As a farmer who home schooled my children on the farm I used the sapphire card and ran everything through it and was able to take my children to 7 different countries For free.

Of course. He says that in the video. You lose if you carry balances. If you have trouble with this then it’s not for you. It takes discipline. One thought to get started. Set up all bills that you already pay in full each month to be paid on your credit card. Transfer that amount directly to your credit card in advance of your payments. It works.
I have a Costco Visa, I put all spending through it and pay it off monthly. I get on average $1,0000. back at the end of the year. This allows me to fly on any airline, cruise ship or any vacation instead of being forced to one airline. I get huge perks when using Costco Travel.
Not trying out a new strategy is the biggest mistake. That much cash back is worth way more with points. But if you are happy with your strategy then that's what it all matters.
As a small business, I offer a discount for payment by check. You can opt out of the game entirely and save money. Not everybody does this but it's worth asking.
Has anyone said that a BIG advantage of traveling with points is that you can cancel the trip or change dates with NO penalty or cancelation fees. They are immediately deposited into your account. The "extra" you paid in taxes + fees is redeposited to your card with 3-4 days. When I cxld a r/t KLM paid flight to Moscow a few years ago, I had to reuse the credit with one year or lose it. So I changed to r/t to Italy. They charged me $400 for "destination change". Ouch! The $90 annual fee is worth it just because I can board in tourist class right after Business class boards, while there is still overhead space available for my carry-on. Whew!
Beware of all these partial truths, if you are a normal spender in certain situations you may find some savings on coach but you won't beat the system to reach international first or business class unless you also are a frequent flyer i know this. Plus you are also paying annual fees, some are hefty annual fees of $400 or more. Plus many Airlines have increased the mileage needed to far levels from before making it even more difficult to achieve and the say they can change the rules anytime. Much of these should be classified as scams.
This. I have over 225k miles saved with Chase Rewards. Two premium economy seats from the US to Scotland were double that. Business class, almost four times.

More and more merchants are charging 3 % for credit card purchases. High end credit cards should look into it and compensate their users some how. What do you guys think ?
When I was in University I was losing the credit card game, now older and wiser I'm winning the credit card game with my Amex Platinum card. Yes, I pay off my card every month.

It depends on what your goals are. If you just want flights, I love our AA card. You don’t get as many “points” per $1 as a Sapphire-type card, but recently, they made it so you can get “status” (ie, upgrades) for everyday purchases. I love it, because my husband has status now. If he flies by himself, he can at least get upgraded to a premium seat, if not first class. When we fly together, I use points to buy first class tickets. It’s better for us to use points than purchase because if we cancel and they redeposit our points if our travel plans change and we cancel. If your travel is flexible, you can schedule flights for a very low amount of points, plus, they fly almost everywhere. A Sapphire-type card might be better if you want to use points for the whole vacation. Good luck!
This is not for a the regular person. All these people talk about transferring miles, not using cash back, transferring cash back, etc. Most of the credit cards give you 1 to 2 points back per dollar. If they give you 2 per dollar u need to spend 5000 dollars to get 10.000 which cash back usually is 100 dollars. Do the math how much you need to spend to "get a free first class ticket" Edit: all this rich people spend lots and lots of money all the time, therefore they get lots and lots of points, and travel first class free.

Solid interview however I do want to nitpick on the “never fly economy again” title since this was never discussed. From my research even top tier status doesn’t get you consistent upgrades most of the time.
Actually, it happened to me last summer, as my flight was oversold and they were offering $10K to leave the next day. I did not volunteer because it was my mom's surprise b-day party and I would have missed my second flight and missed the party I organized....otherwise, heck yeah!
Fir those businesses cards wouldn’t it depend on your business? How would you accumulate points on business only transactions. Will miss out on the 4-8 points

Excellent! I just discovered your channel with this video. I'm a nomad taveling the past 4 years all over the US and Canada by driving. I always used a Capital One cashback card for simplicity and I wasn't flying much. After much research just got my first points card, the Capital One Venture X as I've left the US and there will be a lot of flying. Still in the early stages of figuring this thing out but did enjoy my first lounge while waiting on a flight which was especially nice as the flight got cencelled - twice! This was also very enjoyable and inspiring hearing details of how TPG got started and grew. Such a nice, regular guy who's doing a lot to make a positive difference!
I wish charging my rent to my credit card was an option. Unfortunately, the property management company charges a $60 fee for credit card payments. At least I try to use my cards to rack up points but it's sad my biggest monthly expense has to come directly from my bank account. UGH.
Yip as a frequent flyer l get tons of advantages from Qatar 10% discount on my birthday, free lounges worldwide, book in at the business line and sometimes l used to get free upgrades but Qatar are now stingy lately. I would never put myself into dept in order to get a credit score for free upgrade or travel, for me cash is king.

This video changed my life. I just received 400 miles between two different airlines and cash back just by purchasing from a store I already planned to buy from without the shopping affiliates. I can’t wait to see how much points I can rack up on my everyday purchases. I always thought you can only earn miles through the cards and buying flights but now it’s like I doubled my earning power.

The citi custom cash gives you 5% on the first 500 on dining out. I would recommend only using that card for dinning out and if you have a card for other high spending category. Gas and travel should have thier own card.

I gave up on "points" when I basically stopped flying - used to do 250k-350k miles/year, no more. Now I just use cards that give me 1.5-3% cash back. I only fly for work or emergencies, both of which are extremely rare. And I'll drive if I can.
What he said about Emirates made my heart melt. I've been living in the UAE for over a decade and fly to NYC to go back home. Emirates and Etihad can't compare to many other airlines. And people from around the world work there.

This is misleading. If you need to have reward points that's not free. You need to spend a LOT of money on your cards or you need to be wealthy enough to get a card that comes with a bonus that's high enough (and those aren't usually free either). There's no such a thing as free lunch.

It does not help if you live a frugal lifestyle, even if you're in the United States, where you can easily buy groceries using your credit card, that doesn't amount to much if you shop wisely and you're a single person without children. If you already have a high spending profile you don't need that kind of advice either because most people within that group know well enough, and they also know it's not free but a kick back from transaction fees. It's frequently more convenient to use a cashback instead.

Don’t know that this has showed anything usable… I have a points card and have taken free trips after spending tons of normal expenses. Maybe this is for people who don’t know you can charge your water bill and get points.

The Chase freedom would give you more points

If you get $1k back from Costco, your average spend is $50k per years. If you spend that much with chase sapphire, you get $2.6K back!!!

As each of our 3 boys started driving we added them onto one CC for emergencies ONLY and that gave them good credit to start life also.

He’s a gay man genius. Regardless, i agree with the other poster. since the beginning of time, men have been looked to as protectors and providers. It’s only in modern times that men who can’t step up are surprised they’re not valued.
Don’t know that this has showed anything usable… I have a points card and have taken free trips after spending tons of normal expenses. Maybe this is for people who don’t know you can charge your water bill and get points.
