The energy of nothing!

Not so far ago in time was that we realized that our universe is expanding But just about 2 decades ago we found that our universe is not only expanding but is accelerating expanding. And that was a bigger mind blown in the physics community then the former. We are talking the mysterious force pushing our universe apart Dark Energy…
What can Dark energy be ? Is it the energy of vacuum or empty space. Is it Cosmological Constant or Quintessence.
If dark energy is the energy of empty space , then its quantity increases with the expansion of the universe , which expands the universe even faster ,which creates more dark energy.
