I am in an area with quite a few smaller lakes that are not mapped out on my Garmin do you have a video on how to do this and can you use the side-view to map out a wider swath?
You bet, but the QuickDraw maps run independently from your sonar so it doesn’t matter which sonar type is used while your recording a map, it does it’s own thing. Video is below ruclips.net/video/H0ay-RE5WDI/видео.html
Nothing will be hurt for a half hour in moderate temperatures under 90 deg F in my experience, we all do it from time to time but I’ve heard of people damaging their transducers leaving them on for extended periods of time. Nobody I know has hurt a transducer but always best to turn it off or disable sonar when it’s out of the water
Hi, I am going to network 2 garments. They both have active captain on them. Is there a way to delete active captain From one of the units. without formatting my whole? SD card. thanks Virg
Hi Virg, just pull the SD card out of one unit. You only need one SD card in the network. The only thing to keep in mind is if you have waypoints, routes and tracks on one of the units that is the SD card you want to keep. If they are both new just put an SD card in one of the units and setup your network.
Yes, the active captain app is how you register and download software upgrades. It doesn’t use a removable SD card so all updates are done through the app
You have to “cast” your phone onto your computer then use a screen record app or just record your phone screen. If it’s an iPhone just touch the upper right corner and swipe down diagonally and on the left will be a record button. It will save to your photos. Have a great day!!
I'm regreating buying a Garmin GPS WITH ACTIVE captain to much set up! You have to be A silicon Valley tect to get it to work. I bought a $300 dollar chart and my old NavNet shows more fish sounding and I didn't have to do all this programing to go fish.
Seems kinda "fishy" that Garmin REQUIRES buyers of their product to go to a totally different company to get Garmin software updates, instead of getting them directly from the Garmin site! I'm old, but pretty good with a computer. But, not so good with this dang "smart phone" thingy! I have a very limited data plan because I mostly use the phone for making and receiving phone calls. I guess I'll have to bring the unit inside and jump through all of Garmin's hoops to update it. I wish I'd known about this before buying it now! This would've been a deal breaker for me!
You can do the updates on your SD card from a computer. Google “Garmin marine software updates” go down to the Garmin site and follow the directions. I think this video does a pretty good job of explaining ruclips.net/video/YrQUx08eyxI/видео.htmlsi=yS4oe8J4WuDdV0Sv

What happens if you leave sonar on by accident?

How do you power that up at home?

Play around with the overlays in your chart menus. Have a great day!
How can I put active capt on my screen while trying to make a vid??

Understand, it can be frustrating. If you have a local boat dealer in the area they might be willing to help you set it up.
