Along with great instruction, I also like how calm and clear your directions are as well as the calm, not to loud music and nothing going on in the background! The professionalism in the video access to the subject you are explaining is also well done!
My friend Paul Yaffe did my designed bars in 2005 and we forgot about the CVO clutch reservoir on the left side. Easy fix and he said he now sells over 300 a year.
That is a real bonus tip on the brake bleed. I have used a syringe to pull out old fluid, but never thought to use it to push from the bleeder. Awesome!
Thank you, Robert, for posting this awesome video. Seeing how this is my bike, I really enjoyed it. I'm loving the bars and the quality is outstanding. I recommend Hill Country Custom Cycles to anyone looking for this type of setup. You guys are great. Sorry about the forgotten key.
Just wanted to say thanks! I watched and followed your video and you are one of the very best to follow! Spot on and my install went great thanks to your helpful video! Appreciate it!
most impressive!!! you called it simple, but from where i stand you really know what you're doing! waiting for my appt to change bars on my '14 ultra classic. you pointed out several points where doing it the wrong way could cause problems :(. my regular harley shop is doing it, gotta trust 'em!! thanks for the video :)
GREAT video, like your products too! Have built a few ground-up scoots in my time, but now as I am older, truly can appreciate products you have to offer. Now to decide, chrome or black, and 10 or 12 inch height. ;-)
@hillcountrycustoms, do you guys ever do sales or discounts? I’m hoping to pickup a full prewired and cabled kit with black 16” apes for a 2018 road glide. But the $800+ tag is a bit much at the moment. Thanks for the great videos
Another great video. I noticed you didn't back off the clutch adjustment 1/2 turn +/- at the primary after snugging it up by hand. Isn't that standard procedure on a cold engine before tightening the locking nut?
We appreciate the feedback. And yes, you certainly can back off the adjustment before you warm the engine, and adjust accordingly when your bike is warm to assure proper freeplay. In this scenario we simply wanted to show how to get the proper adjustment when putting on a new cable, but it can be an ongoing adjustment which is a great point to address. We generally don't experience a significant change in cable freeplay when running the bike that would effect clutch usability, but it's still good advice. So thanks for the attention to detail and thanks for watching!
Man! Nice work. Love the Zeppelin instrumentals ! Whoever that is, they’re fine players. About what would it cost to do that exact same thing with handlebars 14”, on a 2011 Ultra? I build and work on my own exclusively, yet I’m on the road a lot and may need to hire someone else to do this. Thanks a lot for your time and input. 🤘🤘🤘 Ride safe!
I have a 1998 road king with stock bars currently. I want to install 12 inch mayhem apes. Do I have to replace the original stock cables with longer ones or can I use the stock cables? Thx
Great detailed video, (like your others). Now to do with my 2005 Road King and your handlebar kit. Similar but different and mine has a MotorTrike kit too because I earned the grey in my beard.... I believe I spoke with you (Robert) on phone a couple times and emails before making purchase of your bars ;-)
I’m fixin to do this to my 06 street glide. But my fairing is after market with a custom screen, no gauges, no switches, just the radio switches on bar, and throttle, brakes, and clutch. I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into a shit show. Lord help me.
I've been riding with apes since 1975. 1st of all..apes are not welded bars! 2nd..I would NEVER run welded bars on my bike. And 3rd..the guy that thinks they know everything..proves they know nothing.

This is the best video to encourage me to take my bike into the shop to have it done.
I wish people would do more videos like this. Also you are almost the only one we found that has the older bikes listed.

Excellent video and tutorial! Ready to tackle my project!
How long do the custom throttle and brake cables need to be to install 16" bars on a 2006 streetglide?
@hillcountrycustoms, do you guys ever do sales or discounts? I’m hoping to pickup a full prewired and cabled kit with black 16” apes for a 2018 road glide. But the $800+ tag is a bit much at the moment. Thanks for the great videos
Just ordered mine from you and waiting for them to delivered!
Well I got an 05 electric glide and cannot remove the ignition like you said ,I’ve done everything except bust it with a hammer,,

Do you guys sell the brake and throttle cable separately?
Im looking for cables for 10" to 12" bars.
Thanks.
Thanks for posting this..
Helped me out..
Thanks man
Awsome video man. Thanks
If I want to install some 12" bars on 2002 Electra Glide Classic what size cables do I need to buy?
What size braided sleeving do you use for the handlebar wiring on your pre-wired bars for the 97-07 Touring bikes?
Can you post a link to all the parts you used for this build please? I want to put 14” on my 2000 electraglide
can you do a video on a 2021 street glide please i just bought bars and i cant find a video on a new street glide
Fantastic!

great video. just for reference in relation to handlebars. how tall are you ?
How can I order this bar kit? I looked on the web site but can't find it
I have a 1998 road king with stock bars currently. I want to install 12 inch mayhem apes. Do I have to replace the original stock cables with longer ones or can I use the stock cables? Thx
On a 12” setup, you can usually reroute some of the cables and be alright.
great! i think i can do it! 😊
Hell yea! I like those bars.
Is that a roadglide seat ?
Great detailed video, (like your others). Now to do with my 2005 Road King and your handlebar kit. Similar but different and mine has a MotorTrike kit too because I earned the grey in my beard.... Does this apply to a 2009 street glide? Set up looks extremely identical.
Same procedure for a 2008 model street glide?
You didn't do the bushings at the end?
I was wondering the same thing!!! What's the trick???
nice))) i have one fat boy. but i live in italy, i hope one day you can came end work in my harley. you will are welcome in Roma. italy.
Do you get the hold brake line ass. are does the lines screw on to the y ass.
first rule of thumb disconnect battery.
what about the mirrors you're blocking?
+Michael Scarpa 14” apes go right above the mirrors and you can still see them under your hands. 12 & 13”, the mirrors are blocked
Can you see the mirrors 2007 Street Glide with 12"
+Ricky camp 12” bars are right in the way of the stock street glide mirrors. 14’s will clear them enough to see
How high are the stock bars?
I’m fixin to do this to my 06 street glide. But my fairing is after market with a custom screen, no gauges, no switches, just the radio switches on bar, and throttle, brakes, and clutch. I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into a shit show. Lord help me.
