Great video Josh. I didn't realize someone makes a firewall mounting plate for the Vintage Air type systems. Do you have details on this? Love to do this upgrade to my 87 El Camino.
Hey Joshe, nice install. I'm ready to get one for my 1979 el camino /sbc and wondered how the unit performs for a daily driver in the 110 degree days in summer to the 10 degree mornings in winter? is it a good unit???? Thanks for your videos , Happy Independence Day, I'm doing a burnout today to let freedom ring, at 6800rpm thru pypes 3' exhaust with turn downs to let that freedom be heard, Lol
@@CarsandJoshee I can relate, something always comes up and moves my project back, i was supposed to have it finished before hurricane katrina in 2005. Lol
I have a question about the support brace bracket (page 14) 649621 The pictures from vintage air are crap. It looks like it’s supposed to mount to the floor but the bracket is too short. Does it just hangout above the carpet?
There's a bracket attached to the dash. When you go to put your dash back in, it will secure to that 1/4 - 20 u-nut. I think they tried to show it on page 17 (photo 1) but it's not really clear from the picture.
I am starting to consider getting a/c functional in one of my elco's. I'd like to keep my stock dash and glove box. Did you consider that and rule it out? Did the LS swap make that a non starter? I am not swapping it. I'm going to put a SB350 in with a Silver Sport T5 conversion. ~P
I could have kept the stock a/c system and got it running, but I wanted to get rid of all the vacuum controls. I also just wanted to update it to keep with the theme of it being a restomod. A 350 with a T5 will be fun. Good luck with it!
I ordered extra stuff because the LS swap has the compressor in a different location, but it was a combination of kits. Best bet is to look on Vintage Air website for g body. I think it’s the Monte Carlo kit.

Vintage Air makes a complete kit for g bodies now.

The truck is currently in a storage unit. I haven't finished the build yet.

Do you think this unit should clear an LS tall valve cover with the addition coil cover?

Thanks for your quick response. I’ll have to take another look at it. 😞
I need a link to whole vintage air kit
It’s the one for Monte Carlo. It’s on the Vintage Air website
@@CarsandJoshee you think it will fit a 79 elco everywhere I look they don’t offer a lot for that year
Just when I bought the very last replacement part for my factory AC resto, VA finally comes out with a kit lol just my luck
Convert anyways..u deserve the best baby
How'd you get the 5th Gen wheels on there
Spacers. I just used them to roll it around; needed bigger wheels to fit the brakes. Never intended to leave them on it.
I have a 78 Chevy Malibu looking for a vintage air system. Where did you get yours from?
Direct from Vintage Air

Will this fit in a 78 malibu?
Most likely. You’ll want to talk to Vintage Air to verify.
What is the kit number for the vintage air system that you got for your El Camino?

If you can, can you give me the part number on the fuel tank that has the salt that you ordered from rock auto please and thank you
Dorman 576379
Do you have a part # for the VA KIT?
For El Camino, it's 965083
Is this the kit from ArizonaGN??
Nope, it's straight from Vintage Air. They have a g body kit now.
I see it says 82-88 gbodies. I wonder why it won’t work for my 79 malibu? Is it because the malibu is technically an A-Body? Hmm?
Not sure if there are any differences. Vintage Air should be able to tell you pretty quick if it will work or not.
Took me way to long to understand the. didn't even hear them drop it off comment 🤣🤣
Continuously honing the dad jokes 😄
