Thank you for your well documented video! I also have a Audi A4 B9 that suffers from the same corrosion on the lower rubber spring support. The nasty part is that on of my spring has shifted position and started to touch one of suspension arm.
Thank you for this video Dave - very helpful. I been quoted £946 at Audi to replace both rear lower coil mounts due to corrosion - MOT advisory. Same 2016 B9 Avant but mine is Sport Ultra. 115k miles and I use the tow bar for the bike rack. Am very surprised the aluminium is not treated inside that rubber to prevent the shocking amount of corrosion.
Excellent and very informative video on accessing and replacing either spring or spring mount/base. You are clearly working on a front-wheel drive A4. Will this procedure work also on quattro models -- i.e., with obstructions of driveshaft and differential? Is there enough room to use the squeezer and remove the spring and base assembly? Cheers.
Great video in lots of ways 👍 spring direction on the b7 model question. The spring is parallel no taper on the bottom just color codes for i.d. which is top and bottom? 👍
I wouldn’t change or torque that shock bolt either Dave. But I have only recently bought a spring squeezer on your recommendation, brilliant time saver. But I didn’t use it in conjunction with the portapower yet. Everyday is a school day, nice one Dave 👍
@davesterl Thank you for the great video! I want to buy the expander and the squeezer. Could you please share the link of them or the name of them? Thank you!
B9 looks easier than B8 which is an utter pain. These Audi rear spring seats aren’t fit for purpose. As you’ve mentioned, the aluminium insert is exposed to the elements when the rubber deteriorates.
@@999valeri Same spring on both sides 👍🏻 I also changed the dampers when I first did this job. Hard to say if it was needed, but anyways it rides much better now.

You make it look so easy but I know different, nice one.
Well documented Dave great video keep them coming 👏👍

Cheers mate, looked like it was going to be a nightmare, thanks for showing.
No bother Matt

Happy holidays!
Hi Dave. I have had the same issue with my S4 Saloon B9. Where do i get the mountings from?
Dave where did you get your spring compressor/squeezer from. Thanks
hi Dave thanks for video , could I ask where could I get that manufacturer software for the vw golf mk7.5 ? cheers 😊

I need to change one of the rear springs on my B9. Should I change both rear springs at the same time or will I be okay with only the broken one?
I have the Same Problem (;
I think ITS better top Change both.
@@999valeriYes, I did both. It rides much better now.
Nice good Job. I have to do it this week now ;/ did you bought simular new parts for both Sides or are they different in left/right Side?

@@sebrura yea OK i dont think that i Change the dampers ^^ and the upper and down part where the spring is INSIDE is also the Same in both Sides?
Why would a spring brake at so little miles and not even towing ??
Pot holes
Cause basic products and materials are crap these days. Seen these snap after 4 years
Springs are rubbish now, I've seen aftermarket KYB springs rusted and broken in just over a year...some OEM aren't much better....also pot holes.
Could this be causing a knocking noise?
Yes , of course. If one the springs has shifted position and started to touch one of suspension arm.
