@@goldencrowns1887 have you SEEN the bath room scene? When amy braided Violet's hair? Amy hugging violet and violet letting her do all that and for what? Friendship? Nahh. they fell asleep holding hands too i think. and the ultimate, wedding scene- i mean ballroom scene which i literally mistook for their wedding scene. The writers KNEW what they were doing and I'm highly disappointed that they didn't act on it. Instead they pushed literal gilbert in between.

Gilbert is literally a groomer though. Even If they started dating when violet was 18(barely legal, when he was 40 is still disgusting) even then it's weird asf because gilbert raised her and violet just jumped at the only option she had for 'love' not knowing that that's not called romantic love. Honestly violet is so fucked up because nobody ever told her what real love is. So her perception of love itself is so messed up and she considers even the bare minimum 'love' and well, falls in love with a groomer. Gilbert should know better than to date her. but no, he MARRIES her can you believe it.

Was reading reviews of this movie on letterboxd and stumbled on a number of reviews saying it’s basically a Portrait of a Lady on Fire and I wholeheartedly agree, both movies emotionally destroyed me.
It’s a bit of a mix of the handmaiden and portrait of a lady on fire but it ends like portrait of a lady on fire
