Never get tired of you discovering more honest, political, music
@@sunshynff Perhaps it's due to the fact that things are changing all around us. Perhaps. Perhaps there are other important things to talk about sometimes, instead of drowning ourselves in music and other distractions. Perhaps. Perhaps distractions are part of the problem..
@@sunshynffyou’re part of the problem bud lmao
Your point about the military is exactly what the song is talking about. Some people often those in poverty see military service as their only way out of that situation. As opposed to the government wanting to help its citizens without them having to offer their lives in return.
yay america... wait
And yet, ppl that aren't poor have been volunteering(enlisted not officer pussies) since 1754 because it's the best system in the world today
Old school unfiltered reactions. Love it.
I love System of a Down, but my favorite wordplay of theirs ever was "Welcome to the Soldier Side", because the double-meaning was, "Welcome to the Soldiercide" (i.e. soldiers getting massacred for no real reason). Yes, they are very anti-war.
wait no hold on shut UP I didn't catch that that's so fucking clever, like I thought Victorias/victorious was clever this is next level
I can't imagine how awesome that concert would be
Saw them in 05....incredible show
S.O.A.D. was a poem by one of the band members about, you guessed it, a political injustice; originally called "Victim Of A Down" changed into System Of A Down caused it sounded more impactful and more adhered to the reality that the system is fucked up. Cannot deny their honesty, a modern herald of truth and empathy. +Respect
The music of System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine are still very relevant today. I honestly wish both would get back together and put out some new tracks.
In the meantime, may I suggest checking out "Prison Song" from SOAD when you have the chance?
Hope he checks out some of Serjs solo stuff too
System of a Down are together
SOAD and RATM are not very comparable. RATM is *very* much further LEFT than SOAD.
So obviously they are great live, but please do listen to their studio version. The pure vocals and instrumental balance are a treat to the ears.
He’s said it in a couple of videos but he always makes a point to listen to the studio version after he finishes a reaction. I wish he would post a lil commentary on his feed of his thoughts (if he has any more) on songs since the studio version is usually “better” for most musicians, but he already does enough. I get why he doesn’t do the studio versions, copyright is a mofo and if my income relied on it I wouldn’t wanna fuck with it either.
@@bhelliom3 Ah, this was actually my first videos of his and I was inspired to comment! I didn't realize it was a copyright thing eather. I figured reaction videos were still transformative enough for RUclips guidelines. I'm glad he checks out the studio versions tho for sure 😃
he did the studio versions about 2 years ago on his other channel Mrlobyd reacts
Bro, you gotta listen to "Hypnotize" and "Lost In Hollywood" they are absolute bangers. You'll love them if you haven't heard either of them yet!!
I've heard a song or two of theirs and liked um.What rock have I been sleeping under.Cant believe I never heard this and why didn't I explore the band more?I'm here now!!!
System of a Down is amazing! I recommend listening to all of their albums! They have them all here on RUclips 😊 start with their self titled and then Toxicity
Welcome to the SOAD rabbit hole
SOAD is great and Serj the main singer had another band or solo thing that was pretty great too
MRLBOYD explains the military industrial complex. I’m here for it.
This may be one of my Top 3 MrLBoyd music reactions. As you're listening to the lyrics and they're sinking in, you make some great facial expressions. The realization of just truly how no-fucks-given SoaD's attitude is warrants such faces. :)
I keep forgetting you’re moving videos, but I love it because I’m reminded to watch them again lol
That's one of the important things about good "statement" music.
Finding ways to weave relevant and poignant messages into catchy and well-crafted music that has your head bobbing and body moving, then you really hear the words and it's like..."Woah...wait what?"
SOAD definitely speaks to consciousness in this world... social, economic, political, and more, is all there, along with some musical fun. Just listen to the Hypnotize album. You went be sorry.
They're amazing! When Talent and Vision collide.
If no one else mentioned it and if it wasn't obvious already...BYOB is Bring your own bombs instead of the usual acronym where the second B is for beer/booze.
This reaction made me subscribe
Acknowledgment of an apparently simple avenue out of poverty struggle, the classist divide, the frustration. If I didn't discover them in late middle school, I wouldn't be fighting for the rights of people dissimilar to me around the world like I am now.
One band that comes to mind that is carrying the torch of opening eyes is Enter Shikari. Especially the song “Gandhi Mate, Gandhi”. Definitely worth checking out.
SOAD reaction: "this is political, isn't it?"
SOAD fans: 🙃
Bad Religion have some amazing songs over the last 40 years
These guys were my shit back in highschool, I'm 26 now. One of my favorite reactions to this song is yours about 2 minutes into the video "...this is political isn't it?"
I highly recommend, by system of a down, of course :
"empty walls"
"cigaro"
"IEAIO"
"soldier side"
"vicinity of obscenity"
"violent p**nography"
"sugar"
"spiders"
"hypnotize"
"lonely day" and probably my personal favorite track "sad statues"
Vinnie Paz - "A Power the Government Cannot Suppress" 🙏 A must listen Mr Boyd
I love your reactions! You actually get this shit the meaning of the songs!
I love all of your stuff. You know more about music and politics and culture then any other reactor out there. Keep it up.
Basically thrash metal, nu metal or Heavy metal depending on your perspective. Very unusual in the way that sound. Cool.
Bro i have been a fan of this song for over 20 years and i just learned so much
You know what's sad, some join the military and are not cared for, there's even an entire homeless camp of veterans in L.A.
Just the expression on your face that of pure joy is priceless.
How did I miss your reaction to this?? Great tune!!
Thanks for adding the music channel! You pop up on my feed often and didn’t realize I was unsubscribed to one of them! Love your content. Music and movies (and Game of Thrones 🙂) especially. Keep being you!
When I was in high school organizing against the military recruiters in school (2003-2005) we called it a "poverty draft".
this song was written in 2005 if I'm not mistaken and it seems he wrote it last weekend. // yay, we've evolved so much...! 🙄😮💨
Dude, so glad to find you have a music only channel (again). This was deep. Awesome
B.Y.O.B. Bring. Your. Own. Bombs.
Respecting and fighting for human rights can never be a "political" issue. PERIOD.
I think the closest modern version of this is This is America. If you think about it same idea, a catchy chorus to distract you from the reality of the rest of the song because you want to be distracted
I get what you mean
Now that you have watched Game of Thrones, you should watch Serb's ( the lead singer) rendition of " The Rains Down in Castlemere".
This song makes me cry, dude. Lyrically, I think the message is pretty clear, but it's lacing the sonic backdrop of absolute madness. It's a lot.
I recommend their performance of Spiders on Conan.. overlooked
Prison Song by SOAD is also a very political song, like this one, that also happens to slap
ruclips.net/video/B4Bl02OrVQ0/видео.html
Along the same lines, you've gotta check out "Cigaro". It's a banger!!
3:57 pic for reference + comment for algorithm
Panic attack by dream theater is absolute banger of song.
I'm very late and I'm sure you know now but they are armenians, and clearly very political about the USA and fascism in general. Like you I'm SURE they are/were followed and watched. They helped a lot of people understand politics little games and the violence of the people in charge very fast.
If you want a beautiful display of their talent, you need to check out "Question!"
A song so nice he reacted to it twice and both times he had claimed that it was his first time
Im confused, didnt you already react to all system of a down music. I watch every SOAD reaction and pretty sure you did, and thats how i learned about you in first place.
If you need music you havent heard yet you should do Mindless self Indulgence, no one ever does.
I feel like i've seen this one already
I figured it out this is a new channel I think
These dudes are on the same level as the Dead Kennedys some decades prior
I listened to this song while I was deployed to Iraq so I could know what my lot in life was. Although it’s unlikely I’ll ever change the world hopefully I can help
4:05 he song is from 2005, i guess you have not heard contemporary musicians do song like this, because SOAD did it already.
"This is political, isn't it?" Yes, yes, it very much is. You should know that by now. This is by far one of their most political though and came out about a few months right after Bush sent us into Iraq for the WMDs.
Song was about desert storm
Highly recommend Serj's solo song Empty Walls (specifically the music video is WILD)
I don't think they are specifically talking about the United States Military. I think this fits the military of other countries more completely.
Love this song, it brings me back to high school when it came out and the fear that the government would reinstate the draft
SOAD and RATM are my two favourites.
Check out " War" from them and "Prison Song"
BYOB...Bring Your Own B*mb..that right there tells you everything you need to know about this song lol
Forever SOAD keep going bro the list goes on. 🤘
I know I gave up secular RUclips for Lent - but I can't wait until Eater to see you react to this.
Your face during the 2nd verse said my mind is blown.
Can this guy fly in planes anymore LMAO love your content bro
please listen to bloodywood if you haven’t already. they’re great.
If you'd like to hear a different version of this song, producer William Maranci turned this into a country song, using the original vocals mashed up with John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads". ( ruclips.net/video/zdohpTAFQqE/видео.html )
Ya the lyrics are so good
Love SOD all songs
Your face though 😅 💜
Love the vids!
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Wait until he discovers Immortal Technique.. 😂😭
This and prison song break me. We know...and nothing changes.
Early middle ages were very far from ideal, but at least class relations were more or less honest. Peasants work the land to feed and equip their lords. Lords arm themselves and fight their own wars. Personally. Some kings died on the battlefield. Back then leader's personal example and bravery was the only thing that can hold an army together.
In your free time check out the music video also. I know you run live performances for reactions but the official video for this song is amazing as well.
You would LOVE korn!
Self titled album.
I could have sworn you did this song already
College is free in Spain? Here in Australia it’s free to attend, and then the costs u accrued along the way is taken from your wages once u start earning enough to be able to afford it
Rage Against the Machine had mainstream success and were as if not more political.
XOX
This was the first time they played this live
B.Y.O.B. of course stands for Bring Your Own Beer, but in this song it’s Bring Your Own Bombs. It’s a double ertende in a way; The war IS the party.
They elude to it in the chorus as well; “Everybody going to the party have a real good time Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine.”
Combining with the first verse, you can see that they are talking about how wars - in this case the Iraq War - is a source of entertainment for the upper class, while the poor are dying for the entertainment.
Please tell me he has seen the original music video
Lot to do with the military response to the middle east conflicts, certain countries want our protection to protect oil interests and are all to happy to send our people to war who you could infer overall are from the less privileged communities in our country...common theme in human history when it comes to warfare, normally not fought by rich people
I’d love to see you listen to The Idiots are Taking Over by NOFX. Think you’d enjoy it.
You should give Prison Song a listen next.
react to sad statue / ego brain 🔥
I would love to see you react to Batmetal....
🔥🔥🔥🚒👩🚒🔥🔥🧯🧯
System of a Down: soldier side
Do empty walls by serj tankian
Should have watched the lyric video
So bro 5 more time so we know you really like it
"Why would they?", because they started them? It's pretty obvious . . .
PLEASE REACT TO GENOCIDAL HUMANOIDZZ
this was realeased in 2005 what was going on then bro look it up
System of a Down: ATWA
You know it, I know it, everybody knows it. Even Asmongold knows it.
Man, listen to Call to Arms by Stugrill Simpson. I think you'll be extremely surpised from a counrry artist.
so you were told to read the lyrics, were you also told to listen to the crappy live version?
I can't even watch the reaction videos when I hear the live versions. I'll literally just skip the video. It's not a true reaction. Studio versions are a must first time through.
Oh my gosh dude. For the love of God. ON YOUR FIRST REACTION TO ANYTHING, DO THE STUDIO VERSIONS!!! the live versions of ANY AND EVERY song do not do justice to the actual recordings.
He does 'live' reacts instead of 'studio recording' reacts to get around RUclipss auto-copyright audio system. He absolutely is listening to the studio versions on his own time, so know he's enjoying that.
It sucks copyright has to be so aggressive with reaction content.
