nicholas gave anonymously to receive the heavenly reward and to give God the glory. Santa get's the glory due to God. Some say, it's just imagination. We can tell kids it's imagination and they still enjoy make believe even though they know it's not real. Why encourage them to believe in what's not real? Even if we seed the idea that "Santa has a secret," we're still misleading them, and they are still believing in this being until they figure it out. The serpent had a secret, too. Anyway, my kids know the Hulk isn't real, for example, and they still love the character. I'm sure God can forgive things done in ignorance, but the only biblical "explanation" for why it's not idolatry is basically that their kids, which isn't a biblical explanation and the age of accountability would't absolve the parents. We say, it doesn't hurt anybody, but then neither does consensual homosexuality. The main issue of Santa is that it's sin against God per the first commandment not to worship other supernatural beings in God's presence. Are there more pressing issues? Probably, but it's the acceptable sins that leave that we linger in. It's those sins against God alone that have those hidden costs that are hard to measure. We say, it isn't hurting anybody. I suppose if we are putting the 2nd greatest commandment (to love people) ahead of the greatest commandment (to love God), it isn't hurting the people in obvious ways, but kids don't repent. Kids that worship Santa become priests who teach their kids to worship Santa & priests who "don't ruin it" for the kids that don't know yet. They are not growing out of Santa religion, rather they are becoming initiated from being the worshiper to being the priest. P.S. I'm not making an argument based on history but based on the biblical definition of spiritism and or worship of a false god as Santa Klaus is currently practiced. P.P.S. I'm not surprised by the similar arguments between saying homosexuality isn't a sin and saying Santa worship is not a sin. Both sins are in the 1st Corinthians lists beginning with words "Don't be deceived." Both are fun for the folks who are drawn to it. It's true the kids know all these songs about Santa and there's supposedly Christian and their parents are Christian but they don't know one song about Jesus Christ and it's the parents that will be held responsible until the kids get to an age of accountability and then if they're still practicing they'll be held accountable to, imagine all the parents or parent in hell and their kids under 18 that are at the age of accountability watching them suffer for eternity in front of them that's got to be so horrible to watch and you're suffering at the same time! It wasn't until I started praying to renew the spirit of my mind, that everything really came to light. But even before that I would feel weird on Christmas that it was supposed to be celebrated for the Lord but nobody was mentioning God, instead of putting Jesus Christ on a present people were putting Santa Claus, I don't remember anybody wake it up and say hey let's pray to God and thank him for his son this is the day thank you Lord Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins, but everybody says it's all about Jesus but there's no Jesus in their home on that day just a bunch of Lies and if people really took the time and investigated they would see but they don't want to miss out they want to be a part of the world God says not to be of the world and so far I'm the only one in my family that doesn't celebrate Christmas and I came to this when I was 39 and my little boy he's 4 years old and he knows all about God he knows more about the Lords Jesus then a lot of Christians that supposedly been walking with God for a lot of years and I just tell him I'm sorry buddy when you get older you'll understand more right now we don't celebrate that and I explain to him why, we are not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of the spirit of our minds! Plus if people did their homework they would know that the Shepherd's we're not out at that time with the herds it was Winter, snowing,raining very cold! So it wouldn't even be the correct time to celebrate Jesus Christ birthday. Everyday is Jesus Christ birthday every day we worship the Lord God in heaven and I can't imagine the Lord saying to me away from me for I never knew you because you were conformed to the world, you knew in the back of your head it was wrong but you still did it cuz you didn't want to be left out. And Halloween same thing! ---Mama I'm going to wear that zombie suit for Halloween okay son, knock knock, who is it? It's the Lord Jesus, who's at the door son? It's the Lord Jesus mom it's the Lord Jesus. Hurry up and put that zombie suit away and hide it...im I rite?! --- knock knock, who is it? once again little Joey asks before opening the door, it's the Lord Jesus! Okay babe and little joey go get all the elves all the Santa Claus all the reindeer and stick everything in the closet real quick, so all he see's is the tree, and we'll tell him that we're not worshipping it and that we did not pick out the best tree at the lot, we just went in and said we'll take that one, and is the Lord Jesus asks just tell him that we think of it as the Tree of Life okay?! Oh and real quick little Joey go run downstairs into the garage and grab the sign that says happy birthday Jesus on it. Maybe the Lord will be okay with us just having just the tree and we'll just let him know the lights are just to show people the tree of life that we are Christians and its nothing like what they did in the Old Testament of cutting down a tree and beautifying it worshipping it, standing around it singing songs. Go put some Christian music on real quick turn off the Reindeer songs right now of Santa Claus! I could say so much more but I think I'll stop here I pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the mines all those who read this that celebrate Christmas are opened to the truth of what Jesus commands, not asks, commands we do and live like. Connect the dots and didn't the Lord say to Peter I'm going to make you the church in a sense, paraphrasing. And that was in the Book of Matthew and in the book of Acts Peter was baptizing people in Jesus Christ. we pray in the name of Jesus Christ we bless our food in the name of Jesus Christ everything we do in word and deed we do in the name of Jesus Christ, Christ is even in the Old Testament, I started asking God to show me the truth about things, show me through the Holy Ghost I want to glorify you the correct way and he sure showed me!

Nobody knows when the savior was born, The scriptures suggest, This Has to be between early Sept. and mid Oct. Luke 2:8-11 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. (KJV BIBLE). Doug Batcher Has done the right thing telling explaining to his flock about 1 (ONE) of the pagan holidays, I really don't know about the other preachers. They all need to be bold like this. Feed My Sheep with the truth, don't water it down, or compromise. If they get offended so be it. AMEN

(Romans 12:2) Giving homage to a fictitious, supernatural figure like Santa Claus, and detracting from the true essence of Christmas, which is the incarnated birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, seems to be the idea of conforming to this world. I think it's a big mistake to encourage born-again believers to do so.
Should search further & wider for the deepest truth & be found by the REAL heavenly name of the Messiah than believing in the False earthly name. Santa AKA Satan. Christ-MASS is a pagan holiday idolatry. We don't celebrate any holidays of this world. We must know that we are in Messiah.

I don't see how having some fun with Cristmas detracts from Jesus, in fact it might make them even more interested in the holiday.
I'm thankful of this ministry but I do respectfully disagree with this teaching. I believe that you should dig deeper and consider how sly Satan is while doing so. The roots of Christmas and Santa Claus goes back way further and goes deeper than what knowledge you have shared with us. I encourage you guys to check out the Know Your Enemy series here on RUclips. For those willing to actively chase God's heart and seek truth, it's worth the time to watch the entire series. I do not agree with everything in the Know Your Enemy series and I don't agree with everything the ministry, The Fuel Project, behind it believes but as far as the history of humanity shared in the series, it is spot on. I've checked the various known sources, their validity and it's all information everyone has access to in libraries across the world. Thank you for helping us not be judgemental Christians. That part is good. But deception doesn't always have an evil face. Quoting selected scripture doesn't make your point true. Is the Easter bunny harmless as well? It is even more outlandish in my opinion.
that's right Todd deception doesn't always have an evil face like my boy said above in love, Pastor Todd, The devil has been studying us for thousands of years whatever he could put in the way to block us from true worship and especially the kids he's going to do so, the bunny rabbit what do the kids think about? not about Jesus Christ being raised from the dead but they think about the bunny rabbit and they can't wait to go and find eggs, is that scriptural? I'm just curious, I'm the only one in my family that has walked away from Christmas so far and my four year old boy knows the truth but cuz mom is mad at me for telling him the truth, but he still thinks Santa Claus is real so I just let it be, I'm not going to Hound him about it, but when he comes over to his home with Daddy he knows we don't celebrate that here or Halloween or bunny rabbits. I read the Bible to my little boy we pray in the morning we pray over our food we pray before we go to sleep we pray throughout the day we pray for protection and pray for God to encamp his Angels around us, we pray for the protection of the blood of Jesus Christ before school, before everything, God is faithful and just. I prayed to know the truth I kind of already knew in the back of my head I started feeling guilty about it, Christmas that is and Easter but Halloween I've always known that's been bad. But I really prayed for the truth and God was just to give it to me through the Holy Ghost and I suggest that you really start praying for the renewing of the spirit of your mind every night because that sheds off the carnal mind and allows you to walk in your new man and to walk in the spirit field mind or you'll still be fighting with your carnal mind, I'd rather walk in the fruits of the spirit Spirit-filled life, very hard to do if you don't have the spirit of your mind renewed. I know stories of people, where one spouse finds the truth out about these pagan holidays, but the other one doesn't want to stop celebrating Christmas and then a year or two goes by and after that, the person has been praying for the other and they find out the truth finally and they stopped celebrating Christmas amongst other pagan holidays so don't think you'll be left out because the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much! Well, look the story of Santa (St. Nick) had another figure, with horns and a switch to hit the kids who were naughty... so perhaps mention that as well. The generosity and kindness of St. Nick came from a later story that took hold because - well, hey, it's far more fun and saleable than two figures, one mean one nice, sometimes giving presents and sometimes beating children. I know the modern idea of Santa is different, but it comes from somewhere and it's important to give the whole story. I definitely like that you don't lie and tell your kids that he's real and he's the one that is the reason for the season... if my mum had lied to me and told me santa was real (and I've had friends fight for their kids to believe that as though it were more important than believing in God - actually!) I would not have been able to trust her on more important things, like Jesus and salvation. So, I think it's important to word things carefully with if you choose to include the concept of santa in this celebration. Otherwise you're teaching them that you can't always trust what your parents say is true, and subconsciously that might apply to teachings about Jesus (especially in such a powerfully atheist world).

Ecc 7:1 says that your day of death is better than your day of birth. Did you know that there are 2 places in the Bible where someone was celebrating a birthday? Phar’aoh celebrated his birthday. If parents profess to be followers of Christ then they should tell their children the truth. Tell them that they/we have not been reading God's Holy Written Word like He commands us to - and we had no idea about what He says in Jeremiah 10 - about not cutting down that tree, bringing it inside and then decking it in silver and gold. Tell your child that you (and the rest of the world) that you have been deceived by satan - just as God warns us will happen if we do not stay in His Holy Written Word. And due to that, you have been committing idolatry against Jesus Christ by deciding to follow the world and worship Him in the way that the pagans/ancients worshiped their "gods" - which God warns us not to do. Also tell God you are sorry that you have lied to your child - even though He warns us about bringing harm to any of His precious children - and oh, He also tells us that no liar shall inherit the Kingdom of Heaven - so you might want to repent for lying - to one of His precious children - for years and years. . Tell the child the truth - for a change. . If you are an atheist - then party on under that green pagan Roman catholic tree. It's not going to matter anyhow for you come Judgement Day.

A QUESTION TO Everyone ! Where is it written In the BIBLE That GOD ORDAINED US, Christians to celebrate JESUS' BIRTH ?? Nobody knows when the savior was born, The scriptures suggest, This Has to be between early Sept. and mid Oct. Luke 2:8-11 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. (KJV BIBLE). Doug Batcher Has done the right thing telling explaining to his flock about 1 (ONE) of the pagan holidays, I really don't know about the other preachers. They all need to be bold like this. Feed My Sheep with the truth, don't water it down, or compromise. If they get offended so be it. AMEN
You don't lie to your children because it's wrong so you tell them the truth and God will bless you for it.

"And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2) Giving homage to a fictitious, supernatural figure like Santa Claus, and detracting from the true essence of Christmas, which is the incarnated birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, seems to be the idea of conforming to this world. I think it's a big mistake to encourage born-again believers to do so.
Should search further & wider for the deepest truth & be found by the REAL heavenly name of the Messiah than believing in the False earthly name. Santa AKA Satan. Christ-MASS is a pagan holiday idolatry. We don't celebrate any holidays of this world. We must know that we are in Messiah.

I don't see how having some fun with Cristmas detracts from Jesus, in fact it might make them even more interested in the holiday.
Well the truth is Santa Claus definitely distracts from the true meaning of Christmas.
I'm thankful of this ministry but I do respectfully disagree with this teaching. I believe that you should dig deeper and consider how sly Satan is while doing so. The roots of Christmas and Santa Claus goes back way further and goes deeper than what knowledge you have shared with us.

I do not agree with everything in the Know Your Enemy series and I don't agree with everything the ministry, The Fuel Project, behind it believes but as far as the history of humanity shared in the series, it is spot on. I've checked the various known sources, their validity and it's all information everyone has access to in libraries across the world. Thank you for helping us not be judgemental Christians. That part is good. But deception doesn't always have an evil face. Quoting selected scripture doesn't make your point true. Is the Easter bunny harmless as well? It is even more outlandish in my opinion.
that's right Todd deception doesn't always have an evil face like my boy said above in love, Pastor Todd, The devil has been studying us for thousands of years whatever he could put in the way to block us from true worship and especially the kids he's going to do so, the bunny rabbit what do the kids think about? not about Jesus Christ being raised from the dead but they think about the bunny rabbit and they can't wait to go and find eggs, is that scriptural? I'm just curious, I'm the only one in my family that has walked away from Christmas so far and my four year old boy knows the truth but cuz mom is mad at me for telling him the truth, but he still thinks Santa Claus is real so I just let it be, I'm not going to Hound him about it, but when he comes over to his home with Daddy he knows we don't celebrate that here or Halloween or bunny rabbits. I read the Bible to my little boy we pray in the morning we pray over our food we pray before we go to sleep we pray throughout the day we pray for protection and pray for God to encamp his Angels around us, we pray for the protection of the blood of Jesus Christ before school, before everything, God is faithful and just. I prayed to know the truth I kind of already knew in the back of my head I started feeling guilty about it, Christmas that is and Easter but Halloween I've always known that's been bad. But I really prayed for the truth and God was just to give it to me through the Holy Ghost and I suggest that you really start praying for the renewing of the spirit of your mind every night because that sheds off the carnal mind and allows you to walk in your new man and to walk in the spirit field mind or you'll still be fighting with your carnal mind, I'd rather walk in the fruits of the spirit Spirit-filled life, very hard to do if you don't have the spirit of your mind renewed. I'm already lost some people because of being a Christian, though Christian is not the religion it's being a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ! I know stories of people, where one spouse finds the truth out about these pagan holidays, but the other one doesn't want to stop celebrating Christmas and then a year or two goes by and after that, the person has been praying for the other and they find out the truth finally and they stopped celebrating Christmas amongst other pagan holidays so don't think you'll be left out because the fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much!
I'd rather be alone I'd rather be alone and serve the Lord Jesus Christ the right way and not be conformed to the world, then to be conformed to the world a little bit, so that I don't feel left out and then by chance I miss living with the Lord my father for eternity. I'm so in love with God I want to keep his commands, I used to just love him, but now I'm in love with him and my son knows I'm inlove with God first and then he is second. And my son he will tell you he loves God first before he loves his dad and his mom!:) I tell him you love God first love the Lord God first before you love your dad and your mom or anybody or anything. I love you in the Lord Jesus Christ but I pray you speak the truth and I'd rather be alone and serve the Lord then be accepted by everybody because the Lord says not to be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of the spirit of your mind. And he also says put on the full body armor of God, so do we think that those two things just come with the territory of going to church on a Sunday and reading our Bible once or three times a day or every couple days or does God say, you don't have because you don't?! ask ask and it shall be given, right?

Well, look the story of Santa (St. Nick) had another figure, with horns and a switch to hit the kids who were naughty... so perhaps mention that as well. The generosity and kindness of St. Nick came from a later story that took hold because - well, hey, it's far more fun and saleable than two figures, one mean one nice, sometimes giving presents and sometimes beating children.
I know the modern idea of Santa is different, but it comes from somewhere and it's important to give the whole story. I definitely like that you don't lie and tell your kids that he's real and he's the one that is the reason for the season... if my mum had lied to me and told me santa was real (and I've had friends fight for their kids to believe that as though it were more important than believing in God - actually!) I would not have been able to trust her on more important things, like Jesus and salvation. So, I think it's important to word things carefully with if you choose to include the concept of santa in this celebration. Otherwise you're teaching them that you can't always trust what your parents say is true, and subconsciously that might apply to teachings about Jesus (especially in such a powerfully atheist world).

What about the star of Bethlehem that is normally placed on top of the Christmas tree? This ‘miraculous’ star first led the astrologers to King Herod, who wanted to kill Jesus. After Herod, the star immediately led the astrologers straight to Jesus. After Jesus, they started back to Herod, but one of God’s angels told them to go a different way. Matthew 2:1-12

Ecc 7:1 says that your day of death is better than your day of birth.
Did you know that there are 2 places in the Bible where someone was celebrating a birthday?
Phar’aoh celebrated his birthday. Was he a worshipper of God? Genesis 40:20
Herod celebrated his birthday. Was he a worshipper of God? Matthew 14:6
In both of these accounts, someone died, one of them being John the Baptist, Jesus’ own cousin.

If parents profess to be followers of Christ then they should tell their
children the truth. Tell them that they/we have not been reading God's
Holy Written Word like He commands us to - and we had no idea about
what He says in Jeremiah 10 - about not cutting down that tree, bringing
it inside and then decking it in silver and gold.
Tell your child
that you (and the rest of the world) that you have been deceived by
satan - just as God warns us will happen if we do not stay in His Holy
Written Word. And due to that, you have been committing idolatry
against Jesus Christ by deciding to follow the world and worship Him in
the way that the pagans/ancients worshiped their "gods" - which God
warns us not to do.
Also tell God you are sorry that you have lied
to your child - even though He warns us about bringing harm to any of
His precious children - and oh, He also tells us that no liar shall
inherit the Kingdom of Heaven - so you might want to repent for lying -
to one of His precious children - for years and years.
