I was just able to use this update for my Dallas, TX to Omaha, NE road trip. I am not sure I would use it again. It took me to some weird areas and some of the new charging stations along i35 weren't even available. I am unsure if it is because they were newer stations. It took me to some KSU campus where I didn't see any chargers and that was 20-plus miles off the interstate: terrible. I ended up using ABRP to plot stops on the way home, which seemed to be a better experience on the way back down. There was one stop, an OnCue, that had free chargers there that were giving me 150kW, which was very nice. Maybe after whatever reporting/systems are updated with current info, it would be worth another go for a long drive. It was better than nothing if that was the only option, but maybe manually plot some reliable-known stops for the time being with your phone and compare it with Kia's nav.
Ah that's good to know. I plan on using it in combination with ABRP and Plugshare personally until I can verify it's accuracy. 150 kW for free is pretty awesome too btw!

Kia told me that future automatic OTA updates will happen, but that the first one has to be done manually. Have you heard this as it makes no sense to me? @@TechnicallyJeff It says my car was updated february 23rd this year, software version is .221129 as the last 6 digits. I guess I have the newest version then?
this route planning it's ok, but it has major flaws. I live in South FL and to go to Disney, we us FL turnpike (faster) the route planning, plots the route on the turnpike until i need to charge, it takes me out to i-95 so I can get to an EA dispenser, when the rest stops over the turnpike have teslas and CCS chargers (FPL or Duke) but the infotainment does not have those networks built in, so It will plot the route according to the networks in the nav. So once I made the route, I cannot change the charger or the route, anything.
Oh that's frustrating. I'm surprised it doesn't have those chargers built in. That's definitely going to be a limitation. You could though modify the waypoint manually and add those in. But you wouldn't get the battery preconditioning if it doesn't recognize it as a charger (if that matters).
We drive that route (Clermont to Hollywood and back) every month. The turnpike chargers are so inferior to the EA chargers that we prefer to jump over to I-95 long enough to do a quick stop at the Port St. Lucie EA charger anyway. After charging up, we route back onto the Turnpike. Hmmm. I wonder if you maybe filtered out the slower DC chargers on the turnpike? One time we missed the exit and had to charge on the Turnpike. It was our slowest charging stop ever -- like 40 minutes to add about 30 kWh rather than 10 or 15 minutes in Port St. Lucie.
I noticed something annoying about the system - it frequently updates the upcoming EV charging stops based on usage. While this is okay, I observed that when I was using Android Auto, the notification caused the view to switch back to the main menu instead of staying in AA. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended design. I'm curious if anyone else has had this experience.

Practically useless if it doesn’t tell you your state of charge when you get to a waypoint or destination. I think we all know that it's important to have a contingency if stations are out if order. You can't plan a contingency with this iteration. I will continue to use ABRP for now coupled with Plugshare
Possibly. It is very early on. Only the Ioniq 6 had it previously. When I enabled with engineering mode a few weeks ago it had the estimated SOC and charging time though which is odd.
Yeah kinda frustrating it's not included. The only thing I can think of is they don't want people relying on that or complaining when it's off (since range can vary so much based on driving styles, temp, etc).
@@TechnicallyJeff yeah, same with the HDA/SCC, it can recognize the road much better and longer, the servo on the steering wheel can park the car, but it won't take a curve >20° autonomously. They just programmed it to instantly yield/give up with the slightest uncertainty.
@@TechnicallyJeff I menat if you included the update link where people could download it, that would help otherwise watching such video is kind of wasting the time.
Oh gotcha. I did include a link to the video that shows how to update (including the link to the site - there isn't a download link - it has to be downloaded using the navigation updater software).
Problem is it doesn’t seem to tell you what level of charge you will arrive with, or how much to charge the car before you leave. That makes it rather useless. Am I missing something here?
Yeah it's surprising they removed that. I guess since it shows you the distance to the next charging station they're letting people determine the SOC necessary?
I wish they allowed more integration with Android apps on your phone. I really prefer the map displays from my phone to the KIA provided one. Perhaps if they even just allowed us to initiate battery conditioning without having to use the map, it would go a long way to making things better.
Man, compared to a Tesla, this is so confusing. I really hope they improve this. I'd also love to see all this in the app because I'd rather plan on my phone whilst sitting on toilet, then just jump into my car and not have to think about it!

Yep exactly. I'll have to test if you send the destination to the car if it automatically plans chargers (I think it will).
@@TechnicallyJeff Oh that's a great testing idea. Definitely report back what you find sir. Thank you for all you do for your fellow EV6 owners. I'm sure I speak for many us when expressing gratitude for all your research and sharing!!!!
Yeah I'll test it in just a few. And I'm happy to help!
Practically useless if it doesn’t tell you your state of charge when you get to a waypoint or destination. I think we all know that it's important to have a contingency if stations are out if order. You can't plan a contingency with this iteration. I will continue to use ABRP for now coupled with Plugshare
Yeah it is odd they didn't include that. I plan on using it in combination with ABRP and Plugshare to plan trips.
@Technically Jeff could be that this practically a beta and it will improve with real world use
Possibly. It is very early on. Only the Ioniq 6 had it previously. When I enabled with engineering mode a few weeks ago it had the estimated SOC and charging time though which is odd.
We were hoping to get the %charge version when it comes to the EU later in the month. Damn😮
Yeah kinda frustrating it's not included. The only thing I can think of is they don't want people relying on that or complaining when it's off (since range can vary so much based on driving styles, temp, etc).
@@TechnicallyJeff Asian companies are just too cautions when it comes down to such functions...
Yeah? Think that's it?
@@TechnicallyJeff yeah, same with the HDA/SCC, it can recognize the road much better and longer, the servo on the steering wheel can park the car, but it won't take a curve >20° autonomously. They just programmed it to instantly yield/give up with the slightest uncertainty.
Interesting. I wonder if there's a way to bypass that (without using something like Comma.AI)
would be nice to include the update link
What?
@@TechnicallyJeff I menat if you included the update link where people could download it, that would help otherwise watching such video is kind of wasting the time.
Oh gotcha. I did include a link to the video that shows how to update (including the link to the site - there isn't a download link - it has to be downloaded using the navigation updater software).
not available in the 2023 :(
Yes it is!

Were you successful at getting a discount for the ultimate Kia connect plan?
Unfortunately no, not at that time
Omg the screen is slow
Haha not the fastest
I wish they allowed more integration with Android apps on your phone. I really prefer the map displays from my phone to the KIA provided one. Perhaps if they even just allowed us to initiate battery conditioning without having to use the map, it would go a long way to making things better.
If they allowed us to initiate battery preconditioning, that would be IDEAL. Some sort of button in the infotainment or something.
Man, compared to a Tesla, this is so confusing. I really hope they improve this. I'd also love to see all this in the app because I'd rather plan on my phone whilst sitting on toilet, then just jump into my car and not have to think about it!
yeah hopefully they make some improvements
"The new SW update" ... pls. always mention the SW version as shown in the setup screen ... "or it didn't happen".
Haha okay I will next time
So if I don't want to spend 200 a year I have to manually search for chargers. Seeing this behaviour from a company that I respected because of the 7 years warranty is pure mindfuck.
Yeah unfortunately. I do wish we didn't have to pay for the app. I just hope they use the revenue generated from it to bring further enhancements.
