i don’t think it’ll go that way tho. apple could definitely code the software for seamless shared content, but people will more than likely be watching their own thing in families, at least in my opinion
@@shawni.7138 I’m pretty sure they will add the ability to watch the same thing, a lot of people will want that, but it might not be until realityOS 2.
Thanks Brian. I was never really interested in headsets, but after watching Apple’s presentation and hearing your enthusiasm, i may be an early adopter. One thing I wish you would have covered is everyday computing tasks. Apple did refer to it during their presentation, but again is the experience easy or should we stick to doing them on our computers. Thanks again
Given that the max life of the battery is 2hr and the weight of the headset itself, I doubt we can use this generation to replace computer. Probably with the coming generations
Great review! I'm so jealous right now. 2024 needs to hurry up and get here. I am buying two of these, one for me and one for my girl. Credit card is already out! WOW!😍🥰
How was the field of view of the optics? Like do you feel like you're staring at a screen? OR does it take up a large portion of your actual vision? This has been the worst thing so far for me using other headsets.
My timeline for the Vision lineup is: 2024 - release 2025 - realityOS 2 (fixing some of the teething issues in the software, making everything nicer). 2026 - slightly cheaper Vision Pro 2 with M3/M4 and R2, 3-4 hours of battery life, battery mostly still external but maybe a small internal battery for up to 30 minutes unplugged. This one will likely release in more countries than the US, assuming the original hasn’t previously. 2027 - Vision Pro 3 with M4/M5, R3 and 5 or 6 hours of battery life (battery still external) plus Vision Air which has an A20 + R3 and an internal battery, about 3 hours of battery life, but with the option to add an external battery for even more. I think by this point the Vision Air could be as low as $2,000 and the Vision Pro will stay around $2500-3000.
Really excited to see your jubilance. I don’t think I can justify the price at this stage unless I can find a use case that goes beyond entertainment value. I do see why it has such a high price tag and I am sure that it will meet their initial sales projections. I am confident that as they get lighter, smaller, longer battery life and reach a critical mass price point this will be massively successful.
@@joselucnico ??????? what ??????? Bro, higher price doesn't equal higher quality. If you want a cheaper product, you wait for a cheaper product that is just as good. in 10 years they will have a MUCH MUCH more advanced version of this for a fraction of the price, I guarantee it.
Your excitement is contagious. Throughout the keynote I thought, wait, is this for real? And glad it is! Seeing Meta's vision for it (ex. workspaces) it sounded like it was pretty buggy and the execution wasn't coming to fruition. If they can't do it with all the $ behind it, how will anyone else? And here we are -- as they mentioned, all of the software and hardware from other products (hardware-wise most closely resembling Watch and AirPods Max, but with all of the camera and sensor tech from iPhone) really does come together in this product. The sticker shock is always top of mind, but people said that about Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR, but soon realize that it's for.... the Pros! Developers have a challenge to pump out their apps quickly ("early next year" will be here soon enough), but if they're excited like you are, they will create apps that will enable the platform to be successful.
Hardware-wise, Vision Pro shares the most elements with iPad. I assume you said Apple Watch and AirPods Max because of the button and the Digital Crown, but remember this thing has M2, the same hardware as Face ID, cameras, two displays etc
This is one of the best takes I’ve seen. Watch other reviewers that have tried this on spent more time talking about the price negatively. Or being pessimistic about what they think rather than educating about what the product is. I’m just reminded of all the groundbreaking products that have come before. And every single time tech reviewers got it wrong. “iPad won’t last, it’s a fad, too heavy”, “$600 iPhone is too expensive”, “iPhone doesn’t have cut and paste… dealbreaker”, “you wouldn’t catch me dead on a subway wearing AirPods”, “Lol people are actually falling for the whole Retina display nonsense”…. I don’t think separate yours traditionally understand disruption. As for the headset, if you don’t work in VR for longer than a day, the headsets could feel heavy.
I’m definitely going to get one. It’s the easiest way to take my office on the road without a load of monitors. And being able to record immersive 3D scenes. I’m going to be doing the van life thing, so this is perfect for that. $3500 seems a lot but then I paid over $4k for my MacBook Pro Max.
Honestly, it’s not even bad value considering you’re getting two 4k OLED displays, essentially an M2 Mac or iPad and what seems like a decent camera system. If you were to buy the displays alone, they could cost you up to $2,000.
You just made an amazing point that I didn’t even think of. I’ve been considering van life, but desk space for the kind of setup that I’d want is expensive, and I’d say a $3500 headset is totally worth saving the space and the monitor. Not to mention, watching movies would be next level as well, never feeling like you’re missing out on having a large TV. This is incredibly exciting. Not to mention, a lot of the other stuff is already extremely exciting regardless of the space available to me haha
@@kaedenmurphy9937 I’m in the middle of converting a 144 Sprinter and space for monitors in that van is really tight. I’ve finally figured out how to get a 42inch monitor installed using a 33 inch extension arm but it’s still going to be limiting compared to the virtual office. The reviews seem to think the 3D cameras are a bit weird but I think being able to share the experience of visiting really cool places with friends & family would be absolutely incredible. If it works as well as they say I think it is totally worth $3500.
It's similar to the PSVR2, which is at 110 degrees. It's not like looking through a small scuba window but it's also NOT a 360 degree view either. Apple has t commented on its FOV officially so that's why no one is talking about it. I asked them myself and they said they'll announce that when they are ready to.
I’m blown away by how far technology has come and expected nothing less from Apple. Imagine 20-30 years from now. We’re already part cyborg at this point. Funny to say , but it’s also exciting! Great review!
I love everything I’m hearing about these hands on reviews. Only possible negatives if any are price and weight of device. As for the tech and experience, it’s spot on especially for a series 0 product! 👌🏾
Here is my only concern. I plan to preorder because the tech is amazing, but at the price point, very few people will have one. What is the incentive for 3rd party developers to make apps for a device that a thousand or so people will own?
There will be many more people than you realize that will get this. Think about gamers, watching sports (can you imagine the commercials for watching the Super Bowl or 2026 World Cup on this), the Disney experience etc. when it comes to cost, if you want something, you make it happen! You can do Uber part time for a couple of months and afford this. It sounds like a lot of money and it is but it’s affordable. Just look at the excitement from Brian. Once people experience the demo that will be set up at Apple stores, it’s a wrap!
unfortunately sales and content creators will also likely be driven by adult content, but the possibilities are endless and the 1st developers out will benefit immensely. This headset is more versatile and appeals to a wider audience than I thought it would. It’s a sure success
The Meta Quest 3 comes out in September, $500. Wait until Black Friday and get that. Meta already has a good amount of apps made for VR. Apple showed NO VR apps, just virtual 2D screens! They even said to get a PS or Xbox controller for Apple Arcade! The Vision Pro 1.0 is high end, but the value is terrible now. There’s nothing stopping Apple from dropping the price $1,000 right after you buy it. Apple dropped the price of the first iPhone 33% ($600 to $400) a few months after release.
Thank you you explained it perfectly. This is the first generation and there will be issues obviously. But we can talk about those issues and keep it positive. I just watch Marcus‘s video. He was mostly negative and it was very offputting. Again, you can have an opinion without raining down on the whole parade, this is why we love tech. They will be issues with any product. What is the possibilities that gets us excited. I can’t wait until this thing comes out. Believe you me I can’t wait until this thing has a small as regular glasses . But I know it will take time.
Subsequent generations are ALWAYS better. That doesn’t mean you should always wait for it. I would never trade my years of having first generations of iPod, iPhone, iPad, Power Mac G4, etc. This is amazing for a first gen, given the complexity here.
Brian!!!!!!!!!! I am SO GLAD that you wede able to go to thjs event!!! I just wafched iJustine and saw a demo ad for Apple Vision Pdo on RUclips and was BLOWN AWAY!!!! I work as an Apple Advisor and didn't even know this was coming! So cool!
You are so deserving of all your success and growth.. I think I've been following you for over 10 years now from cnet days looking forward to watch your continued growth.
The deal breaker for me is the apps & game quality that are compatible with this device. I own a Quest & I had the same excitement when I tested the sample games & immersive tutorial in that device. The quality was so amazing & very realistic. However, upon frequent use I realised that this amazing experience & awesome visual quality does not always apply to VR games, apps & videos. For example in RUclips VR, only a few videos have the impressive quality with the correct ‘sizing’ & angle. Even in Games, only a few have the real immersive experience like ‘The room’, Plank experience’ & ‘Beat Saber’… majority of games are clunky, causes motion sickness & blurry (despite connecting my VR to computer-- it improved the quality a little but still not that satisfying). I’ve also been active to VR worlds & although it was an enjoyable & unique experience, the clunkiness got tiring eventually. Having said that, VR world has a lot of potential. I have attended VR lectures, talent shows , variety shows & went to comedy bars & it was fun. If Apple or any VR world creators can make an improved VR world in the future, maybe I’ll give it a try again. Even if you have the most amazing high functional VR headset, if the apps, games & videos cannot keep up with the same high quality, then that VR headset will get boring over time.
I was thinking the same thing. I’m not sure you noticed this but it seems to me that Apple was advertising this to developers to create apps for it so there can actually be a market for Apple VR. If this had came out back in 2017, wow it would have been a mind blown thing, but as everything you had mentioned above with Meta Quest use, what’s so good about a device that has all these qualities when third parties apps can’t match it. I see a lot of positives in this but the pricing is a turn off just because why would I spend $3000 more for a device that I can get out of with a $500 device without the quality?
@@thebuddercweeper But it still has a VR component. Plus Meta has been mentioned before that the next Quest’s feature will be AR & I bet other competitors are now into AR as well. So there’s really nothing special about this Apple feature except maybe the aesthetic design of the product. If the apps & games compatible with this Apple Vision can stay on par with the visual quality of the said demos, then this device will really stand out. Any Tech demos will always be impressive because the sample media have been created to be high quality & formatted into its highest visually appealing structure. Unfortunately, a lot of 3rd party apps & games does not maximise the device potential because they underperforms.
@@wingcharm I don’t think you’re really getting what the Vision Pro actually *is*. VR appears to be less than 10% of what it does, it’s really just a way of taking away distractions, the device’s primary purpose is AR. 1. The majority of apps for Vision Pro will likely just be adapted iPhone, iPad and Mac apps that take advantage of not being constrained by a small screen, this is a productivity and media consumption device, unlike VR headsets, it isn’t for gaming, so your concerns don’t really apply. 2. Pretty much every app (because of the aforementioned) will be using Apple’s frameworks, so they will function in the exact same way as the ones shown. This is not a case of the app taking over your whole fov and having you play a game, this is a case of simply placing a screen or an object in the world. Also, the Vision Pro *is* special. I would be willing to bet that the AR in the next facebook headset will be mediocre at best, mostly a gimmick and/or just a side feature, an add on to the existing device. The Vision Pro is so far ahead of *any* other AR device in the industry you just can’t compare it.
@@thebuddercweeper That’s why I said if AR is the only main feature of this Apple Vision Pro, then I don’t see the hype when most of the other competitor devices are catering both AR & VR plus games. The only deal breaker is if the Apple Vision Pro can have apps that will exclusively be outstanding from the rest of the competitor apps. Because if it is simply just having a bigscreen & pasting stuff to the real world, it’s nothing much special because other competitor devices can do that as well.
Is there an internal battery so we can hot swap the battery packs and it won’t shut down if we accidentally disconnect the MagSafe connection. It’s definitely 6DoF VR right ? Not just 3DoF? Are there haptics on the headset? I know no controllers means no haptics on hands but at least some haptics on headset will provide some haptic feedback when we’re clicking things on screen.
No need to swap batteries. You’ll notice the battery pack has a USB-C port next to the cable that comes out of it. You plug in the USB-C charger directly into the battery so that you’re powering both the headset while charging the battery. You don’t disconnect the battery at all. It’s also not MagSafe. A magnet would be too weak to hold the charge cable in place, so if you watch the video carefully, you see them insert the round puck into a slot with the cable pointing up. You then do a clockwise quarter turn of the puck to lock it in place where the cable is now pointing backwards.
I can understand the excitement of trying out new technology. Eventhough is not new technology. We already have VR head set like the Oculus, PS5, PS4 , ect. But asking $ 3500 dollars for it is way too greedy from Apple.
This is not a VR headset. It's mixed reality and is not really intended for gaming. It's still a very niche group that will like this but the price is really good if compared to for example the Varjo XR3
Im ready I new this product would be coming out for years so I have been stashing money away for it.. I will proudly be waiting in line for when it comes out, camping with other apple enthusiasts. The future is now! I can totally see gen 3 or 4 coming out with a custom suit that allows you to feel pressure and haptics, similar to player ready one. This makes me very excited. 50 years from now they will be able to upload our consciousness into vr and we can basically become immortal. Imagine Neurolink and apple merging together. Im on board!, I'm 33 I hope I can live long enough to see the day!
People have to remember that apple has been working on the software and function of this Vision Pro for years though the devices they have been creating. But what blow my mind was the VR glass headset with showing of your eyes, there tech is definitely a changer but the price should come down to at least $2,500.

Watching the keynote brought me back to original iPhone keynote vibes. Only thing missing was Steve Jobs, but I think he’s smiling about this product. 😁
This looks fantastic, nodding mike drop for Tim, wow and I can’t believe it’s a version 1 product! I’m ordering one ASAP
Amazing video, best recap so far!! Great job Brian!
Any kind of Motion sickness? Any stress on eyes? compared to Quest?
what would be really interesting is how shared experiences (like watching a movie when you're sitting next to each other) would work
i don’t think it’ll go that way tho. apple could definitely code the software for seamless shared content, but people will more than likely be watching their own thing in families, at least in my opinion
@@shawni.7138 I’m pretty sure they will add the ability to watch the same thing, a lot of people will want that, but it might not be until realityOS 2.
shared screen would work for couples and businesses but family members usually want to do their own thing.
Clearly not married. Lol
@@thebuddercweeper yeah they’ll definitely add it, it’s just that people will be zoned into their own vision
Hi Brian: Do you recommend Vision Pro or a MacBook Air? Please, advise. Thank you.
I would grab the laptop first. I feel like the vision pro would be a good tool to use along side a MacBook.
@@HoodiiSzn Thank you
I'm going to start saving money, I got to have this.
3:41 Wait 🤔 I just watched MKBHD’s video on the AVP and he said it’s heavy even without a battery 🤔 so is it heavier than the PSVR2?
Thanks Brian. I was never really interested in headsets, but after watching Apple’s presentation and hearing your enthusiasm, i may be an early adopter. One thing I wish you would have covered is everyday computing tasks. Apple did refer to it during their presentation, but again is the experience easy or should we stick to doing them on our computers. Thanks again
That's what I need to know. If it replaces my desk, it's worth the money easy. Otherwise, it'll be harder to justify.
Given that the max life of the battery is 2hr and the weight of the headset itself, I doubt we can use this generation to replace computer. Probably with the coming generations
Sounds like it’s insanely great!
Following brian since the beginning. Great job brother .
Thank you so much for your support and riding with me all these years!
Great review! I'm so jealous right now. 2024 needs to hurry up and get here. I am buying two of these, one for me and one for my girl. Credit card is already out! WOW!😍🥰
And if you got astigmatism and need glasses - can you still use this?
Yes, but you have to get lens for it that magnetically attaches.
How was the field of view of the optics? Like do you feel like you're staring at a screen? OR does it take up a large portion of your actual vision? This has been the worst thing so far for me using other headsets.
I imagine the 2nd or 3rd gen device may have a single dedicated R2 or R3 SoC that that’ll be way more powerful and power efficient
Yes! Once Apple Silicon has evolved to 3nm then they can take it to the next level! Though this is next level - ha!
My timeline for the Vision lineup is:
2024 - release
2025 - realityOS 2 (fixing some of the teething issues in the software, making everything nicer).
Great job, informative, and amazing speed to getting it out but top quality as always
Hey Brian. Where did you get your yellow iPhone case?
I’m buying it because of your honest raw reaction!
Thank you.
- Tim Cook
Is it all augmented or does it actually do VR where you are inside games etc??????
Really excited to see your jubilance. I don’t think I can justify the price at this stage unless I can find a use case that goes beyond entertainment value. I do see why it has such a high price tag and I am sure that it will meet their initial sales projections. I am confident that as they get lighter, smaller, longer battery life and reach a critical mass price point this will be massively successful.
If you want a cheaper product, it should be less good.
Cool. Compare it to the MS HoloLens ($3500)
Loved your review. I would say it’s your best one yet. You captured the experience and key points very well. Awesome review
Make more talking videos like this! This is the content we want!
12:52 I put out my finger like this little butterfly like landed on my stupid finger like it landed on my stupid finger!! That must be surreal
* new Apple product comes out*. time to watch Brian Tong and Marques Brownlee.
No one is talking about FOV. Is it filling the view? Or still like wearing a SCUBA mask?
It's similar to the PSVR2, which is at 110 degrees. It's not like looking through a small scuba window but it's also NOT a 360 degree view either.
Apple has t commented on its FOV officially so that's why no one is talking about it. I asked them myself and they said they'll announce that when they are ready to.
I’m blown away by how far technology has come and expected nothing less from Apple. Imagine 20-30 years from now. We’re already part cyborg at this point. Funny to say , but it’s also exciting! Great review!
Will it turnoff when we switch batteries? Hate to break the immersion on a long movie on a long flight.
I love everything I’m hearing about these hands on reviews. Only possible negatives if any are price and weight of device. As for the tech and experience, it’s spot on especially for a series 0 product! 👌🏾
And the battery?
@@zolikiss3515 just buy multiple battery or keep it plugged in. Problem solved.
I love your enthusiasm. Great video I almost thought you’re gonna cry for a second.
Here is my only concern. I plan to preorder because the tech is amazing, but at the price point, very few people will have one. What is the incentive for 3rd party developers to make apps for a device that a thousand or so people will own?
I think people are underestimating the sales of this product. Just wait until celebrities start showing them off…
There will be many more people than you realize that will get this.
Why does everyone build a headset where all the weight is on the front? Best place would be on the back of the headset for weight.
I love your energy!!
Wow! Intense and real reaction. Apple needs to sponsor this video. Couldn’t have a better reviews!
Can't deny it's exciting. What was the approximate field of view?
I think the weight might be a drawback for the 1st gen. But that is why gen 2 and 3 are going to be lighter faster better.
I hope lighter glass and lighter alloys will be invented.
Subsequent generations are ALWAYS better. That doesn’t mean you should always wait for it. I would never trade my years of having first generations of iPod, iPhone, iPad, Power Mac G4, etc. This is amazing for a first gen, given the complexity here.
I love this format of viedo BTeezy! Its so great to see how far you have come from them Apple Byte days!
Don't sweat the fanboy stuff. I don't own any apple devices but I watch your videos for your take on the tech. Do what you you do.
it's cool product and he's excited. If Xiaomi did this, i would be excited as well.
Great video. If Vision Pro changes computing, this video will be cool to look back on
Looks really cool, but I’ll probably need to wait until the 2nd Gen to save up for it 😅
Brian!!!!!!!!!! I am SO GLAD that you wede able to go to thjs event!!! I just wafched iJustine and saw a demo ad for Apple Vision Pdo on RUclips and was BLOWN AWAY!!!! I work as an Apple Advisor and didn't even know this was coming! So cool!
You know the apple haters will be here soon. With things like, it’s too expensive and there is nothing new here, it’s been done before.😂
Brian, you sold me. I’m getting a Meta Quest 3 😂. JK, I’m definitely getting one
Wow. Your excitement was contagious. I loved seeing it in the keynote, but you added that extra bit. Thanks. Still not sure 3499 is in the budget.

Thank you for the kind words Jason. Your support allows me to get these opportunities and I am always grateful. 🙏🙏🙏
Apple resurrect! Steve Jobs incarnated!
Elvis is here!
I can't wait to try it -- love your enthusiasm & excitement!
This is not VR, this is AR. They are entirely different technologies with different applications.
Bet it blew the bank too 😢
This is not for poor people.

It’s so beautifully made!
😂 I knew your kind would come and say something like that.
wonder where there store all this footage in this vision pro, probably there have build in nvme storage
How was the field of view? Was it an narrow like looking through a small window?
