    Quality wise? Probably
    Sales wise? Not a chance

    yokai watch could have done it too but level 5 fucked it up so good by milking it to oblivion

    I loved Yokai Watch & Monster Sanctuary since they had teams of monsters battling rather than a 1v1 battle, so I’m really excited for this one.

    Yes, I mentioned to someone somewhere that DQM is going to do better then the Pocket Monsters Scarlet and Ultraviolet.
    Also going to get that DQMDP since it looks like a prequel sidequel to DQIV though questions if it's canon or not.
    However going to get on Switch and hope someday it gets on PC which is unlikely.
    Going to get that Ayebou if possible. Though I will be disappointed if the original DQM games go in Switch Online.😢

    Gameplay wise DQM has always been able to give Pokémon a run for it's money. Pokemon is so big now tho and knocked all the other monster recruiting games and shows out the way like Digimon & Monster Rancher. Also remember World of Final Fantasy? Way better than most pokemon games but didn't sell as well at all.

      Yeah I regret not trying them out seeing as secondhand copies seem to be difficult to come across at an affordable price, at least based on where I've looked.

      @PeterGargan dude, I'm on my 3rd copy of DQMJ🤣. I lost the original as a kid, and I git the 2nd one stolen while I was in high school. They aren't that hard to fine and are actually really cheap if you go through game stop. They just have a bunch of old games collecting dust and they usually only sell them online, but nobody is going online to buy game stop games🤣. Just walk in and ask if they have any, if they say no ask if you can order it only and to be shipped to the game stop. They'll do it and it's really cheap. I believe I got my copy for like 29.99

      Technically it's not Monsters Joker, it's just Monsters. But it will be using a lot of the joker formula _(show of force, different sizes, synthesis, etc.)_ that it may as well be.
      I suspect this game may be handling synthesis the same way Joker 3 did. In that the monsters don't have genders or polarities anymore, and you can just fuse anything with anything.

    I really love DQM and this one looks very fun. But the one important thing for most people is how pokemon Scarlet and violet looks. And from the trailers it seems like DQM3 is looking even worse. But I'm still hyped for this game. Edit: okay, I watched the demo..and it supports what I thought.

    I prefer DQM but lets be real, its never going to dethrone Pokemon. The former may be huge in Japan, but the latter has a hold on the culture on a global scale

    Nah, their genres are the same, but the appeals in the game are completely different. It's almost like wondering if the quality of Persona is ever going to push Final Fantasy into a better RPG. For whatever reason, Dragon Quest has you role playing their characters and sacrificing monsters to get stronger. It's a style a lot closer to Shin Megami Tensei, and if Shin Megami Tensei did not push Pokemon, you can expect similar of Dragon Quest. I think the charming monster design is a compromise, but since you rarely keep the monsters you raise for too long of a time, you don't get as attached as you might a pokemon. Personally I think all pokemon fans should try and get these games, they are a lot of fun, but it's probably not going to scratch that Pokemon itch.

    I would love to see that happen. Sadly though, (Atleast based on peoples reaction to the nintendo direct) I do not see this selling much better then Treasures. I feel like alot of the people that jumped into dq 11 are kind of put off by all the spinoff games. To them, this is just another spin off. They may not have knowledge that there is a actual series of the dqm games. I am hyped through the roof for it but it seems like for the general audience does not see how big of a announcement this is when it comes to dragon quest. Just my opinion from the reactions i have saw so far.

    The fact that pokemon has held the spotlight for nearly 30 years when Digimon and dragon quest monsters is just flat out better always baffled me. It's like looking at Stockholm syndrome on a gobal scale.

      I totally see what you're saying, Ultra Moon was the last main series entry I played besides Legends Arceus which I made an exception for but the games in between as well as Scarlet and Violet just do not interest me whatsoever. I've finally got round to trying out the demo for The Dark Prince the other day and I've enjoyed it so far.

      @PeterGargan I honestly feel like I'm crazy sometimes 😅 I seem to have a very unpopular opinion that digimon and DQM has been better than pokemon games at least in some aspects since day one. And I don't even hate pokemon. I liked X & Y which a lot of fans didn't. It just feels strange. It's very much too big to fall. They could put out a bone picked game and people still buy it and defend it. If you love something you gotta hold it accountable if you ever wanna see it improve

      Yeah I'm aware, just pointing out that the timing of The Dark Prince is interesting considering the discourse around modern Pokemon, plus it's been a while since a DQM game has been brought outside Japan.

    Honestly both Nintendo and Square are holding out on making the ultimate open world monster hunting game because they already make money pumping out crappy reskins. Why change the formula?

    • @PeterGargan
      @PeterGargan  Год назад +1

      You'd think that their insane profits would provide a budget that would allow them to get a bit more experimental more often, I personally felt that Legends Arceus was a step in the right direction for example so who knows if they do have something like that in the works lol

    • @theycallmenick
      @theycallmenick Год назад

      @@PeterGargan Exactly, LoA was great but I don't think they gave it their all. I think the first company that goes all out and actually commits to a massive open world game with online co-op or even mmo like world, will win the competition and take over the "monster hunting" market.

    • @nindieboy4194
      @nindieboy4194 Год назад

      @@theycallmenickat that point I disagree. I think pokemon has to much fans on the hardcore and casual side. Temtem was the closest approach but wasn't good enough. And (at least for me) Pokemon ScVi is in general pretty good but the world itself lacks of more substance. Like, more bigger interconnected caves or going into big public buildings like a mall or so and more dungeons in general.(I don't need to break into private houses). And a quest system like in PLA. But outside the bugs and glitchy pictures sometimes, it really looks good I think. But If they do a more alive world in Gen 10 I don't think that there will be a competitor.
