When widow is on the map, usually the only answer is another widow. That’s pretty broken
Fr but I’ve actually got pretty decent at her bc of this a reasonable nerf would be time to charge her shot increase that and that would most likely fix the frustration of playing against her

@AncientGamer1000 They already did that, and she's still seen as a problem. They could slow it down more, but it doesnt change that she's a Sniper and people hate snipers. I like playing Widow, but I feel like the only solution(s) would either be to make her counters stronger(but still keeping them in check so they aren't broken) or make her squishy again with 150 health(even though I hate the idea).

Widow doesn’t even need to kill, she just needs to exist in the game and having you playing corners from second one till defeat, she’s better at controlling space than tanks. She is so boring to play against, you don’t know where she is until she hits you or you need your entire team in voice chat to call her positioning. Also the “You’re in low elo, your widows have zero aim” loooool, I’ve seen Widows destroy in sliver and are just bad at making decisions to reposition. I’m mostly in Plat and most widows we have are so f’ing oppressing and the game gets so much better and flows better the moment they switch.

Yeah, I've particularly noticed this during one game on Dorado where an enemy widow absolutely shat on our team, and she ended the match like 50 elims-10 deaths. We won that match, but it didn't feel like a victory at all. That match is still living rent free in my head.
The fact there's only 2 counters for widow and one of her counters is herself is insane

@@sillyXN Winton cannot dive a well positioned Widow for several reasons, Sombra's dmg output is laughable & unless you're an aimbot god + hack, there is no chance you kill her w/out giving her time to respond. Genji, another nerfed diver, DVA (maybe) but DVA is a mid tank rn compared to Orissa, Hog & Ram. Tracer & Ashe (w/ Mercy pocket) are the only viable counters other than widow herself. But Widow can still one-tap an Ashe w/ a headshot.

I don't understand how no one complains about Orisa, she's practically unkillable with her two abilities to negate dmg, all she needs is decent healers and she outputs stupid amount of dmg.
And she has no counter at all, apart from also having an unblockable ult and the javelin that has a massive hit box.
Also Orisa is picked as much as Hog is but for some reason Hog is the "unkillable" one.
Orisa and Hog are too easy for me just negate their healing then it's ok

Hog doesn't really counter her at all, if anything Orisa counters Hog cause her stun is the same cooldown as Hog's self heal

As a widow main who flexes, it's my job to make sure others suffer for my entertainment . . . . I'm kidding, but that's basically the course of her gameplay if she isn't getting consistently dived or out-skilled by the enemy DPS. She's not hard to kill but that doesn't mean she's easy either, you either fuck or BE fucked in this game.💙🌙

I met a widow named “Bobby”
He was absolutely shitting on us. I tried to widow v widow, didn’t work. I tried to get on him as sombra, didn’t work. It took both me and soldier to sneak up on her to kill her and then killed everyone else but then she respawned and she was back to dominating since we only could do it once
That whole game I got called trash and everything in between when I never played genji in my life and I just needed help diving her.
Wdym you lost Sombra v Widow? Did she pull a spider man and then shoot you or something?
Your team could've pushed the advantage with Widow distracted, too. Must've been a hell of a Widow to win that

And when I tried to do it for the rest of the round, the healer was right around her. It was a bap I think
My team was Reinhardt(who used to be Winston), Ana, sombra, soldier, and Moira
Their team comp was roadhog, Sojourn, widow, Bap, kiriko
She kept getting picks because rein didn’t hold his shield up right and when he did she just took another angle and got picks on the healers and soldier. I gave up on sombra and went sym, held the corners also behind rein shield. I was safe but the healers and soldier still got picked off.
I know what I did was stupid but I didn’t know what to do other than hold the corners and just deal with the team pushing point, I should’ve kept pressing her.

I had plenty of widows headshotting me 2 meters away from them even while I crouch and jump while shooting them. Being close to widowmaker doesn’t make you immune to being sniped, if the widow is cracked and knows how to deal with people jumping on her, she’ll just stay calm, scope in even at closest range and shoot you right in the forehead. That’s why in dps category 2 of the only reliable counters are another widowmaker or genji thanks to his reflect ability, because a simple jump without further protection leads to being shot even at closest range.
Sombra doesn’t make that much damage without her hack, and you can’t start hacking widow without warning her and giving her a chance to escape. You also can’t step to her as close as possible before going out of invisibility to shoot her in one clip, because sombra get revealed at 4 meters range. Meaning you need to keep atleast 4-meter distance, get out of stealth and start shooting her immediately without a hack. To succesfully kill her in time that way, you need to land most of the shots of your one clip not just into her, but in her head, meaning staring directly at her face, while STILL giving her at least a second to hear you going out of insibility before that and prepare her scope. I tell you, good widowmakers that only play her most of the time know how to deal with heroes diving her and also have not troubles hitting their target even a few meters away.
Genji has better chances but he’s not that sneaky and can be heard or spotted more easily, so widow can just start moving before the encounter. He needs to be extra careful, crouch before that to reduce volume of his footsteps and waste much time while she’s free pressuring your team or even already landing a headshot. Then if you get to her and are about to kill her, she can still try to flee and get closer to her team, so while you chase her you are then more vulnerable as you probably wasted at least one of your cooldowns and are exposed to the rest of the enemies that cal also have an advantage in numbers if the widow sniped someone in the time you were trying to sneak up on her.
@@Liam-vb3xo At lower ranks, sure. Widow can potentially be dominated by Sombra. At any rank higher than Gold. A widow will know how to counter flankers in general & Sombras dmg output (absolutely abysmal & factually one of the lowest dmg outputs in the entire game) will give the widow so much time to respond or be pocketed by a healer. Sombra after the goofy nerfs cannot contest any widow above Gold now.
Since I’ve been in masters and approached gm games I can definitely understand and appreciate this. Widow is more oppressive than any hog or sojourn regardless of how strong they are too and no one seems to care about the 25 hp she got back for no reason
Widow having 175 HP was so silly 💀 Most trash nerf ever. As an Ashe main, even I thought it was unfair. If Widow has 175HP why not Ashe and Hanzo too? They're more mid range and aren't really 'snipers' I guess that's why, but still Widow mains having to suffer w 175HP was so stupid.
@@pinkplasticlagWidowmaker had 175hp because she could be 4 lifetimes away from the fight and still get full effect from her weapon, Ashe cannot. You would likely be throwing if you play Hanzo long range bc his arrows are projectiles, not hitscan, and are infinitely harder to hit compared to widow's weapon from long range. Ashe and Hanzo are played close to mid range (mostly mid) and could be easily attacked by a dive hero because they are actually in the middle of the fight, and widow cannot be dove as easily because she's perched like a bird on a powerline in the sniper's nest, which is (majority of the time) away from the fight.

Sojourn has the same problem with widow. You either of play sojourn to counter sojourn, or their sojourn puts a foot long strap on, absolutely rearranging your guts, while your supports sit there saying DPS diff (mainly the supports who think you should be able to win against a mercy pocketing sojourn, instead of swapping to mercy to help.) And this is why I'm never going to play DPS again after hitting masters even if I can maybe reach gm.
Remember guys, Widow has falloff...that only applies from the distance of Junkertown 1st point to the spawn so it might as well not exist 🙄
I honestly hate when there is a Widow because I have to keep away from any open areas but as a support, if my tank is pushing up, I gotta look out to help them and my head is likely to be gone as Ana because I have zero idea of where she is. Even when me and my friends try to coordinate amd dive her, she'll get a Mercy pocket at just the right time to save her.
Unless you netgate window and kill her and kill mercy with ana

Only 3 ways to kill a widow
1. A widow
2. Teamwork 😂 for one character
3. Someone dives her (plan fails if widow has someone protecting her)
It’s great to see ya uploading and now streaming!!! Yeah Widow is definitely a pick in the higher ranks due to the fact they can aim, but that’s where most of the DPS comes from. It’s like Sombra and why they reworked her. I can say her health should be back to 175, but her survivability is already lacking when her cooldowns are basically as long as Ana’s.

Played widow on pc for the first time the other day (because I haven’t played her since 2020-21 on Xbox) and I steamrolled the enemy team, only died once when they all dogpiled on me, played a 2nd match and the only hero to contest me was the enemy kiriko who had it out for me. Very broken hero at the moment.
You're totally right raider. Fucking Widow is so overpowered in the new 5v5 format with way less shields. At least with sojourn and hook you can bait out their one shots, but with widow she just hides completely across the map with a pocket and one taps all the squishies with no good way to stop her.

As a widow main I never play how typical bad widows play. I move to different positions every time I get a kill or miss a shot because my position is compromised and if I absolutely have to. I’ll play right next to my tank a close range ads. I’ve played against widows as my widow where my team is brain dead because they can’t put pressure on the enemy widow like their team is doing to me and I get called out for widow diff. Overwatch players are the type of people who struggle to read a room on god.

I hate widow. The minute I hear the stupid whoosh of her bullet, I know all fun is going to be taken out of the match. I have to play stupidly safe, constantly taking note of where she is so I don’t get shot and if I do get caught of guard, back to spawn I go. Even if the widow is bad, she still creates pressure and will eventually land a lucky shot that completely changes a team fight
Being a genji main has prepared me for any abusive relationship
If widow gets to play the game, nobody else gets to. She can sit in her spawn and onetap you, or at the very minimum deny entire lanes because of the threat of the possibility that the widow can aim. You can't get close to her to dive her on many maps, you can't peek her, you can't outheal her because she instantkills. you have to either spam her out of the sniper lane with hanzo/junk, or you swap to widow yourself. The best way to nerf widow would be to lower her hp back down then go lower her falloff range from the 90 to about 30-40 so she actually has to be in the same map as the people she is shooting at and therefore can be dove or potentially interacted with.

As a wrecking ball main I usually prioritize widow as she can usually ruin the fun of any game and just completely kill my whole team before I can even get to her

I’ve always wondered why anyone thought snipers were a good idea in FPS games. I know people don’t like dying, but they’re likely to be less upset about dying to something they saw, and/or had influence in. To be randomly dropped instantaneously from across the map, with absolutely no say in the outcome is why I no longer play FPS games like this.

A good widow player is like a good nurse from dead by daylight, you are entirely reliant on them to mess up if you wanna win, and it’s super unhealthy

I don't see widow getting nerfed anytime. And even if she does get nerfed, high elo and highly skilled widows will continue and find ways to dominate. Her being able to one-shot headshot, take sniper spots and play like a pussy is her whole personality that's what she's about. It doesn't matter if Overwatch is supposed to be a fast paced game or whatever. I'm hearing what you're saying but as a casual and low elo player that only plays for fun I don't encounter widows that are hard to kill or constantly shitting on me. I guess that's why I can't even agree with you or feel bad in this situation 😅😅

ever since i started playing genji fighting widows has been the most fun ive had beating up the other team even post nerf
I had a game with the other team having Widow, Pharah, and a Roadhog and no one seems to try to kill them but me a Mercy/Kiriko. And even worst it was a Diamond/Master game with a person on my team being a top 500 contender last season. We lost 3-0.

I predicted widow would be very good, the only thing I can think of tank wise that "counters widow" is Sigma. Problem with that is that you have to target the widow with barrier leaving everyone vulnerable to everything else.

Dude it's so true, I was trying to explain to a masters player once how an uncontested widow can literally RUN AWAY with the game and he's like "No, DPS is a worthless role, the game is based around tank and support matchups." Okay.. So I guess a widow picking me out of spawn as a support and no one being able to contest her because as soon as we leave door she kills both supports leaving the rest of the team to die on maps with such far sightlines that you cannot even get close to her, I'm talking 2+ Winston jump lengths to get to her, is fair? His response is "You just don't know how to play the game." Alright dude....

And who exactly requires more skill than hitscans (besides tracer and genji)? Symmetra? Torb? Pharah? Junkrat? (lmao) Echo? Mei? (lmao). If you take away hitscans and flankers, the rest of the dps roster are a bunch of softies that only exist so the lovely players who cant hit the broad side of a barn can play (and be as fucking annoying to the rest of heroes that actually take some level of skill from your part)
