This was a very helpful video. But in my case, the symptoms were the same, but the solution was different. Our 2004 Highlander is a Limited, which has a computer chip in the key. I had a duplicate made a few months back at the hardware, and the guy warned me that the key may only work in the door. Fast forward a few months and I jump in her car to go gas it up, the starter cranked great, but the ignition or fuel pump were disabled. I was agonizing about how expensive the fuel pump was going to be, when the light went on in my head. I went and got my wife's CHIPPED key, it started and ran like a CHAMP !
Yes the keys are chipped for this car and will do the same as on the video and wont be able to start it. If you notice on your left side where it says security, The light will be steady if the key is wrong. glad you solved your problem without any repairs. 👍
2004 Highlander, stuck in parking lot with what same symptoms. Popped the fuse box and the blue EFI relay had become unseated somehow. It was just sitting on top of its slots. I seated it and the vehicle started as normal. Thank you!!!
U should also check the gear selector position, Highlanders won’t start unless they are in P position. So make sure the P sign on the cluster is on then try and start it up if everything else is good.

I just replaced the fuel pump but can't hear it turning on. The blue relay seems to work it clicks and swaps it with the horn. Can't figure it out
Pull the plug on the fuel pump and test for power and ground with the key on.
sounds like a real bad miss when starting up
What if the battery is completely dead.
If battery is dead, car wont even turn.
