This was a really interesting overview of not just Apple's VR reveal but the state of the market...I had no idea sales had declined by half. I mean the PSVR2 has landed with something of a thud (not helped by Sony's greedy pricing). I do think Apple have the resources to invest in and develop VR more than any other company. Of course the pricing needs to reach consumer friendly levels and that could take years. Will be interesting to see how it all goes!
We saw the spike due to COVID because people couldn't as easily travel and enjoy social functions like they did before. Now that things are opened up again there is much less use of VR. I like that Apple never did mention VR in their sales pitch and trying to bring the augmented world closer to the real world.
I can't wait for the comments to be flooded talking about how they won't buy one when we know damn well they could never have afforded it to begin with.
@@mcphoney I will no doubt get a quest three because I'm already in their eco system, but the apple headset looks like such an evolution in so many ways .
@@Hayzul you mean every 5-6 years. That's how often Apple longer software supports their hardware. Which has always been a major plus compared to Samsung and other Android basesd software support which is 2-3 yrs tops. Meta no longer updates their Rift 1 at least a year ago, but gets security patches up until next year. That was released in 2019. So 4-5 years is solid support, I doubt anyone would want to use a 6yr old VR headset if the tech has been drastically updated since its first release.

I’m very tempted to throw one on a credit card when it’s released…but my wife would destroy me!
Definitely going for a Quest 3 though! 💪

@@SlowPok3Gaming Good luck buying a new one every two or three years when Apple breaks it on purpose!
