SUPER TYPHOON Hit Philippines!! Boracay Streets Flood!

- We are experiencing the rains from the Super Typhoon just off of the Philippines. We got a red weather warning last night on our phones saying that there was flood warning. When the rain slowed down enough for us to go shopping, we were surprised to see the market street flooded several inches. It didn't seem to slow anyone down. All of the shops were still open and people were still shopping. They must be familiar with this. We were happy stores were still open so we could buy some fruits and veggies, water, and some other food supplies. To add to the adventure, our power went out for a bit. Thankfully, the stove is gas so we could still cook our food. We also had a big cockroach come that Benny got and started gagging after he crushed it. It was funny! Lily is not feeling well, so Mom made some delicious soup and Sam is making lemon ginger.

You really get to experience life in the Philippines, not just the good days but also the challenging days that come with living in the country. I agree with you, lemon ginger, honey tea is the best. I always make a lot and fill up a large Mason jar and keep it in my fridge.
That small joy you get when the power goes back on, is very filipino. That moment is just one of the many life teaching filipinos are used to......we learn to appreciate the world by experiencing both worlds of having and not having stuff in this life.😊
Its just the annual south west monsoon( habagat in tagalog), part of the rainy season here in the Philippines☺we need these weather phenomena including typhoons or else we wont have fresh water, we are detached from mainland asia, where the himalayas feeds most of its water needs thru great rivers, life in our country is harder during the rainy season but we welcome it, its part of our life

Hello! Good to hear you’re safe, i suggest BEROCCA for your vit c intakes. It does wonders whenever you feel like getting sick, it comes handy whenever you can’t find time to cook the ginger tea. You have to take it with full stomach thou. Good for mom and the big boys only. It’s lozenges, just melt it with a glass of water, warm or cold. It’s available in pharmacies. Be safe always and God Bless🙏

"Sayote" it's goes really well in ChickenTinola 😉 boil chicken with sauteed onions, garlic add ginger ( lots), and either malunggay ( moringa) or chili leaves. Some fish sauce, chicken cubes, Salt and pepper to taste. It's a great comfort food for rainy weather or feeling under the weather 😁
Yes...Fresh Lemon, Ginger and boil it and it works great. I do the same and add honey.

When power is out, that is when Filipino ingenuity come out. We don't feel sad. The kids can play and frolick in the rain.....beholding the beauty of a deluge. In darkness of the clouds you find its beauty as well. We lit candles, and most filipinos are out and about enjoying the rain outside. Some bathe in it, others get on their daily activities and shop and just interact with others and neighbors
the vegetable that you forgot to name is SAYOTE, one of my favorite , you can cook any menu of it. ..very delicious. I hope you can experience the mountain life too, I am from Baguio City

I do hope y'all washed your feet upon coming back home. Wading through flood waters has been a way of life in much of Philippines but everyone is advised to wash afterwards due to the risk of leptospirosis.
This life is what i missed so much in the PH ..i dont know why, but i felt like im at peace when its raining ..

always take a shower if you got wet by the rain... that is the reason people get sick by not taking a shower after rain shower bath
